  1. I have a TaylorMade rescue 11 3 hybrid that I have only hit at the range 1 time and could sell it to you cheap if you find that you like them. I have the 4 and have it set to the lower loft and I absolutely love it. Let me know - Bert
  2. Keegan looks out at us. And judging from the look on his face, he disapproves.
  3. I can't find the article, do you have a link?
  4. I got a new Odyssey White Hot XG #1 a month or two ago for $89 at Golf Galaxy. Couldn't be happier, it's a great putter.
  5. I think that ball may only be available in the UK. Too bad, I'd love to find a "cheerful" ball.
  6. Can I ask then why you are playing a $32/dozen ball? I am a mid capper and definitely can tell the differences between crap and decent balls.
  7. I played the Srixon AD333 for a few months last year, not sure if that's what you mean by Srixon distance balls. I wouldn't put it in the same category as a TST or NXT Tour. I didn't like the ball flight, it wasn't as high as the TST. In general, 2 piece balls just don't feel as good off the clubface and don't spin nearly as well around the green as 3 piece, though I can't say I have ever hit a Srixon Softfeel, and I hear they're pretty decent.
  8. 8 dozen Srixon Trispeed Tour
  9. I have been working on my game a lot lately and using a lot of different balls and I have found that the distance of NXT and similar 3 piece non urethane non spin balls is very good. Try Srixon Trispeed Tour also.
  10. I played the e5 and e7 and wasn't crazy about either one. The e5 actually was pretty bad, it had a feel like a cheap 2 piece ball, I wouldn't call it hard, but kinda bouncy, if that makes sense. I haven't played the e6, but a friend of mine played through a dozen of them and said he was going back to whatever Nike ball he was playing. Also I don't have a problem hitting it straight with NXT or Trispeed tours, so I don't need help in that area.
  11. Golf Galaxy has a ball fitting service where you go in and spend $20 and hit a bunch of different balls. I have been researching and testing a lot of balls for about a year now, and I can tell you that what type of ball you play does make a difference. I can save you some time though and tell you that you are probably wasting your time playing tour level balls. You will notice they hold greens much better than non-urethane balls but spin like crazy off the tees and with the irons, and you will gain significant distance by staying away from them for now. I am a mid-capper and have settled on the Srixon Trispeed Tour - which has been discontinued, but is comparable to a NXT Tour.
  12. I like the Penta, they are good and soft and hold greens very well and have decent flight also. What I found when it comes to tour balls though is I like some over others, and plain dislike some. I like the ProV1x, Penta and Bridgestone B330 RX, and I dislike ProV1 and Callaway Tour i and Tour i(s). For me, the slightly higher and longer ballflight of the mid-level balls outweighs the spin and grip on the greens that tour balls get though. I wasted some scoring and quite a bit of money before I figured that out.
  13. I bought TaylorMade Rescue 11s, 3 and 4, 18* and 21*, this winter and have barely taken the 3 out of the wrapper. I don't even put it in my bag anymore, because I hit it at the range a while back and it is very similar to my 4. On a side note, I have a new - only hit like 10 times at a range - TaylorMade 3 hybrid, Aldila RIP 60 gram stiff for sale if anyone is interested...
  14. 1. Mickelson 276 T2. Donald 278 T2. Mahan 278
  15. Whichever one you choose, please choke on it! Just kidding, I wish I was where you are and not at my desk...
  16. How does that compare to the HX Bite, since it looks like the HX Bite is being discontinued and can be picked up for pretty cheap.
  17. I agree that shaft is very important when going after trajectory, but have you tried a ball that is in between the options you listed? I find the NXT Tour and Srixon Trispeed Tour have great mid-high trajectories, where the ProV1x doesn't get high enough for me. You will notice less grip from around the greens, but my game has improved a lot since ditching the ProV1x, which is what I thought I should be playing.
  18. I have been testing out a lot of balls for the past 6 months (that must be why my scores are all over the place...) and have played pretty much all the big guys - pro V1x, Penta, B330 RX, etc, and have narrowed my choices to the NXT Tour, Callaway HX Hot and Srixon Trispeed Tour. These mid price, non urethane covered balls just feel great and fly better and longer and lower my score even if they don't stick to the greens like a high spin ball. I'm actually starting to prefer the Trispeed Tour, which is probably the least spinny of the bunch, the only downside I can find is if you're hitting onto a hard green it tends to bounce and roll out, but on good greens it is much more manageable (obviously). The TST flies like a rocket off the clubface, high, straight and long. Anyone else put this ball up against other 3 piece non premium balls? Thanks
  19. I've found it's very helpful for dialing in distances to hit clubs of the same family through the bag as much as possible, i.e. TaylorMade r11 fws/driver,TM burner irons/hybrids, Cleveland cg family wedges, etc... I was having a similar problem to yours with big gaps in my yardages until after last season I went about trying to get some more consistency through my bag, now I like to think I have pretty much all yardages covered.
  20. No worries guy. I'm enjoying the site and the forum so far and I'm glad this all got straightened out. I played over the weekend - supposed to be 52 and sunny here in Maryland, turned out to be 41 and cloudy, damn weatherman - and still actually have not hit the 3, but the 4 I used for my 2nd on a 518 yard par 5. Trying to lay up 30-40 yards short of the green and actually hit it pin high about 10 yards left of the green! Damn near birdied the hole for the first time ever, but ended up with a solid par. This club is rocket!
  21. One time I was playing my home course and the idiots in the group in front of me kept driving their cart onto the green even after I and another guy in my group said something to them. Now I'm no model golfer, but I do have respect for the course and that wasn't right, so I decided on one hole I would speed up and try to get to my second shot into the green quickly. Now it was a longshot, but I lined it up and was going to try to hit the cart, which was about 160 yards away. I didn't hit the cart but did manage to drop my ball inside of the ahole's putt, which was awesome. there was even an inch deep ball mark in his line! We had words at the next tee box and they tried to explain that one of their guys had bad knees and needed to drive onto the green. Well then you can't play this couse, Dbreath!!! They didn't make the turn, packed it in and left after 9 holes. Score one for me and my home course.
  22. Break 90 by June, break 85 by end of year. This will be done by straightening out my drive. I can bomb that thing when I get into it, just a matter of keeping it left consistently. Putting and irons are actually pretty decent. When I hit the fairway with a long drive I can usually par or bogey a hole, even an occasional bird.
  23. Thank You!!! The reason I have it as my avatar is I'm told I look very much like him - Christain Bale, not necessarily Patrick Bateman, a crazy person...
  24. I agree 100% but I'm not seeing an edit feature. If someone could show me how to do this I'd appreciate it.
  25. I'm pretty sure the R9 didn't get marked down until late 2010, which was the end of the season and right before they introduced the r11. TaylorMade introduced the R9 supetri and superdeep 1 year after introducing the r9 and 1 year before discontinuing the whole line and introducing the r11, much like they've done now with the r11s, so if the past is any indication, I think it will be late 2012 before the r11 clubs are marked down. This is my recollection, as I got r9 woods and driver in late 2010. But then again, $199 for a r11 fairway is a pretty good price already, didn't they start out at $249?
