  1. I think the two of them playing a practice round was one of the smartest things Wood's camp has done for his image in a long time.
  2. Welcome to the forum, In my opinion you should play the shot shape that is more reliable for you. If that means you have to play away from the pin but are able to avoid trouble so be it. Your job is to score lower.
  3. If he had told Macatee that he would have looked pretty stupid. He will not qualify for Harding Park
  4. I'm feeling optimistic I went with 139.5. However, I am still not convinced he is playing. I cannot think of a reason why he would wait to announce whether or not he is playing other than he is still unsure if he is ready. If that is the case he is not ready which also means I have completely contradicted myself. I guess that is part of being a fan.
  5. There seems to be lots of chatter today. http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/notah-tiger-50-50-chance-play-masters/ http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/love-dont-count-out-tiger-just-yet/ It often feels like team Tiger has a way of changing the conversation before big announcements. I am not saying that they are good at it. My guess is that he will commit early next week.
  6. I believe this statement is spot on. Spieth, McIlroy, Reed and others are great players who are playing great golf but they have not transcended to sport. To be honest I do not think Phil did either. The ability for a golfer to do that is extremely rare. I do believe that golf is in fair to good shape but not great. In the end purse sizes and TV rating will settle the argument of if this is must see TV.
  7. Thanks EverythingGolf I appreciate that. For some reason it is always hard to bring those go feels that you find in a lesson. For the past two weeks I did my best to be a stupid monkey and I think it started to pay off today. I am still setting up with my right side a bit two high and I would like to come from the inside a bit more. All feedback welcome. I shot this video today in my small lab in my basement. The video uploaded at full speed...not sure why.
  8. I thought I would give a little update on my progress with the Super Speed Golf system. I have been doing the program pretty consistently for about two months. I track my progress on a white board that hangs on a wall right in front of where I train. I fairly competitive so having my past result right in front of me give me something to shoot for each training session. I have only had two opportunities to actually hit my driver since I started training. The first was at a dome where I brought my swing speed radar. The session was very encouraging (or so I thought). Making smooth swing that focused on good contact my speed was up about 6 to 8 miles an hour. My next opportunity was at Golf Evolution where I hit some shots on their Flight Scope. I only hit 4 drives there but it was apparent that my speed was not up and I was still flipping at the ball. See details here: http://thesandtrap.com/t/80490/my-swing-bjfox10 I believe that even though I was doing my best to make sound fundamental swings my competitive side got the better of me and I used that flip so that I could increase my speed results. I still believe the system can be beneficial for increasing swing speed. I just need to better monitor how I am moving the club while I train. I plan recording a couple of swings about once a week so that I can make sure that I do not fall back into bad habits. I have heard some where that speed kills...
  9. Thanks @iacas . I am currently waiting on some information from athletic director about our fall schedule. I coach boys volleyball in the fall so i just have to see how the two schedules align.
  10. That is an interesting take. I didn't think about the how he could use a slander lawsuit to clear his name for old allegations. If figured his PR people would advise him not to sue because headlines would read something like. "Billionaire golfer Tiger Woods sues struggling journeyman pro"
  11. I've been Playing Golf for: 15 years My current handicap index or average score is: 2.5 My typical ball flight is: Draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: flip weak and right I have been fortunate to be able to work with Dave and Erik at Golf Evolution since December 2011. I thought I'd share a bit of my journey with some pictures and the video below. My most recent visit this past Friday was exceptionally good Dave's description of how I needed to shorten the radius with my left arm in the downswing really made things fall in place. Videos: Here is a photo from my first visit to Erie. The ability to move correctly into my left side is something that we worked on a lot my first couple of visits. I believe this work largely contributed to better ball striking. We have also spent a lot of time improving my ability to maintain my inclination to the ground. Below is a photo from a video I took today where my focus was on shortening the radius of my left arm on a driver swing. Because the swing was in my garage and I don't have a net there is no ball to hit. The red dots indicate but end of my club in the backswing in the blue on the downswing.
  12. To my knowledge Butch has never commented on why the two split. Tiger has stated that he needed to go another direction because he could no longer snap his left knee it transition. IMO both of them have big controlling personalities and they just could not make it work any longer...too many alpha's in the pack.
  13. While I am not sure to what level Tiger will be able to return to comparing him to Tyson is poor at best. In Tyson's book he admits to using cocaine daily and partying instead of training. Unless, we we get a report from Medalist we can't be sure how hard Tiger is working but I don't think he is a coke head.
