I joined the Sand Trap leaderboard.

No, I don't laser distances on pitch and chip shots, I tend to walk them off.
-
To add to what Erik said, I am not sure I would attach the H4 to the rangefinder even if I had it. There are many times I use the H4 when I have no use for the laser, like around the green and putting. The device is just fine sitting on my belt where I can get to it whenever I need it. Attaching it to a laser seems extraneous.

I sent an email, for the time being I left the drive as a positional shot and just left the tag where I dropped from. In the end it's not going to make a lot of difference in my stats.
-
Anyone have an idea about how to proceed with a free drop? There is a large area of GUR at my course. I hit it in there and had to take a drop approx 30 yards back in the fairway. If I tag from the new spot it takes 30 yards from the drive, if I tag from where it actually was, it takes 30 yards from the approach. There is a drop option, but it adds penalty strokes.

I so glad you brought this up I had wondered about that. I had to go back and edit all my rounds. Changed some of my stats. Good to know I have not been doing this and I have had to correct it during the editing process. Thats what i've been doing lately, pulling it off my belt to check the GPS and then just tagging it at the same time. It's actually a lot easier that trying to tag it on my belt IMHO

We play a format like this all the time. It's a four-man two best ball. Basically, you have four man teams and the two lowest scores count as the team score. I'm headed up for my golf trip here in a couple weeks and we do an ABCD version of this for the 4 rounds we play. The one thing we change is we count all birdies, so if three guys on the team make birdie the team score is -3.

I played 9 holes yesterday and I had some of the same issues that @boogielicious had. I tagged all the pins, but three of the tags were quite a bit off from where I had tagged them. On those holes I had tagged the pin as I was walking by after everyone had finished putting. I wonder if it needs you to pause for a second or two as you are tagging? I also had a few missed tags that I had to add in after the round that I am sure I tried to tag. All in all I still really like the device, and I am starting to get some good data. With summer right around the corner I will start playing a lot more and I am looking forward to using it to help me improve. Question...does anyone know if you have to upload the round after each time you play, or can you play a couple rounds and then upload them? I didn't see anything in the owners manual, but I could have missed it. Would be good to know as I will get in 36 quite a bit in the next couple months.

I have the same thing, a 50 gram counterweight. I considered glueing the tag to the putter, but I found having it as my marker was really easy. I just put my ball down, picked up the marker, and and tagged it. Not to mention I do have two putters I rotate into my bag from time to time, and it would be a pain to keep pulling off the tag. I also always use the same ball maker and divot tool every round so it will be easy to keep track of the tag.

The putter tag will not go on my putter because I use Super Stroke putter grips. The putter tags with adhesive backs are $30 on the Shot Scope website which seems a bit pricey. Because of this, I decided to cut the screw part off the putter tag I got with my device and glue use it as a ball marker when I played today. It actually worked really well so I am thinking about glueing it to a bigger, heavier, harder to lose ball marker and then just tagging with it instead of my putter. I could feel the vibration in my hands as I touched the tag to the unit. I did not feel it vibrating on my belt at all.

Very true, it’s much easier on my Mac than my phone I also worry about scratching the face of the unit. Tagging 60 plus times a round could become a problem. I found a liquid screen protector made for watches and I’m going to try to put that on the face to protect it. Anyone else see this as potentially being an issue?

I tagged my clubs using my phone.

Good point, I just messed around with it yesterday, I haven't played a round with it yet. I guess I am just going to have to get used to having it on my belt. I suppose I could leave the clip on my belt and transfer it back on forth at the green, but I'm afraid thats going to get old in a hurry.

That much money buys you a quite a bit of "Who give a shit." I watched his video on PGA MEMES showing off his house in Florida. I've always liked Norman, I imagine he's an ass in real life, but that's often the case with people that driven.

I attached mine to a metal plate I installed on my push cart. When I used it like that yesterday and it worked very well. I really don't want to wear it on my belt. Don't know what I am going to do when I have to take a cart.

So I came across and ordered the H4 yesterday because I was looking for something to use to track shots now that GG is a continued nightmare. I didn't want the continued expense of a subscription service like Arccos, but I would really like to get back to the kinds of stats I had with GG. Mine should be here tomorrow, I look forward to seeing how our experiences match up.

I played both Pinehurst no. 8 and Pinehurst no. 2 in 2018 and I guarantee I went # 1 on a tree at least one time during my rounds. I am happy to say it didn't seem to bother anyone and I remain unincarcerated to this day. Like I said, if everything bothers you the problem is you.

Your wife's ex-husband sounds like the jackasses we constantly have to watch for at my course. It get's annoying having to police these idiots all afternoon or they'll jump on the course without paying. Just pay the greens fee you asshat.

There needs to be a healthy level of respect for those around you, but you also have to realize that other people on the course have the right to have fun in their own way as well. I hate music on the course, but I fear its here to stay so I try to not let it bother me, but I have asked people that blare it to turn it down a bit. Everyone I have asked has done so without protest. People getting mad and throwing tantrums doesn't really bother me, I actually find it funny. As far as unsolicited advice, I don't get it very often, but the few times I have I just politely asked them to keep their advice to themselves. I think people underestimate to power of simply asking people to chill out. Be nice just tell them. "Hey that bothers me." At the same time if everything bothers you the problem is YOU not them. As far as your problem with peeing on trees, well that's just ridiculous, when you gotta go you gotta go. Too many old men out there with enlarged prostates!

I've played both courses at OCN and they are really good. I would highly recommend them, they are a lot of fun. They regularly host the PGA Tour (now Korn Ferry) Q-School. In fact the last time I played there it was right after Q-School and the place was immaculate. I played Champions Gate when I was in Orlando last time. It was very average, especially for they price. I equate it to muni golf at resort prices. I was not in great shape and the layout was forgettable at best.
-
I cannot comment on the conditions as I have not played there in a few years, but its a course I have played 4 or 5 times. I keep returning there when I visit Orlando because it's a fun course, they always have availability, and it's reasonably priced. It's always been in decent shape as well. I really enjoy it, there is a lot of water in play, but it's not terribly difficult.
-
It's a bad look, especially if you, your wife, and his father have the means to just pay the greens fee. If money is an issue, and from what you say it doesn't seem to be, he could go get a job at the course and get playing privileges. I've worked at golf course for 20+ years for that exact reason. It's stealing, it's not right, he shouldn't be doing it.

Wear that white belt with pride!!!!! In all my years I have only had one person make a snide comment about my white belt. I just replied, "Have you ever been outdriven 50 yards by someone wearing a white belt? Well then make sure you're paying attention today." -
Interesting, there is a very similar situation that I know of here where people used to cut a dog leg by aiming over houses. The course eliminated that issue by erecting a net down the entire left side of the tee box. I don't think in the situation here it came to need litigation.
