too close, straight up. Like everyone else said...why not club up a few clubs and actually go for the green?...its not like your set stops at 6 iron. Also, because of this, I agree that it would be hard to believe you were laying up from 140 if I was the group on the green.

Fair enough...take out the word rumor/s and what I said still applies

The anti-handicap formula is similar to the handicap formula: 1. Determine your worst 10 differentials. (A differential is score minus Course Rating, multiplied by 113 over course Slope Rating.) 2. Add those 10 together. 3. Multiply by .096. (A less precise method is to add your 10 worst scores and multiply by .096.) basically your handicap if you used your 10 worst scores.

erm...I'm with you on Lori being overly critical of the other players, but you say you heard a rumor about her and then say she obviously hasn't made the best choices in her life. First off, you even called it a rumor...so uh...lets leave it at that. Second...what does problems with alcohol and cocaine have to do with The Big Break?, and with her being critical of others? Like I said I'm with you about Lori being a bitch, but the problems( rumors ) you mentioned don't really factor in for me.

did this on a par 5 a couple months back, was my first and only also. Hooked my tee shot OB...hit my provisional down the left side as well..but took some off of it due to my last shot. Got to the provisional...215 to flag...hit it 30ft to the left but on the green...made the putt. Definitely best par of my life.

Are remanufactured/refurbished balls ok?
atltony replied to GaijinGolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I will say though as far as used pro-v1s from retail stores I've seen...target has the highest quality, hands down. I'll occasionally buy used pro-v1s from Sports Authority (Middle quality, $20-dozen), and Academy Sports (Low-Middle quality, $30-30ct.)...but the ones for $24 at target have been re-clearcoated and look pristine, and have played true. -
Which ironwood should I next get?

...and my Cleveland 3 hybrid is 22degrees. Just goes to show it doesn't matter at all what number companies call a hybrid, just look at the loft. -
Plastic or Wood Tees? Something Else?
atltony replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I second this...all I need is basically the head of a broken wooden tee for iron shots. Pushing the zero-friction tees all the way in the ground has to be a pain and surely makes them more susceptible to breaking due to not being able to move any in the ground when pushed all the way in. -
Had an inconsistent day at the range and figured it would be the best time to take my first swing videos, my thought process being if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong when I'm inconsistent it will be much easier than trying to replicate what I see when I'm in the groove. Sorry for the video quality all I had was my cellphone on me...but I think you can get a good idea. http://www.swingacademy.com/swingana...l.aspx?id=1114 http://www.swingacademy.com/swingana...l.aspx?id=1116 This is my first time taping and viewing my swing...but a few things I noticed: -Back is hunched a bit...need to straighten that out/work on posture. -I take the club back a little too far...seems that this causes it to point marginally across my target line. -My head drops a bit coming into the impact zone/downswing. Anyone got any insight?...My ball flight with my irons is usually straight/to the tiniest of draws...The shots with my 8 iron in the video tailed a bit to the right at the end of their ball-flight. I haven't had any formal golf instruction...so any comments are appreciated.

Plastic or Wood Tees? Something Else?
atltony replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Zero-friction tees, hands down. I bought a 50 pack about a year ago and still have like 35...and the missing 15 are in probably still in friends' pockets and bags. You know those friends that get to the first tee box and realize they don't have any tees?...I'll give them ONE zero-friction on the first tee box and not have them ask me for another tee for like...well...lets just say more than a few rounds (and thats probably just because they misplaced it.) In all honesty I've only broken two of these tees out of this pack in about a year's time....and that was more due to the super hard tee boxes and me accidentally bending them trying to get them in all round. -
Is There A Such thing as hitting it too high?
atltony replied to onthehunt526's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
+4. Seems to be working ok. But like...if you hit these moon balls all the time, what is it half a club short in comparison to?...isn't it kind of like just the distance you hit it? I'd say just accept(?) your distances as what they are...hone them to improve on your +4. and uh...if you don't hit them all the time then try to figure out what you're doing differently when they occur...maybe the ball is creeping forward?...coming down a little too steep?... -
Does this pose a problem for the future? (grip issue)
atltony replied to atltony's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I don't grip the club in the palm of my hand...the grip lays in my fingers. However, I just don't really grip the club at all with those fingers on my right hand. I do grip with my right pinky...along with all the fingers on my left hand...but that's about it. -
While I have no doubt become a much better golfer in the recent months/year...I have begun to notice a couple things that seem odd to me. The one issue in particular has to do with my grip, specifically my right hand. When I take my grip, and throughout the swing (to the best of my knowledge) I barely grip the club with my right ring and middle fingers. And by barely I mean basically not at all. I use an interlocking grip if that makes a difference. I just want to make sure this won't cause problems such as gripping too tightly with my left hand/fingers. Does anyone out there do this? Any insight?

That's very interesting because when I am having a bad day swing-wise I will hit a few balls with as short of a backswing as possible, just accelerating through the ball. It's crazy how The ball still goes just as far and like you (sonicblue) said just feels so effortless and easy to make precise contact with the ball. Maybe I should really try to see where this imaginary point is in my backswing and really shorten my backswing to that point.

I've bought a couple of the reload 30ct. bags of pro-v1s and I would say that minor scuff marks usually won't keep me from playing the ball...however a handfull of the balls I've gotten have had like raised "bumps" almost like air had gotten inbetween the cover and the boundary layer?...I wouldn't play with a ball like this...even if it wouldn't throw a putt offline I would still be thinking about the possibility while putting.

