  1. Now I'm going to have to find one of those sharp ball repair tools..
  2. Just so I'm perfectly clear, this is not a general USGA rule but may be imposed by the committee for a specific tournament, correct? Nothing illegal in a general round of golf switching brands / types of balls between holes?
  3. Nothing wrong with AMD. I'm running an Athlon X2 4400+ right now on this PC. I do echo the "Get a Mac" sentiment, since that is also my first choice. I have had an AMD 1700+ die on me.. first and only time I had a proc crap out, so it does happen, but not very often. Get another proc that the mobo supports and give it a shot.
  4. I bought an old titanium Callaway Warbird 3 wood for $29 that I love. Mine actually says "Ruger Titanium" on it.
  5. I'm not sure I'm complaining...
  6. If you don't count older clubs that were given to me, my grandparents clubs (some nifty old hickory shafts, etc) but rather just putters that I have purchased, I have 2: 1. Odyssey White Hot #5 2. Some cheap blade I bought when I first bought clubs. I've been eyeing older used Ping Anser's lately, and I'm also considering building a Golfsmith USS Enterprise putter, mostly for fun, but it felt pretty good when I tried it out at the store..
  7. I just did this clubmaking workshop this past Saturday. Built a 600W Forged 52deg wedge, and bent it to 48deg. The workshop was a lot of fun, I learned a lot and I love the wedge. Note: The 600W is not the wedge head they normally give you as part of the class, but you can pick your head and pay the difference.
  8. Woo. Go Tribe!!
  9. My bag says I'm cheap and like to buy older used clubs.
  10. I was talking to clubmaker over the weekend, and he is a strong proponent of steel shafts for irons. Basically what he said is that most of the research for graphite shafts is for woods and hybrids, and that the torque of graphite shafts can kill your accuracy on your irons. There are lightweight steel shafts available now, and the most expensive steel shafts are cheaper or as expensive as the cheaper graphite iron shafts. Who knows what's best, but I thought it was interesting.
  11. Shouldn't have answered. Did you call them on it for asking?

    Sunglasses

Yes. Prescription polarized lenses (blue on the outside -- woo).
  13. "Be the ball" - Ty Webb "Sex and golf are the two things you can enjoy even if you're not good at them." - Roy "Tin Cup" McAvoy
  14. On the ball: No matter what type of ball (right now, Noodle), I fill in a dimple to the left of the number with green sharpie, and to the right of the number with silver sharpie. On the green: I found that the divot tool I have holds a US Quarter just as well as the ball marker that came with it, so I use a US Quarter from my birth year.
  15. Odyssey White Hot #5 -- 33"
  16. I recently picked this one up at Half Price Books. Great read!
  17. I tried the Brush-T's, found that they were impossible to put the ball on after a few rounds. Now I stick with Stinger Tees .
  18. I've got an Grom, and it's great. It's got the Wedge' top which has 8 holes, 4 small ones down the left side, a putter pocket at the top and 3 iron pockets along the right, with little ridges for the shafts to sit in. In the 4 small ones, I put -- from top to bottom -- Driver, 3wood, hybrid, hybrid. I only use the top and bottom iron pockets, the top has 5-PW and the bottom has the wedges.. this keeps them from overlapping and the shorter ones being hard to get. I put my ball retriever in the 'middle' iron pocket, snug up against the woods and the putter in the putter pocket.
  19. I've got 3 Pinemeadow Command hybrids and I like 'em quite a bit. I also picked up a 54deg "Classic Grind" wedge which is pretty nice, but I'm still working out how to hit that one.
  20. My go-to shot off the tee is a giant banana slice, aim 30deg left of target and land it in the right rough or the parallel fairway.
  21. FootJoy Contours are comfortable. So are Adidas Tech Response (look like tennis shoes). My problem is that no matter what shoes I try, I seem to be prone to heel blisters. I've finally found a solution -- 1" athletic tape over the 'spot' on my heels -- no more limping around the back nine.

    Undies

    Hybrids (Boxer-Briefs)
  24. I'm ok with winter rules or SortaGolf if the course is busy to speed up play, or if everyone agrees to it ahead of time. It's only a gimmie if one of your playing partners gives it to you. I never pick up my ball from a short putt unless someone I'm playing with says "that's good.. pick it up.".
