Yesterday, playing hole 7, I had a 200 yd carry over water to a green with a bunker on the left and more water on the right. Was playing well so far that day and took out the 5 wood. A little extra club to 5 wood, a little extra club to make sure I could carry the water. Swung about 85%, hit it perfectly, but sliced it into the water. Made bogey, but it was worth the try. I could live with a bogey, but it would have made my day if I made eagle. GO FOR IT

What tees and yardage do you play from? I try to play from the second to back tees, (My course has 5 sets of tees), but I know some of my friends who try to play the championship tees but it is just too overwhelming. The second to back tees are about 6900, and the championship tees are about 7200. We play at Quail Hollow Country Club,(Charlotte,NC) where the PGA Tour's Wells Fargo Championship takes place. Would yo rather challenge yourself more by playing from where the pros play? or playing your style?

Music on the Course - When Did This Become a Thing?
Fake WSimpson replied to wedge player's topic in Golf Talk
Do you listen to music while playing golf? Either on the range or course. Plead your case. Personally, I do not because I feel it would be inconsiderate to other golfers. -
thanks for the info. I'm currently a sophomore in high school. who regularly shoots around even par. I am playing in some summer tournaments but is kin of curious how I would get some attention. Do I send a letter to colleges? Do they come talk to me? etc.

Any of you guys play or have played college golf? Where? What did it take to get there? Your handicap? Tournaments you played in?

How did you start playing this wonderful game?
Fake WSimpson replied to buckeyekid1996's topic in Golf Talk
Started when I was about 4. My Dad would take me out to the putting green in the evenings after work (like 6- 6:30). Then later, I remember hitting 7 irons in my backyard when I was about 4 1/2. I was addicted to the game ever since, and am getting some looks from colleges which is a lot of fun. -
Would you rather have a 15 foot putt to win the Masters (a miss is an automatic loss)? Or have your opponent have a 25 for putt to win the Masters and beat you?

most bizarre or funny shot you have hit (or seen)

Ok, animal lover, and that's why your avatar is you holding a dead fish -
hahahahaha. what a f***ing story! I don't mean to laugh at your pain, but that was a pleasant read.

Shot a 74 yesterday. (Par 72), 2 birdies, 4 bogeys Our team was #2 in the state and in the match yesterday beat the #1 team. So know we are #1 in Va. Had a lot of missed putts from 15-20 ft. That could have helped my score a lot. But I hit the majority of the fairways which is always a good thing; and kept the ball in play all day.

I have had a couple of putts do 360's. But other than that, I can't really think of anything that come to mind. Feel free to share your "unlucky" moment while playing either a competitive round, or just a weekend round. God Bless

I will quiet the non-believers when I win the Masters

I am just going to put this incident behind me because I want to preserve my professional integrity. I am the real Webb Simpson, and I hope you guys can understand that. Be sure to watch the Masters this week, and cheer me on as I am about to go off the first tee for a practice round with Scott Stallings at 12:35. Can't wait to play Augusta, dream come true. God Bless

Williamevanl, With all due respect, you are mistaken. This is the first time I have seen those other posts about a fake me and UNC player. Other people could have made those fake posts, but I can promise you that I am who I say I am. You can ask me anything about my life to try and satisfy your doubting. Hopefully, you can understand the mixup. God Bless

Hey David, it's nice to here from a fellow Charlottean and a fan of mine. It is possible to play Quail Hollow, you can be invited to play by a member as a guest, (75 bucks I think), or become a member yourself. I'm was blessed enough to have the ability to become a member of the club and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Johnson Wagner is also a relatively new member there too and we do like to play some rounds together from time to time there, as Ron Green said. As for the Wells Fargo Championship, I think it's a great tournament and it is always fun to play in front of a home crowd; one of the sites I look forward to each year and hope to continue playing there into the future. Thanks for supporting me at that tournament and thoughts to my family. Best to you and your family as well. God Bless

Well, there is actually nothing that can compare to the pressure of the Masters from what I've heard. You just have to put it in the back of your mind and go out there and play the best golf you can. As for preparation, I have already played a practice round with Scott Stallings (his first appearance also) and my caddie Paul Tesorie. Paul is a Masters veteran, being there 10 times before, so we basically went around the course planning what clubs to hit where, and working on short game using old pin placements. For both Scott and I, it was a good learning experience and we are heading down again next week for the final practice rounds and then the actual tournament. In answer to your question, the only difference in preparation for the Masters and any other event is more time to prepare, which allows you to take preparation to the next level there. God Bless

Thank you for your concern. I have decided to only answer selected questions periodically. I will not answer those who ask about money, negative things of other players, and negative things about my family. So everybody, keep this in mind when you ask questions. I will not be able to get to everyone and I'm sorry for that, but it would just be too much of a hassle. God Bless

I usually give out a couple after the round to some fans at the 18th green/autograph areas. I carry 2 extra gloves in my bag, with some granola in a plastic bag, bottles of water, maybe a cliff bar. I usually carry a couple of coins for ball marks. As for adjustments for tournament play, I take course management much more seriously. You can't just hit balls all overt the place on PGA caliber courses. Also, the pace of play slows down, (Not me personally) but when players ahead of us play slow, it causes a chain reaction. This is just due to players taking more care with each and every shot. Probably the biggest things in a tournament is keep the ball in play, always think fairways and greens. Hope these answers are adequate. God Bless
