  1. If I'm playing with my usual partner I hide behind him because he is considerably bigger than me.
  2. Yea, I agree. Its a shame to see her go, but to miss the putt she missed I guess she deserved it. Over the course of the not so great show, I've become a fan of Christina, however, I'm wondering if she has eaten anything since it started. She looked really, really thin on the last show. Too thin.
  3. I didn't really like her before, but I think Christina new found passionate play is a slight hint of refreshing for the show. In the beginning my picks were Anya and Selanee, but I think Christina is working her way into my favorites.
  4. I've only seen this done at one course in near L.A. It was a very slow course that I've played maybe 5 times at an average of 5.5hrs. Having been through this process 5 times, I do not see how this helps anything. If the object is to get through the par 3 hole as quick as possible, then maybe, but what you save on that hole you wait on the next. I do think that this is a fast way to let a group(or single) play through, but I don't see how it helps if the group behind is going to stay behind.
  5. I guess I'll be the first one. I'd like to carry an extra club. I carry 14 now, but I'd love to have an extra. Yes I know I can choke down to fill the gap, but I often find myself wishing I could use the rescue club that I had to leave in the garage.
  6. I was thinking about this yesterday as I played. I have a good divot repair tool that also holds my ball marker. But, I thought about all the times I stood there in the pro shop looking at a mediocre divot repair tool that they were selling for $15. For their own good they should offer these free along with posting the correct way to use them.
  7. I normally play courses I have not played before. I use Golflogix on my Iphone 3. I believe it provides great information that I would otherwise not have. If I had a "home" course, I wouldn't use it nearly as much. I find at some courses that from the tee box I wouldn't even know which way the hole bends without the gps diagrams as many scorecards don't show diagrams. I'm positive is shaves many swings off my scorecard, however it doesn't matter because I guess I'm cheating using it on the phone. All my scores are invalid.
  8. Thanks for that info, but as you can see above that we are no longer going to go to Seascape.
  9. Thanks for the info, but we've settled on Spring Valley. It's a bit closer to us.
  10. LOL!
  11. Yes the views were amazing and the layout is like no other that I've played before. I lost 6 balls. Now that I've been around the course, I would probably lose less next time, maybe. I was able to drive the green on 10 and 11 (playing white), which is always fun. Have any of you played Seascape in Aptos? Thanks again for all the recommendations.
  12. I played The Ranch today and all I can say is WOW! It is beautifully maintained. The elevation changes were out of the norm and amazing to this Florida native. The greens were tricky but in great shape and fast. As Pham reported it is a difficult course: very tight. There were only a few hole to hit driver. Loads of fun and beautiful. I will look at the other recs as I hope to play Thursday as well.

I use golf logix on an Ipnone 3 and I can get through 36 holes before battery has an issue. The key is to use the button on top of the phone to turn it off between shots.
  14. Christina made some really good putts this week that saved her butt. She looks are perplexing to me. She is really cute during her interviews, but she looks really strange to me while on the course. I agree that the golf is really really bad this season.
  15. Thanks you guys. I'm going to play The Ranch tomorrow and we will see about Thursday.
  16. Hello all, I'll be in the south San Jose area for the next few days. I'm looking for a good course recommendation. As always for me money is an object so I'd like to keep it under $80. Thanks.
  17. Hello all, I'm just trying to wrap my mind around the physics of how a shaft can change the amount of backspin. While we are at it, also, given a clubhead, loft and lie, how can a shaft affect trajectory? I know that these variables ARE affected, but I'm curious to know how. Thanks,
  18. Great idea and I have often done stuff like this to bundled packages. In this case the OP would still need to buy woods which would put him out of the price range.
  19. For me its almost exclusively water. If I'm tired during a morning round I'll have a D. Coke for the caffeine. Very occasionally with certain friends I'll have a couple beers.
  20. I'm not in the best shape, but not the worst either. While I'm sure strength, core and otherwise, is a great benefit I'm not sure it plays a major role in the "shanks." As posted above I didn't hit the ball well for 36 holes and the last 9 I hit fantastic. For me I think its a tempo thing and it took me that long to get settled in. I was definitely fatigued when I started hitting well.
  21. I saw on TV someone do this today in the Open. I have to assume that it is OK. I don't remember the exact sequence that he did, but at one point his putter was lying on the green directly behind the ball or mark with the shaft lined up toward the hole or line toward the hole.
  22. As you are aware, the golf swing is a finicky process. I come across the same problem as you - I can be on fire one moment and not so great the next. For me it can happen mid-round. Yesterday I played a bunch, 2.5 rounds. My irons were not working until the last 9 holes. It wasn't that I was hitting them that bad, just slightly lean mostly. Something clicked and my irons were on fire and I shot +3 on the last 9 that I played. I don't know what to do about it, but for me I think it's a tempo thing. Timing gets slightly out of whack. I know it's not much help, but I feel for you. I think there are many out there like us.
  23. I am exactly like this. Once I stopped mis-hitting the ball I began to play more and practice less. Due to the % of shots from close to the green all my practice is on the chipping and putting green. Hell, at this time of year in FL you can play for the price of 2 buckets so play is what I do. I am still improving.
  24. I ended up playing 3 courses in two days in the area. Day 1. 1. South Grove (2rounds back to back) - This was an interesting course. I didn't care for it much however the price was right. It was in good condition, however there were so many trees on the course it made play difficult. There were many instances where while hitting an approach shot from the fairway, the green was almost completely protected by overhanging trees. This forced playing a lot of low punch shots from the fairway. Nearly all holes were straight (no dogleg). Day 2. 2. Saddlebrook - I thought that this was a fantastic municipal course. It was in good shape and I liked the layout. Lots of doglegs which you wouldn't hit driver. There was also a lot of water that made club selection critical. A ton of fun for the money. 3. Eagle Creek (pines) - This course had a special on Golf Now for afternoon play so we decided to play it and I'm sure glad we did. This was a very nice facility, range, chipping and putting greens. This is a Pete Dye course which I was a little concerned with after reading a bunch of stuff here. It definately had its challenges but wasn't overly difficult. I didn't see any areas where if in the fairway that the greens were obstructed. It was tons of fun for us. We played 18 at Saddlebrook and 27 at Eagle for my record for amount of golf in one day: 45 holes! Woo hoo.
  25. 0, because after all the miscellaneous posts I can't figure out which one to rate.
