I post all complete rounds, every blown out, wet, aerated greens, overseeded, etc. round. The point is to have a higher index so it's easier to post lower scores. Casual round just with friends and I'm in a divot and they're telling me "ahh, just move it." I'm playing it right from that crappy lie. Why, I'm want my index as high as I can get it within the rules of golf.

Taking a "few" lessons is not really committing to be a better golfer. It's a step in the right direction, but you probably need to commit to a single coach for 10 lessons or more. The problem is that golfers make changes from coaching, then gradually move away from those because they don't get consistent feedback. At your level, you need to get a lot of feedback until you get a better self-awareness of your swing.

I'd have cut him a break, he doesn't sound like the sharpest tool. But, I would decline to play with him again. Not because of him cheating, just because it didn't sound like he was much fun to play with and since he doesn't have much money, it isn't enjoyable to take his cash.

74 116 ft of made putts! it wasn't a fairway and greens day.
-
Because wedges are so lofted, you really don't see much slice, but you can be hitting it from outside - in, adding loft to the club, and reducing distance significantly. Try working on hitting a draw with your wedges, really emphasizing an inside approach to the ball. You may find yourself making clean contact and your distance returning.

Anyone buy Phil Mickelson's shortgame dvds?
JonnyGolf replied to tazrestling27's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I just don't know about Phil's short game lessons, it's like taking slam dunk lessons from Michael Jordan. All really interesting, but really don't have what it takes to pull it off. -
You've played since HS and you're a 16+ index? And you don't think lessons would help? I'd shoot myself if I'd been playing since HS and didn't have a plus hdcp.
-
ding ding ding, we have a winner!
-
So, you dropped your hdcp by 25%, but you don't think lessons are needed. Hmmm.
-
Stop coming over the top and de-lofting it.

I have a good idea for Titleist, how do I present it?
JonnyGolf replied to Three Putt's topic in Golf Talk
This is correct. But, there's a 99% likelihood they've already thought/discussed/rejected your idea or already planning to bring it to market. Most businesses don't accept unsolicited ideas because of this issue. They don't want to risk lawsuits on products they were already planning to bring to market. -
I've got two of them, both bought out of the "bargain barrel". But, I love them. Hope Nickent is OK.
-
Every golf product has already been invented and patented. OK, well, maybe not all, but there isn't much left. Some of the patents from the early 1900s are a crack-up.
-
26 putts when I shot a 74. I used to regularly have 12 or less for 9 holes when I was a 15 hdcp because I had to chip on almost every hole and I got pretty good at chipping!

You know, I'd take them all pretty close together. Maybe within 3 weeks, because here's what happens: You take lesson and learn stuff You start practicing on your own and unlearn stuff You go back to pro and relearn stuff You start practicing on your own and unlearn stuff ad infinitum... Without a coach there helping you (unless you really understand you swing and you have video), you will regress back to doing stuff that helps you hit the ball, but doesn't necessarily help improve your swing. So, get all the lessons close together so hopefully you make a swing change. And, 5 lessons can make a HUGE difference to a 30 hdpcr. An unbelievable difference in your game. 5 lessons for a 10hdcpr isn't going to have nearly the same impact. Finally, times are tough. Tell the pro how much money you have to spend and see if he can cut you a break on the price. And, shop around. Once again, almost any pro can significantly improve someone at your level.

I'd never hit any wedge 100% unless it was downwind in a 2 club wind. Wedges are made for accuracy, not power.
-
At 18, it doesn't matter that much. But, when you're making swings expecting to get inside of 10ft, you want the ball to perform. For me, the Pro V1x performs in both distance and drop and stop. And they get dinged up every time that Vokey Spin Milled gets its grooves on it. But, they're worth it. And, I've played every ball including Bridgestone, Callaway, and Nike. I've also played the Pinnacle Exception, which is my choice for low cost balls.

I totally agree with the below. So, think about more rotation and less sliding, but you already do a great job posting up back over your left leg.

A protein shake helps recovery by 3-5%. Steroids decrease recovery time by 80%.

there's a saying that goes: "Players hit it right to left to get to the tour, and they hit it left to right to right stay on the tour." Most players would do anything to avoid a hook. Unlike slices, they have way more power and get in way more trouble. And, the fades help them to land soft and stay in the fairway instead of landing and running like a draw.
-
Who? I've never heard of him.
-
Here's my thought - the only reason the Pro V1 is new this season is because they lost the patent lawsuit to Callaway. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/22265029/ I'm not sure why the new ball would be "better" if they had to change their mfg process to comply with the judgement. As a note, I just bought "old" Pro V1x for $34.99.

I've got 40 in on a short par 4 at a local exec course. Right behind the green is a steel maintenance building with the doors open. I blade the 60 degree, it goes in the open doors an richochets around against the steel walls. I just walked to the next hole.
