  1. My "pet peeve" is SPITTERS!!! The guy who just "juiced up" my line while I am trying to line up my first putt.
  2. Freddie for sure... We are about the same size, we both have a strong (cupped) left hand, and we both hit it a mile! I just wish I had his short game... I'm working on it....
  3. Interlock... I have short fingers...
  4. I'm with this guy? gal? NICE avatar... Whew.... where was I..... Oh ya... I use my great big Black and White Titleist towel... "as little as possible"...... Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Boy!!!!!

    battle royale

Well you’re wrong too... I also picked Byron and here's why: Tiger just doesn't know when to back off, sometimes you HAVE to lay up! Jack made his living being longer (and wilder) than everybody else and escaping from the ruff, you can't be THAT lucky all the time. Ben was a GREAT mind, and mechanical man (and is MY personal hero) but, lets face it, he just couldn't putt. Sam was the smoothest, but I think his short game was a tad suspect. Bobby was the greatest in a time when not may people had ANY kind of skills, I think the modern game would neutralize Bobby's advantage. Arnold is Arnold. Swash buckling and always "went for it" ala Tin Cup. Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug! But Byron... There are only two players that ever hit the ball straight (as their "default" ball flight)... Johnny Miller and Byron Nelson. Byron was so straight, he could play golf on a balance beam!!! What a man...
  6. in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Lee Trevino always said "It ain't the arrow... It's the Indian", but I think I have to disagree and say it is both... I remember 15 years ago when Payne Stewart (bless his soul) was on top of his game. He played with Wilson Staff blades. He was very successful, and won a bunch of tournaments. His contract with Wilson Sporting Goods had expired. Payne went "for the money" and switched companies. Of course, the new company (I believe it was Spaulding) made Payne (under contract) play with their (Spaulding) clubs (some new game improvement model that Spaulding wanted Payne to promote via using them on tour). Payne’s game plummeted!!! He disappeared from the leader boards, his game was in shambles. Why?? because Payne was not using his trusted Wilson blades anymore. The feel and control he once had were gone. Finally, Payne talked Spaulding into making him a custom set of clubs (which looked and felt remarkably like his old Wilson Staffs). Payne was never really the same until he got out from under the Spaulding contract, and moved on to another manufacturer. The exact same thing happened to Curtis Strange when he left Macgregor (I loved those old VIP’s). It may not be as severe with the pro as it is with the rest of us, but BOTH the arrow and the Indian must be in tune with each other. IMHO
  8. I went to Pitt, so I am NOT a fan of Penn State in any way shape or form. That being said, I feel bad for Joe Pa, it would have been a glorious way to end his career by going undefeated, and go to the BIG dance...
  9. I like womans pro beach volleyball!!!!!! Guess why!??!?!?
  10. East Allegheny High School - Wildcats - Class of 1974 North Versailles, PA
  11. I really like the Cleveland hybrids. There is NOT that goofy offset, and they setup nice. The steel shafts are all you need, they are cheap (relatively speaking). They work for me!
  12. I heard DL3's interview after his win, and he talked about how his Vokey wedge got him out of trouble and able to save par and the win. He also said that "Bob Vokey wasn't doing so well"... I searched the internet, and cannot find anything concerning a Bob Vokey health condition?... Anybody hear anything out there?
  13. You can extend your SW and LW... BUT... the swing weight will increase A LOT! Your wedges have a 2 or 3 swing weight increase over the rest of your set to begin with (swinging at maybe D5 or D6)... if you add an inch, you will increase another 3 swing weights (swinging at maybe D8 or D9). That is a LOT of weight to try and swing at full speed. It may be ok on chip shots and 1/2 pitches, but when you try and take a full (100 yard) swing, you may dislocate both your arms!
  14. Just like the commercial used to say... "How do you break in a pair of FootJoys... Just take them out of the box"... I have a really short wide foot (8 XW), and I know I can order a pair of FootJoys off the internet, and they will fit, right out of the box!
  15. I too like the look of lead tape on my clubs... IMHO it means you are a player! Moving the tape around the entire perimeter of your drive will really help you learn a lot about club dynamics. The closer you move the tape to the heel, the fast the toe will close, and create your draw. Vise versa, the closer the tape is to the toe, the slower the toe will close causing a fade. I once heard the ice skater analogy. When the skater spins with her arms out stretched, she spins slower, when she pulls her arms in (closer to her center spin axis) she spins fast. It's the same (kinda) things with the lead tape and the shaft (the center of spin axis)... Good luck, and have fun with it. and wash your hands afterwards.
  16. NOT NOT NOT...................... Let's just leave it at that.....
  17. My only thought on short putts... "If your gonna hit the ball that hard... Don't give the hole away!"
  18. I say Paddy..... To win the "race" you have to finish the "race"...
  19. My wife’s grand father died on the golf course. He had a heart attack months earlier, and was under some kind of new treatment (this was in the early 70's). His recovery was nothing short of a miracle. His doctor(s) told him he was completely cured, and they were going to write papers for the medical journals about his case. He was on the golf course (and this is NO LIE) with a doctor and a priest. On the third hole he mentioned that he felt kind of "funny", and on the fourth tee he dropped over dead! There is a golf joke in there somewhere...
  20. I never hit anybody, but a buddy of mine hit a line drive with a 3 wood which was heading for a big pine tree on the corner of the adjacent fairway. Just as he hit his shot, a guy came walking around the tree (looking for his ball I guess). We were all shocked that this screamer was heading right at him, and instinctively we ALL yelled "LOOK OUT", and instinctively, HE LOOKED UP AT US, that's when the ball hit him SQUARE IN THE TEETH!!! His glasses went down, his hands went up to his mouth, and blood went everywhere! His buddies ran up, stuck a towel in his face, threw him in a golf cart, and they were GONE!!!!! This happened 15 years ago... shook us all pretty bad... Never saw the guy before, and never saw him again... Hope he is OK...
  21. I look at the front of the ball all the time...
  22. Yup... Have to. My league plays by the USGA rules of golf, and there is not a round that goes by that someone needs to know how many strokes to penalize someone for an infraction. I know it sounds petty, but we have PLUS and scratch players in our league, along with 130 some "other" players, and we have to play by ALL the rules!
  23. Dude.... that's COLD I'm surprised the monitors of this site let you get away with your little (F) thing.... REAL NICE...........................
  24. "They" don't call it global warming anymore! They call it "global climate change"... I guess they got tired of being made FUN of!!!!!
  25. I had this happen to me... kinda. It was my mother that died, in her sleep, and my wife came out to the course to tell me (because my cell phone was turned off!) I elected to finish the round. Partly because my mother was already gone, and the fact that my parents live(d) in PA, and I was in Ohio, and mostly because I was on the 17th fairway when my wife caught up with me! It's a judgement call, some people are not as "close" as others... Beside, IT'S JUST A JOKE PEOPLE!!!!!!
