  2. "How many of you "fluff" your ball or play 6"/winter rules all the time?" I did up until this season as this is the first year that I have kept track of my stats/scores/handicap. In my opinion, giver, go crazy unless you take your game serious in the least at which point it is absurd/cheating. I will just take a wild guess and say that 3 times per round (at least), your ball ends up in an odd/BS spot where if moved a few inches would be a perfect lie. Those 3 times can compound into 5+ strokes on your bottom line score.
  3. I trust Iacas's information over Michael Breed's any day...I just wonder: How does Michael Breed get away with giving info on such a huge forum (GC) when he is a class-A (or whatever) instructor, and highly regarded (for the most part, by what I would guess would be a big percentage of viewers etc)? Wtf
  4. This is on-point...Just delivered in a shorty-style matter of fact (and sort of mean) way. I understand what you mean. I golf regularly with a guy who has much worse 'golf form' than I do. When he beats me (not often), I get down and think the same sort of things you are thinking. But in the end, none of that stuff matters. Grinding for a lower score is the goal, regardless of how graceful your form is or how pretty it looks etc. Also, the people who are telling you that your swing looks better than your friends does...They may just mean that they could see you getting better than your friend if you both had lessons because your swing mechanics look more promising and easy to work with than his etc. Doesn't just mean that they are trying to be nice because you're horrible, lol.
  5. Yeah, I was somewhat on-board with what he was saying regarding not requiring to upgrade clubs every season as the golf industry/marketing would suggest...but I do believe in new grips every season or 2, groove sharpening, new shafts when they need to be replaced, etc. 15 year old grips can't be good, even with the Freddy Couples suggestion of using rough sand paper to keep grips 'grippy' longer.
  6. I find that my Mizuno MP-32 (cut-muscle) blades are far better than my Nike forged blades (the original/first released version). I used to think that blades mostly felt the same, but now I just can't agree with that at all. The MP-32's feel like game improvement cavity backs when compared to the Nike blades...a seriously noticeable difference between the two. Mind you, a scratch (or better) golfer may disagree as they would hit the sweet-spot every single strike of the ball with either set of irons. I believe that the sweet spot seems bigger in the MP-32's per the difference in weight distribution between the two designs (from the research that I did). *True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 Stiff Flex shafts on both sets.*
  7. For some reason, I want John Daly to win this event. I wouldn't mind if Jim or Ernie won, though. Hopefully Mike Weir makes the cut and plays well enough to enjoy himself.
  8. I am all over the map with golf brands: -Titleist bag/driver/wedges -Ping driver (switch between the two) -Mizuno irons -Odyssey putter -Zebra 20 degree fairway wood -Nike/Adidas shoes -Nike gloves -Nike/Titleist/Bridgestone/Callaway/Taylormade balls *whichever good ball I can get for a good deal at the time* With vehicles I swear by Honda. Non golf shoes are generally New Balance or Nike. Guitars are USA made Fender Mac for computer/phone I still don't understand what OP means by 'golf is the only time you can get away with it'. Opposed to what? being called out on it? I just get what I like and what I find to be the most worthwhile to me at the time. But I would sell Honda out if their cars started treating me like Chevy's used to treat me. I would stop buying New Balance if their products started being made with less integrity (like Gibson guitars did, and so many other businesses I am sure people can name). I wouldn't swear by Mizuno irons if I found ones that I felt personally worked better for me, etc. This thread confuses me.
  9. 78 at Hunter's Pointe (Welland, ON). It was my 2nd round this season, and the day before I shot a 90 at Terry Hills (Batavia, NY). Unfortunately, that's how my game is this year...One day I could shoot 90, and the next day low 80's.
  10. Jimbo is most likely never coming back (aside from ghosting). Although, it would be cool if he came back and posted his Trackman session results like he said he would. The issue is that he knows 80% of the people here will be the "I told you so" guy lol. Ah well, after a certain amount of time we should let Darkman officially hijack the thread and we can ask for his Trackman proof. lol
  11. $250.00 Hockey Stick... Ugh.
  12. - SKOAL Citrus - Advil - Medical Tape - Water - Extra glove / Rain Jacket / Sweat towel / Rain Grip Gloves + More
  13. - Starting the round with a bogie/double/triple - Paired up with a NASCAR fan (That's what I call loud-mouth golfers who wear jeans/t-shirts and have no clue about golf rules/etiquette) - Forgetting something at home that you were stoked that you had ready to bring with you (snacks/beverage/towel/sleeve of balls/new golf glove/etc)
  14. Consider something lost in translation, bro. Your mechanics can not possibly allow for those balls to be ending up 300 yards IMHO. Swing looks more aggressive than the last ones I saw, though. I don't doubt that you are hitting 240 on average
  15. I have an average club head speed of 101 with my driver..I carry roughly 230-250 on my best/longest hits. I think that the yardage signs at his driving range are fooling him into honestly thinking that he hits it further than he actually does. (common/honest mistake)
  16. I agree with most of the original post... I think? Some rounds I went home wondering how I managed to shoot an 82 after playing what felt like a round full of terrible shots and mistakes (more so than normal for me and my current handicap index). On the other hand, I have had rounds where I shot an 87 or an 89 and felt that I played well but couldn't score , or that it didn't reflect on the card etc. I agree with having to count all of your strokes, and it's funny that you mentioned not wanting to hurt a club so you move it from a tree-root etc. I actually had to get a new shaft on my pitching wedge last season after hitting a shot where there was a tree to my front left. I tried holding off no the follow through, but wrapped my club around the tree. I stuck the shot to within 4 or 5 feet, but missed the putt and walked away with par on a round that ended up being like a 93 or something God awful. Count all of your strokes, folks.
  17. Sorry Jimbo; other than not believing that you have or can drive 300 yards with any swing, that part of my post was directed to Shorty and not to you.
  18. Given this post, along with your thread about your Theory on the golf game made earlier...I assume that you either: -Finally got beat up for being a wise-ass arrogant dick to someone -Got laid -Are under the influence of E/K/Coke/Alcohol Either way, it's about time. Congratulations.
  19. He has posted multiple swing videos in the my swing section. Based on those videos alone, anyone who believes that he could even roll a ball 300 down wind is out of their mind.
  20. 76-90% (I've improved quite a bit) Good thread
  21. Make sure you have enough bend in your knees. I ran into the same problem on the first day golfing after a winter break a couple of seasons ago. Couldn't hit a ball, and everything was hitting the hosel. Finally after a few holes I realized that I had hardly any bend in my knees. I made the adjustment and that problem went away immediately.
  22. Why is it unbelievable I can drive 300+? Short answer = Because 8.5/10 people who say that they can, are actually closer to 265 (being generous). Otherwise, I have seen 18+ handicapper's hit 300 yard drives. My brother in law kicks his leg like a baseball swing...9/10 of his drives are OB, topped, sky'd, etc. But the rare ball that he catches that stays in play , goes literally 280-310 yards. It's quite upsetting to see really lol...until his next shot that he chunks 10 yards and jams his wrists, etc. But seriously, no-one really cares. Unless you prove it, arguing on a forum where tons of people make the same claim and get the same replies is useless and good bait for some beauty feedback/comments. OP has the tr0ll skillz in check