  14. Yes, I would switch. As other have said it would increase your chances of winning.
  15. I believe he should work on Keys number 2 and 4 which will help the some issues that he is having with key number 5. Like others have have said I believe he could back improve how he banks on his right foot. This would allow him to deliver the club properly from the inside. Right now the club does come from inside but it is because he is beginning to run out of right arm and he is throwing the club head out creating a path that may be to for from the inside. Proper banking of the right foot will give him the room he need to keep the angle in his right elbow a bit longer. There are a number of ways that he can work on this such as @iacas thread that talks about keeping a tripod in front of the right knee or simply making small slow swings focusing on keeping the right heel down longer. Next, I would like to see him keep his right elbow in front of his shirt seem at the top of his swing. I believe this would also help him get into a better pitch elbow position. How I would do this would be to ask him to keep his right elbow soft through out the swing. This should allow the elbow to fold correctly in the backswing so that it stays in front of the shirt seem in transition.
  16. Are they all on steroids? Or are we not quite finished developing at age 19?
  17. What 1. I would like to see him strengthen his grip. Why 1. I believe this would give him a different feel for the club face closing and one that is more reliable. Right now it appears to me that one of the reasons that he is extending early and throwing out his angles is a effort to close the face. How 1. Other then the obvious of turning his hands to the right you should also check to see if he has the club in his fingers and not his palm. Next What 1. It is tough to see without a face on view but I am guessing that he does not have enough weight forward prior or at impact Why 1. This would also contribute to the early extension or else the club would crash into the ground. How 1. There are lots of different ways to practice this one but I like the idea of focusing on Key #1 while moving into your left side. Examples would be having someone hold something above your head so that you are aware of when you stand up...or you can have something on the ground that appears to be over the ball if your head moves the picture that was at address will change. Disclaimer: Not all of these ideas are my own I have done a lot of this type of work in Erie. But at least I remember it.
  18. I don't believe we will see him retire anytime soon. For one there is too much money on the table...he just signed two or three endorsement deals. I know he doesn't need it but I don't think he'd want to give it up either. I also do not believe this latest WD will be that big of a deal. He made a mistake by just standing around during a two and a half hour weather delay. At the very least he should have gotten off his feet. He warmed up...cooled down and then went out to play, not the best approach.
  19. Let me see how close I can come to tomorrows answers. TW "The bump really was not that hard. As many of you were aware thanks to your close up photos (Tiger's attempt at humor) the tooth was not doing well. The doc was trying to get me to remove it for years. I don't listen well to docs (more Tiger humor). The tooth broke just below the gum line and did not hurt. The last thing I wanted to do was take any attention away from Linsey so I just had Stieny call my dentist on my way home". In many ways it makes some sense.
  20. @sunned123 This some impressive improvement! I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. Was the simulator Trackman/Fightscope or is it one that you have been on before to establish a base line? When I or anyone is doing this training you are moving the sticks as fast as you can. Were you going as hard as you could in the the simulator? Or was it more your normal effort. Do you notice much difference in dispersion or ball flight?
  21. I am going with Phil. The word Butch tipped me off. Plus, I do not see traj, reps, or release patterns so I did not pick Woods.
  22. After my first session I jumped right into the Balance, Core Stability, and Power programs. Right now I am doing the program 3 times a week on Sunday (Core Stability), Wednesday(Balance) and Friday (Power). I knew that if I did just the Level 1 Training Protocol I would get bored quickly. To be honest the additional exercises in the 3 protocols are not that difficult but the change each day keeps things interesting. Each exercise calls for just 5 reps the key is to put everything you have in those 5 reps. I am recording my progress a little differently than @cedrictheo is...I have my initial speeds written down and then I keep track of my personal records. This includes my driver which I swing 5 times after each workout. But to be honest the results I'm more interested to see is how my club head speed has changed or not the next time I am on Flightscope or Trackman. My first day with the program my top speed with the driver was 93 mph. As I initially stated I believe that speed to be a little bit low because each time I've been on Trackman or Flight scope my speed has averaged between 100 and 102. After I did a little digging I found that the radar company claims that if you are not actually hitting a ball your speed suffer by about 10%. They claim this is due to not having anything to release at. This would then make sense my numbers would be right in line with where they have been the last couple of years. Friday night i hit 102 with driver. Do I really believe that I have picked up 9 mph already...no. I believe that I am timing the release without a ball a bit better and hoping I picked up a little speed.
  23. I tried swings tonight with the halogen light on and off. I did not pick up any significant difference. In fact in the ten swings that I measured (5 with normal light 5 with the halogen) my fastest swing was with the normal light. The good news is that I have seen a small amount of progress in each session.
  24. I am doing the training in my basement so the lighting is not great. However, I do have a halogen light that I use to record swings with my phone. My next training is on Friday so I'll do some experimenting with it on and off. And you are right about the feedback it is giving. The numbers do not seem to vary much so while they may not be perfect I believe I can still track progress. For example, when I focus on the work that I have done with @golfevolution w hich is getting my arms down faster my numbers go up.
  25. I completely agree not to mention hasn't this story already run a number of times. I know he does not give up as much information as people would like but recycling these old stories is getting old. Tell me if you have heard these before... "Tiger is a lousy tipper" "Tiger needs more reps" "Tiger needs more rest" "It's his short game" "It's his swing" "He need to play golf not golf swing"
