  1. Funny comparison. Is the rugby WC more exciting than a golf major? Depends who you are, I know what I get more excited about at least. And I found at least the last major quite compelling!
  2. I play my course (Seyssins, Grenoble, France), a compact 9 hole course (no par 5), around 1 h if I don't get stuck behind other people.
  3. I do this when my ball contact is off. Works for me. Never read it anywhere though.
  4. I drive a really battered Ford Escort from 2000. My golf clubs cost me 3 times as much as my car
  5. First in gets the pin. Not a hard rule of course, if the first person to hole out forgets it (maybe he made a birdie, hey!) I don't mind picking it up. I even don't mind putting the pin back for the whole round if no one else does. Big deal.
  6. Never been successful with choking down. I never try to go at it harder with my shorter clubs so I would always take the 8i, but depending on the situation I would take a 3/4 swing or open up the club face a little.
  7. I think to say he's done is a bit premature. Prove himself all over again? Yes, both on and off the course it seems, but done? Personally I was never a big fan of Tiger, but I do think he'll win again.
  8. Second that. We're fortunate to be able to play 11 moths a year here (Grenoble, France). Got a 9 hole course 10 minutes from the office, so I try to play at lunchtime during the winter months.
  9. Switched to an Odyssey white hot XG #9 last season but wasn't that happy with a heel shaft as I thought I would be (kept pushing my puts). Loved the soft face though, so this season I'm putting with an Odyssey white steel 2-ball center shaft putter and couldn't be happier. Really like the balls as alignment aid (apparently more people than me like them =)), and the steel insert makes the putts come out slightly hotter (which I prefer) than the white hot, while still maintaining the butter soft feel. Putting average has dropped from 36 to 32 so far this season!
  10. I carry it around 230 yards with my driver. My longest drive ever was about 310 yards, with roll.
  11. At the moment I play: Driver: Titleist 905R 9.5°, Aldila NV-65 Stiff 4+-wood: Taylor Made Retro Raylor 16°, Aldila HM-40 Tour Gold Stiff Irons: Titleist DCI 962, TTDG R300, 2,3-PW Wedges: Striker Tumba Line, 52°/60° Putter: Taylor Made TPi-27 Ball: Titleist Pro V1 I sometimes play a 5-wood: Taylor Made Retro Raylor 19°, Aldila HM-40 Tour Gold Stiff or a Hybrid: Mizuno CLK Fli-Hi 17°, TTDG R300 instead of my 2i I'm a sucker for classic, no-nonsense looking clubs!
  12. I've got a 905R in 9.5° loft with an Aldila NV-65 stiff shaft, which I got fitted for after I managed to snap my 975J 8.5° (And I got it at less than half retail price, they were selling them of at the local golf shop when they got the 907D:s in. Couldn't hit those very well anyway). I hit very few poor drives now, but I struggle to get really crisp contact and as good distance as with my old 975J. I guess the massive head (by my standards) takes some getting used to.
  13. I play a TPi-27. Pros are: Center shaft (can't really deal with anything else), really toned down, sort of retro no frills appearance and a really heavy feel. Can't really think of any cons, I guess that's why I still hang on to it!
  14. I play old DCI 962 2i-PW. Amazing feel but not too unforgiving, low offset (I fight a hook rather than a slice), rather thin top lines and fairly traditional lofts (19°-48°) make these clubs fit my eye perfectly. They're starting to get a bit worn, that's all.
  15. I carry three wedges: PW: DCI 962 48 SW: Striker Tumba Line 52 LW: Striker Tumba Line 60 I keep my sand iron at 52 degrees of loft to not create a too large gap to my other irons. That way I pretty much only play full shots with my PW. The LW is my allround short game club, I use it on pretty much all shots inside 90 yards, including sand and chip shots. (Striker is a cheapo Swedish brand, they are cast blade style wedges. Not too bad but starting to get too worn. Looking to upgrade to a Vokey 52.08 and a spin milled 60.04)