As far as distance and forgiveness go I would look for a driver with a loft degree north of 12degrees...with a slower swing speed more loft will usually help with overall distance. I also second the shaft being most important.

I bought my yes! putter used as well and it did not come with a headcover. I bought my yes! headcover off ebay from user: Par 4 INC . All of their yes! headcovers seem to have a buy it now price of $15. This is the only one I see that would fit the Tiffany: http://cgi.ebay.com/YES-C-Groove-Put...2em118Q2el1247 I was more than satisfied with my headcover as I had heard of earlier versions using velcro on the neck closure instead of magnets. The one I recieved had the magnetic closure.

I would guess that the main idea of an impact bag is to be able to see what position you are in exactly at impact (hands, arms, chest, hips, club face, shaft of club....etc.) You know?...instead of trying to take a swing and stop at impact to check your positions (which doesn't really work seeing as you will most likely subconsciously change you're swing when thinking about stopping at impact...leading to incorrect info in regards to your positions at impact) you can actually take a real swing and just place the bag at the desired "ball" position.

The 755's look really nice at address... thin top line, not a HUGE club head like other irons...comparable to my 735's. Its just all that red pizazz going on in the back that throws me off. In all honesty I would think at the level of a 7 handicap you could go with something leaning more towards the feedback side of things rather than forgiveness. Obviously I only have 'musclebacks' from 8 to PW...but I can't really see much lack of forgiveness in comparison to the 7-4 iron which have progressively deeper cavities. I was kind of in the same situation as you (well, higher handicap but wanted a more traditional looking iron with less offset) and I would say you might give a look at some combo/mixed sets. I was fairly confident I didn't want blades/musclebacks for my long irons...seeing how I happen to have a few mishits now and again. The combo set worked really well for me, gave me the look I needed to be happy and confident over my iron shots...and really has helped me to groove a more consistent swing without really giving up much in terms of forgiveness.

Shot an 85 at Brown's Mill (70.9/123)...which I would usually be happy with but I just felt like I gave up so many shots that I didn't have to at all. Hit 9 fairways!...4 GIRS ...one double...four pars...one birdie. Drove the ball so well with a few getting out around the 300 mark...actually hit my two best drives on the first and last holes. Carried a bunker on #10 (first hole) that I have wound up in a lot...and hit a drive on #9 (last hole) which was about 10yds short of the bottom of the elevated green...hole is 345yds.

All three of the ranges I go to seem to have about the same prices...$4 for a small (35 balls?)...$7/$8 for a medium (75 balls?) and $10 for a large (100 balls)...and one of the ranges has a jumbo (150 balls) for $12. I used to be that $10 or $12 dude, but the last couple of months I haven't been hitting balls at the range much and when I do I've been hitting a medium bucket. Really? It still takes me like 45 minutes to hit a medium...used to take over an hour with a large bucket. You should try not pouring all your balls into the little 'trough' or on the ground beside you. Instead just leave the bucket a few steps behind you so you have to go back and grab a ball after each shot...line up to your target...posture up and swing, repeat. Has helped me not just machine gun through buckets of balls, and actually made the few times I've been the range lately way more productive.

I would say I would at least check my grip before going out and buying a new iron set. While a lot of offset will have the tendency to draw the ball a bit...a lot of people (including myself) tend to let their grip wander towards the "strong" side of things. Check and see if you grip is neutral or if you have changed anything about your grip and go from there.

I practice putting, chipping, and pitching at the practice green every other day basically...and the days I'm not out there I'm keeping my putting stroke in line at the house. When I go out the the practice green I usually spend about 2-3 hours...will usually get loose hitting short little chip shots...then move on to more aggressive pitch shots. From there I will try to pitch/chip about 5 balls close to a hole, and proceed to putt them out. After I tire of that I will drop the wedges and hit some putts. Ill start out short, get an uphill putt...a downhill...and left-to-right/right-to-left putts. Move on to longer lag putts with the same variations in putts. After I feel my putter is doing satisfactory I will usually try to recreate some tough up and downs I have encountered in which I have to hit a challenging flop, pitch that checks...whatever. The most important thing is to make it fun or you'll never want to be out there. After the putting part of my practice I'll usually try to find some random person who wants to have a chip-off or whatever, competition always makes things a little more interesting for me anyway. After all of this (usually 2-1/2 hrs) I MIGHT hit a bucket of balls...but really only if my swing has been worrying me or something...but I'll hit no more than one bucket a week usually.

18th hole...505 par 5 dogleg left...plays a little shorter if you cut off some of the left side just over the tip of a pond. Hit an alright tee shot, missed the sweet spot and faded about 5 yards...left with 245 in. The main defense of this hole is that the green is elevated about 30 feet or so, with one bunker at the bottom right corner of the hill, and one hugging the green in front on the left. I figured that since longest club I hit off the deck (my 16degree hybrid) goes 230 and my pitching had been on that I would hit the 16, coming up short of the bunker at the bottom of the hill for a little wedge. I proceeded make the closest to perfect swing I have ever made in my golfing history...hitting the ball to the front right fringe of the green. 245yds taking into account the elevated green I was obviously surprised, but the ball just felt different and actually looked different traveling away. I proceeded to hit a little pitch up the green which sloped back down towards me...took a hop, passed over the hole...another hop and stopped. Made the downhill right to left footer for birdie. Shot an 84. Still waiting on that eagle .

WEC is owned by Zuffa, UFC's parent company...so not gonna happen. I feel like thats the reason they bought/created WEC (not sure which)...to cover the lower weight classes.
