Pulled chest muscle? (Still hurts after a few months!?)
ChvyKc replied to PingGKEN's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I somehow hurt both of my elbows last year where my tricep attaches to my elbow. I was bowling and playing golf a lot at the time and it really hurt during both sports. I ended up being sent to a sports therapist and he put me on a low dose steroid for two weeks and told me to go easy on them for six. I did as he said and now they are pain free. -
I completely forgot about that. He is absolutely correct. Check them out if you have a way to get in.

I always wait for Kohl's to run a sale on their pants and go get like three pair at a time. I can usually get them for around 20 bucks a pair (Dockers, Savane, Chaps, etc) I have to wear them to work as well (Network Administrator for a credit union) and I go through them pretty quickly due to crawling around on the ground so much.

I was playing by myself on a really cold day. Well, it was really cold for South Carolina (around 32-33 degrees). I played the front nine with no incidents but when I made the turn I picked up a partner. It was a dog :) I love dogs. He was that type of dog that would just kind of stick around but wouldn't let you get close to him. He looked to be some kind of Walker/Lab mix. Anyway, the 10th fairway has a fairly large pond off to the left and of course I pull it left. While I'm down there looking for the ball this dog goes flying past me and bails off into the water (remember it's almost freezing outside) After he gets out of the water he takes off running towards the 18th fairway. I find my ball and hit my lay up shot and then a wedge about 15 feet from the hole. When I get up on the green here comes the dog and he lays down on the side of the green and starts watching me. I find this kind of odd but I go ahead and get ready to putt. As soon as I hit the ball he takes off after it. Snatches the ball up and he's GONE!!!!!!!! I was laughing to hard to try to run after him (like I would have caught him anyway). I think he's actually done that before. I have't seen him since but the dog actually looked like he knew that I was about to putt and was just waiting on his chance.

I started out playing persimmon. Metal woods were out (original Big Bertha was just released) but I was playing with my dad's old Wilson clubs. They were blades with persimmon woods and an old titleist putter. I actually wish I still had those old clubs but I definitely prefer my newer clubs. There's nothing like hitting a pure shot with a persimmon driver though.

What ball would you recommend to very young players????
ChvyKc replied to Dub's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I actually found a Dunlop (i think) Ladies ball and tried it out. I was impressed with it around the green but I actually lost distance off my drives so I went back to my TP Blacks. I agree with Chief Broom, just find balls around the course or buy some inexpensive ones like the Nike's that have been suggested. Every kid loves Tiger. -
Driving ranges around here stay open year round but you are a little farther north than me. I'm also able to play year round as well. I had no idea about that birdieball net. I'm been looking for a decent net for a while but everything I get can't stand up to full shots.

I went back to my Ping after about 2 month with a Nike. I just didn't like the feel of the Nike. Putting is my weak spot and I didn't need anything to make it worse.

I always had problems hitting my fairway woods until lately. Now its one of the strongest parts of my game. This might not work for you but I just took my 3 and 5 wood out on the range (left everything else in the truck) and hit a complete bucket of balls with them. It think the biggest thing with me was just learning not to swing so hard. With just a good tempo and making sure my head stays down I can hit a 3 wood 220-230 off the deck.

I Have Officially Made the Switch
ChvyKc replied to whip_it_out's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The closest thing I have come to that is a 3i. It wasn't even really a pull back. It hit the green and jump sidways and came maybe an inche and a half back and about 6 inches to the right (of course away from the pin). Complete accident as well, couldn't do it again if I tried. -
I generally like smaller heads on my drivers. I grew up playing my dad's old persimmon Wilson driver and I guess I just got use to it. I played with a 460cc driver for a while but went to the Ping that I use now and I love it. I had the chance to hit a TaylorMade R7 this past weekend and really didnt' see that much difference in distance. I was putting it out there about 270-275 with both.

Softest ball with lowest driver spin?
ChvyKc replied to elsito99's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It's a big difference working for a non-profit organization compared to a company that is solely concerned about the bottom line. I work for a Federal Credit Union (which is non-profit) and I absolutely love it. My supervisors are more worried about employee and member happiness instead of making every last penny we can. Point is, companies like Nike, Wal-mart, Coke, etc are more worried about keeping their investors happy then providing accurate information to their customers. Word of mouth is the best advertising any company can get and the only one that you should listen too. -
Well put, I think that's exactly it. I did notice that my shows tore the green up a little when I first got them just by walking. After my first round they stopped. I would just watch what you are doing right after you change your cleats but after that it's no big deal. I still try to avoid stepping on people's lines though, it's just a mental thing
-
I thought that was one of the first things you learn in golf etiquette (spelling???). It doesn't bug me that much because I am probably going to miss anyway but it's still common courtesy to not step on someone's line. Sounds like you need to find some better people to play with.

I hope that you just haven't updated your index or you are the most inconsistant golfer (besides me ).

Softest ball with lowest driver spin?
ChvyKc replied to elsito99's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I love my TP Blacks. I've tried a ton of different balls and picked up a dozen x-outs of these up to try them out. Great distance on drives with very low spin but I can still get them to stick on the greens. -
I bought a Nike Ignite Mid-Mallet putter and hated it. I think it was more because it was a mid-mallet design than anything else. I started out playing an anser and that is where I should have stayed. Went to an older ping and love it. I really like the older Ping equipment though.

I shot a 94 (about average for me) Friday at one of the toughest courses in town. What made it weird was my game was completely backwards. I was crushing all my drives/fairway woods right down the middle. I hit 70%+ of my drives on the fairway but my short irons really let me down. It was one of those rounds that if I could have played my short irons like I usually do I could have went in the low 80s for my best round yet. Never can pull everything together at once.

Why do you change your driver?

GO COCKS!!!! Sorry, had to throw that in. -
Iron Your Most Comfortable With
ChvyKc replied to bogeyhitter25's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw this thread. I actually voted 9 though. I practice it the most and I'm just really comfortable with it. The 7 was my past favorite but I've been having problems pulling it slightly left lately. I love being able to pull my 60 out though. Make a full swing and just watch it come down and sit right beside the pin. -
Is it just me or are Anthony (from last season) and Lori related? They both have the same attitude problems and they even kind of look alike. They both had that "I can't believe I'm in the elimination challenge when I'm this good" attitude. BTW, Tina is HOT!!!!

What steps to you take to shape shots?
ChvyKc replied to irspow's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Aren't he basic principles of shaping the ball the same for everybody? I'm sure that there are differences to everybody's swing but there should be some simple steps to get the ball to do what you want. Not trying to start an arguement because I have no idea how to shape the ball. I'm happy just to keep the ball in the fairway. -
But if player B is sponsored by Budweiser and is playing better than Player A but misses the cut he probably won't get an exemption by the sponsor since he is associated with a competitor. I don't know of anybody that is sponsored by an alcoholic vendor but if Dunlop ever drops Daly then maybe he could pick one up.

Tiger unleases some (expletive) bombs on the 9th hole at Doral
ChvyKc replied to Three Putt's topic in Tour Talk
I agree with Lemay on this. I would have gotten a little aggrevated with that guy as well. I know that Tiger is in the public eye and should carry himself as a professional but he is playing for a lot of money and every shot counts. Some jerk taking a picture during his downswing could cost him a tournament. -
I would love to play but I've got plans this weekend. Good luck.
