  1. Any one watching it now? interesting stuff.. haha cheers for the link dude... this will get me through uni :)
  2. FWIW a protein filled diet combined with whey protein supplement shakes after every work out will dramatically decrease recovery times between work outs, steroids are not the only way to decrease recovery times.
  3. The golf swings all about cause and effect.... its all very well saying you come over the top but its finding the reason that will cure your golf swing. At address your weight favours your left side too much, you want to feel a 50/50 split between your right and left feet, with a slight 'tilt' of the spine away from the target. Another thing to note is that your right hand grip is way too strong, the V formed by your thumb and fore finger should point to your right shoulder, in your case it points towards the left. This will not cure the swing, but will go a long way to alleviating it, improving your set up will stop you from dragging the club inside the line on your take away and getting to flat at the top of the swing. Once you feel comfortable with your new set up, try taking the club away a bit further outside the line, this is a good video that will help explain what I'm trying to say:
  4. My Goals for 2009 are as follows (and subject to constant change) Get down to a 2.8 handicap or less Get on the second team at golf college Increase clubhead speed by 5 mph Continue to get high marks in my golf coaching degree Continue to live life to the full.... don't waste time... if I have a free 45 minutes I should be doing something with it, not just browsing through facebook or ironically, wasting time on forums.
  5. I still genuinely believe that most people do not know what a 300 yard drive really is, and what it takes to achieve one. Granted I live in England where 300 yard drives are harder to achieve than in America but it would take a good 110 mph + swing to come close to that yardage, a 110 mph swing is not easy to achieve, on top of that SS you still need to hit the ball solidly. I must admit I would challenge most the high handicaps who claim to hit it miles to a long drive contest, as quite frankly I don't believe them, I have played with plenty of 'long' high handicappers who just can't come close to me, and I'm not 'long' off the tee (imo).
  6. Hardly 'pin point' accuracy
  7. FWIW, Steroids are only worth taking if your very knowledgeable about them and if your body has reached its natural limit (size wise). Taking steroids inappropriately can and probably will lead to bad side effects. Tiger IMO has too many experts around him telling him not to, and Tiger is too smart to take steroids. Tigers gain in size will have been achieved through an immaculate diet and a very intense training regime, it could almost be considered an insult to accuse him of taken steds. Oh, and just a little opinion of mine, but it is worth remembering that Gary Players announcements of players taking performance enhancing drugs happened to coincide with the release of his new book
  8. With a stunning girlfriend
  9. Went on a golfing holiday to La Manga (Spain), left my bag outside the proshop as we went to sign in, came back out to find my Ping G5 driver gone, rather annoying... hope the stealing **** hit it terribly.
  10. 14th according to BBC IIRC.
  11. IIRC this is to do with the 'fast points' throughout the golf swing. Amateur golfers generally start the downswing much faster than pro's do, the amateurs swing speed at this point is actually faster than a pro's. Pro's on the other hand start the down swing much much slower and let the speed build gradually so that the fast point of the swing is at impact. The advice saying 'Amateurs swing to fast, and should slow down' is probably given to slow down the beginning of the downswing to ensure the fast point of the swing is at the point of impact.
  12. Cant go wrong with Snake Eyes for Irons, have never hit the woods though.
  13. In fairness to him, Monty pleaded innocence but donated all earnings from that particular tournament to charity in an effort to remove the tension, at most this was a case of using the rules to his advantage, and not a case of blatant cheating, IMO.
  14. What are your aims/goals?
  15. If I had 18 holes in one the best I could do would be to match my age
  16. I wear a ring on the middle finger of my right hand, never take it off.... I don't find it gets in the way when playing golf, although it isn't on my glove hand which probably makes a difference.
  17. I really like the site, think its well run and well organised, if I was to criticize anything it would be that some forum members seem to cross the line between friendly debate and heated argument, this is only a minority of posters however. This line seems to be crossed if an England/Europe vs America topic comes up, but hey, we are all guilty of it in some way or another (I know I am far from perfect).
