I have several mallett putters,I currently use the SG9 which is more a semi mallett.I have a Scotty Red X and a Ray Cook M-1.Malletts are nice but it takes a while to controll speed comming from a blade.I just treated myself to a Wilso new 8882 blade that will hit the market 2/1/10 and hopefully GPP will get it to me before my San Diego reunion with the old Marine buddies.

I am being somewhat flippant but you can not begin to compare the PGA tour with any other pro sport.ALL the major pro sports have contracts with unions representing the players who realize for the good of the game independent contractors do not work. Now that Tiger is away when they renegotatiate the TV package do ypu think it will increase? If they banded as a union they could guarentee so many top 10 for certain events and therefore get more fee rights from sponcers.Charlie Finley once said if you want to keep the union in kine make every ball player a free agent after every season.I think the man was a genius and well ahead of his time.Neither the union nor the ballclubs had the balls to try it.If the tour does not prop up the smaller events with name players there has to be attrition on the tour and 125 will be 60 or 70.Then what good is being independent to numbers 61-125?

I have been playing Cally graphite irons for a long time and usually there is a plastic sticker on the 8 iron near the club head and shaft meet.
-
I keep hearing that each player is a "Independent contractor".If this is so then why have a PGA or USGA or R&A; at all?Lets everyone meet at bethpage Black 2 weeks from Thursday and we will play for lets say 6 million?Oh by the way we each have to put up 500,000 so we can have a good purse and rent the course.See we are independent contractors and do not have to answer to anyone.Yeah good luck keeping that going.

How about the money raised for chairity by the event? If all they have is bottom feeders showing up for a specific event then who the hell will buy the tickets?Might as well cut the schedule down to say 15 events per year? That would be the death of pro golf.Out of sight out of mind.

I hear the Old Crosby tourny is in trouble in 2 weeks because of alll the money being offered in Qater and ABU DHABI the next few weeeks.Should the tour in these economic times force certain players to stay here and play?Kim,Perry and several others have allready said they will play over sea's the next few weeks for good appearence money. What do you think?

Hey under parr do not let anyone one harrass you.My wife and I have our place in Myrtle all picked out and purchased and are allmost ready to retire to a golfing destiny.I plan on being turned loose every morning with 5 clubs and 3 balls and hopefully the wife willl be able to find me at night. If not who the hell cares?I will be wacking away at 2 in the morning.

My wife and I have played several US Open courses together from Torrey to Pinhurst to the Black and she keeps up with her wheelie on the Black and even broke 100 {95} on Torrey South so she is as addicted as I am.

Let me ask a dumb question,If I play Pebble can I walk and carry my own sticks?
-
Heathland Moorland and parkland are all good solid above average courses. If you are doing a deal with them make sure you get a round at Heritage a MUST PLAY.The back 9 at heritage maybe the toughest 9 holes in all of Myrtle and the greens you could die for.

I just ordered a new Wilson 8882 blade which looks just about like the original 8802 and for 99.00 bucks I needed a birthday present for myself. Now as long as it gets here before I leave for Tampa.
-
Do not get me wrong allmost all the courses are in excellent shape in Myrtle. Is just that for me it is 715 miles to my land at Wild Wing and when I go that far to play golf I want to play all the 4 star or better courses.Possum Trot even waterway hills or the Grand daddy are all nice courses but in the area and price range you can and should do better.

never played it but Rock Bottom is blowing them out CHEAP

Tiger...not the first golfer with problems...give it a break..
flap replied to juanrjackson's topic in Tour Talk
Well considering he has not filed a suit against any of them for besmirching his so callled good name it don't look to good.As far as Phill with his gambling as long as he did it legally it is none of our bussiness.Tiger on the other hand may have broken the law with hush money that was not reported to the IRS which is a crime. -

Let me get this right he had 10-13 different hookers/affairs because his wife is a nut?Thas cool I got to try that on my Mrs.well maybe not she is a 18 hcp and she will not whiff with her 4 iron. -
I have been using the Epoch no friction tees for the last 2 seasons and have lost more than I have broken.I use 2 kinds the 31/8 and 23/4 inch and keep them in separate colors.

No matter how much they tried "All the Kings horses and all the Kings men couldn't put Ol Humpy back together again"By showing the good old days they are hurting golf more than helping. It is obvious that he aint comming back right away so why not show Phill or patty or Ernie who ie playing well,These are the guys who will be selling the sport for quite a while.I would be willing to bet Tiger aint comming back till the divorce papers are signed sealed and delivered. If he does old Stevie boy better start taking up Kung Fu cause Tiger will hear it from the fans.

Wild Wing was torn apart only left with 27 holes 4 years ago and the practice range now sucks.Wachesaw Litchfeild--River Club Long bay--are all B courses as far as the locals are concerned.Chucks is the best Steak house on the strand.I can not see why you would not like Fazio course as it is a shot makers dream.Only 2 courses at legends are links the Parkland is a old time through the woods type course.
-
I have never been a big fan of Kings North as I think for the same money you can play The Dunes or one of the Barefoots {my favorite is the Fazio}.But a lot of people swear by the MBN courses so go figure. It has been real rainy there the last few weeks so beware of the Witch even though it is a great course it is the worst draining course in all of Myrtle and will be CPO till July {just joking} but it will be wet.
-
You are going in January so bring some warm clothes as it will be cold in the morning.Caledonia and Tru Blue are both great but VERY expensive unles you book through your hotel.Try Heritage or go up North a little and you have Tigers Eye or Rivers Edge Thistle or if you are really on a budget mid January the Sun News Online has cupons for most of the courses in the Myrtle area.Usually by the end of January they are boosting the prices so call ahead and ask.Stay away from the courses in Myrtle itself such as Waterway and Possum trot as these allthough nice are not why you drove from Ohio.Just over the border in NC has a load of nice courses Oyster Bay The pearls Crow Creek Carolina national.Pick up the Fodors places to play book and play 4 stars or better.

New TaylorMade 5-piece golf ball Penta TP
flap replied to SpringBokVol's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Been all over the Ed Watts site and they do not offer the ball online yet. They are saying they will stock and take orders for the new Callaway balls starting 1/15 but nothing on the Penta.I will be in Florida in Feb.so hopefully I will find them live in a Watts store. -
In case no one is watching it looks like all the young studs like long courses and us old goats like 63-65 hundred yard courses. My rule of thumb is if I can not reach the par 4's with a iron then I am playing from the wrong tee box.
-
If you don't mind telling where did you find the Penta"s? All the web places keep saying not till 2/01/10
