I notice people in my field of vision more than most other breaches. I,too, would ban cell phone use during play. If you're that busy, stay at work!

It has always been the U.S. Open for me. It is the ultimate test of golf where par is usually the goal. I think Pinehurst was not a good choice last year. It let the player recover too easily from their mistakes. The Open championship is a close second. I love the strategy of Links golf and the battle with the elements plus the yellow leaderboard rocks.

Can I PLEASE get a ruling on breaking the GPS???
jmurder replied to tomkatpoker's topic in Golf Talk
My two cents. Imagine you are the course operator and someone broke something that you owned. What would you expect? I was raised in a way where if you broke it, you fix it.. -
I watched Paul Casey on the driving range yesterday on tv.. That is one simple, sweet, and repeatable swing

I learned to play in West Texas. Wind was just something you learned to deal with. We used to laugh when watching a pro tournament, an announcer would say the wind is gusting to 10 mph. That was calm conditions for us. Still live in Texas (always will). You just have to adjust to it. You learn to flight the ball a little more. I developed a forward press to help me hit it lmore solidly and lower.

TaylorMade Prepping to produce Non-Conforming Clubs
jmurder replied to mvmac's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It is just another marketing ploy by TM IMO. People are going to be deceived into thinking that those clubs will help them. It doesn't matter how good the arrow is if the archer can't shoot. -
Sergio is a tool. Tiger knows that .He is probably laughing at Sergio's ignorance, I know I am. Jealousy rears it ugly head yet again.

When I first started playing 24 years ago, I was in the oilfield. It was an awesome, quiet, peaceful place compared to the daily grind.. There were no phones, alarms, deadlines, or safety meetings. I then fell in love with the game. I was always a really good athlete and thought that golf would be easy like all other sports....wrong!!! The constant challenge of the game is what keeps bringing me back to the range and course. The fun bets with friends, playing different courses in the Houston area, and ,oh yeah, happy hour with the buds after.

Bubba Watson Gets Involved in the Gay Professional Athlete Debate
jmurder replied to Rick Martin's topic in The Grill Room
The times we live in are really sad. I can't believe there is so much time being spent on Collins. He isn't the only homosexual on the planet. I am with Mike Wallace. Do whatever you feel like you need to, but I don't understand it either. I can't believe the POTUS would call him and congratulate him. I just wish Scotty would beam me up some days. -
club ho.....I am going to use the spontaneous therapeutic forms of tension relief..... description just to get a response from my plant worker buddies

When I start pulling the ball, I focus on the left foot starting the downswing. I do that because to keep from shoving my left hip out in front. It is usually a good on course band aide. My left foot comes up about half an inch on the backswing, so it is a pretty easy thing for me to do.

@jowlar I am a full time coach( football, baseball, and golf) that wishes I had the paycheck of HR, lol. You are right about coaching swing changes. I have 19 kids and 8 of them haven't been playing long. They badically have 30 minutes of my time on the range then my on course lesson plan for the day, then I am off to baseball. If they are really interested, I will help them on the weekend.Course management is the way to go. If you can get kids to visualize where they can miss and where they can't you are way ahead of the game.I give them trouble shots to handle. Sometimes it is just greenside bunker challenge on about 6 holes and downhill chips on 3 holes. They are all basically pull out the driver every hole but par 3's so I make them take it and the fairway woods out of the bag some days and play with irons and a hybrid.. Amazing , how much better and smarter they become when forced.

Great advice. There is a reason Jack once told Greg " Good luck and good grip pressure" ( or so I read once)

Moving Contact Lower on Driver Face
jmurder replied to johnclayton1982's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I had a buddy that bought a TM driver that was supposed to be 8.5 and was 11.5, so getting it checked is a really good idea. -
RaCs... Hey man, Do not be fooled by the words game improvement. There is no club out there that will reduce your handicap. Having clubs that are fit for you ( mine are) will help you some. If I have learned anything at all about golf..... It is these two axioms..... You can't buy a golf game ( kind of like love or happiness).... and .. It is always the Indian and NOT the arrow. Buy a set of clubs you like and play with them until the grooves are flat.

I like the way club ho thinks, lol. I have to say that my favorite all timers are Arnie, Lee, and Jack in that order.

I hooked a 5 wood off the tee on a 375 yd dog leg left. I ended up in a ditch with the ball above my feet and a tree limb about 15 feet in front of me from about 140. I had to carry a a small pond, but had some room in front of the green. I hooded an eight iron down and took a 3/4 swing. The shot came out perfectly hit the front of the green and rolled about 10 feet past the pin. I missed the putt, but didn't care. The round was not going well up to that point. Played pretty decent the rest of the way and finished 4 over.

Wow, a lot of arguing about two guys that play a game that none of know a thing about. Who cares who talks to the press and others? This is still America ( last I checked) and you have the right to talk to the press or public if you wish or not. I still cannot fathom the public's demand for autographs and such. You have the right to sign them or not to sign them. A player's choice is exactly that. I personally watch golf more intently when Tiger and Phil are in the hunt, they are just that good. I do not know any of them personally, but those are my two favorites to watch.

Offset clubs also force more people to address the ball with the hands slightly forward and should (in theory) have the hands lead the clubhead through impact which is one of the key components of a good swing.