  18. Wilson are a well priced club with a good brand name. Snake Eyes are top notch, probably on a par with Titleist heads etc, just with out the expensive brand name.
  19. Take out the 3 iron and put in a slightly more lofted hybrid, say 22 - 23 degrees, which should bridge the gap between your 5 wood and 4 iron, leaving space in the back for the extra gap wedge
  20. As I said, I assume it to be right, my mistake... no harm done. Maybe you might want to try not getting so defensive about it
  21. It is *the* definition of sport, regardless of how accurate you deem it to be, thats just what a *sport* is defined as.
  22. You might wanna check your facts there buddy , I know what you said to be false on the CONGU system, and would assume its false on your system as well. My bag - Nike Sasqautch Tour 9.5 with Stiff V2 - use this loft because I do not have a high ball flight, this provides me with the ball flight I like to see, allows a good mixture of carry and roll. I would consider going to a higher launching shaft with a lower loft in the summer to take advantage of the hard fairways. Cleveland Hibore 15 with Stiff V2 - Love the head, a bit too big if I was being picky, same shaft as driver for consistency, although I still believe the shaft isn't right for me. (With Nike head cover). Nike Slingshot tour 18 with Standard Stiff shaft - got this for free, and it complemented my Nike theme nicely, provides a nice high ball flight and is easy to work, probably my favorite club in the bag. Irons - Snake Eyes 600B/C with Stiff DynaLite shafts, 3 - 5 cavity 6 - PW blade. Use the DynaLite shaft as I prefer a lighter feeling iron. Wedges - Nike SV (black) 52 and 60, love the look and feel of these, provide very good spin and control. Putter - undecided, luckily I do not play competitive golf over the winter so have plenty of time to find a new one, although currently using an original Ping Answer putter and am holing a lot of putts :) Balls - Nike one Platinum, although I am about to start testing the Bridgestones because I can get them free and their performance is apparently equal/better to that of the Pro-V At the end of the summer 2009 I am going to get myself custom fitted for an entire new set of clubs, the reason for this being: 1) I am at golf college, receiving free coaching and am forever improving (handicap in this case should be ignored as I dont play competitively over winter, and my 'playing handicap' is a lot lower) 2) At college I have access to the gym, and am following a strict gym and diet regime, because of this my body shape will change a lot, as will my strength, power and speed. 3) A lot of my equipment is getting old, and I want to make sure my equipment does not hold me back, it will get to the point where the clubs will just flat out not suit me any more, another year at golf college and the clubs will most likely not be the best 'fit' for me.
  23. Activity: golf carrying clubs Category: sports Calories burned: 202.125 (Kcals) in 30 minutes for a person weighing 70 kg Why do you keep saying this, I have not made up any statistic, and everything I have said I can back up with academia? Please justify this, the use of strategy and technique should never disqualify something from being a sport It is quite obvious the golf swing as a physical motion uses much more energy, requires more effort, speed and precision than anything you have mentioned above. A definition of sport taken from the Oxford Dictionary: "A game or competitive activity, esp. an outdoor one involving physical exertion. A person behaving in a specified way, esp. regarding games, rules, etc." Sums it up nicely, golf is a sport, no matter how much you try to refute it :).
  24. 202.125 (Kcals) in 30 minutes carrying your clubs - Golf. 183.75 (Kcals) in 30 minutes softball or baseball fast or slow pitching. The statistic you focused on being 'Walking and carrying your clubs' I assume means a mix of walking with and without a bag on your back for 30 minutes, which doesn't really offer a direct and accurate comparison. If the baseball player is pitching continuously for 30 minutes then the golfer would have to be carrying the bag for 30 minutes to offer fair results. So um, thats taken from the same site, I have quoted statistics that prove you wrong, I have also read studies in to this, so don't question my accuracy here unless you can counter it with correct evidence
