  1. Have you really been only playing a couple of weeks as was able to shoot 80's?? If so then thats damn good!
  2. Does she have a sister or a friend who likes to golf as much as she does?
  3. Best way to play a tournament.. Just treat it like a regular round of golf.. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. I always set my goal to just shoot my handicap and things always work themselves out.. When your goal is to shot lower than our handicap you'll put too much pressure on yourself and your swing will just go to $ht! Good luck though.. I love playing in tournaments..
  4. Lol I make practice swings as well when I'm out and about with my wife.. She just laughs at me and thinks I'm weird.. To op.. I gave up the playing basketball, flag football and video games.. I use to be super addicted to video games and my wife would get pissed at me and would tell me to get out of the house and do something. Got Addicted to golf and now she wants me home more playing video games.. Funny how that works.. I guess I have this addictive personality and she hates how I just can't do it in moderation.. Go hard or go home though right!
  5. I took my driver out earlier this yeah when I noticed I always struggled on holes I dont drive well.. My handicap went from 19 down to 14 just because of that.. I hit my 3W pretty consistent and it keeps me out of trouble and i'm hitting fairways a lot more.. Golf is a lot easier in the short grass.. I do want to start hitting my driver again. So I can at least try and attack par 5s or those long par 4s.. I think next year I will get lessons solely on my driver swing..
  6. Played in my very first 2 day tournament this past weekend. I'm a 14 HC but they had me at 17 since they based everybodies HC from the blacks.. I shot great during the 1st day! Had 4 birdies but still ended up shooting an 85.. Had some doubles and triples that really ruined the score.. But i was still in good position to get in the money being -4 from my HC.. Then 2nd day I was doing fine til #8 came.. It was Par 3 about 157 yards.. Water in front and water on the left.. Needed at least 140 to carry the green.. Decided to go with a chocked down 7 with a nice and easy swing.. First shot pulled it to the right and splash! 2nd ball at the drop zone was 108... Short with my PW! 3rd ball again short with my PW! Moved up to about 57 yards and 4th ball short with my SW! finally 5th ball was able to get on the green and 2 putt for an 11! Tin cup moment! lol.. Ended up shooting a 97! Kinda recovered during the back 9 but also had trouble with another par 3 that had hazards.. Had to take 2 balls off the tee again! Sigh... Ended up +5 strokes from finishing in the money! Oh well still had a great time though.... Its just a game right?
  7. I think you're over thinking things.. If you end up not becoming friends because of golf then ya'll were never that good of friends to begin with.. Just take it as a normal round of golf with your buddy.. It sounds like you really dont talk much during the round when its competition.. I would do the talking before hand and just do your thing after you tee off...
  8. I have a lot golf buddies and seems like golfers in general who are so eager to get that ace. Don't get me wrong and 1 is nice to see in that score card but what's the point when you fail to break 100! I remember getting my first eagle how happy and excited I was to put that 3 on my scorecard but then I look at first hole(eagle was on the 2nd hole) and I saw my double bogey! So pretty much I started par par! Then my very next hole I get a triple! I would've rather had started par par par than getting that eagle! So which would you guys rather do first if you haven't already done it. Or if you have done it which would you have rather than first..
  9. Standard 3 wood are 15*.. if your 3 wood is like a 13* then I would probably looking into getting a 15* one..
  10. Yes they do.. I'm not familiar with any GC here in my area that doesn't allow you to walk in the weekends.. I'm guessing you get that on some of the courses you play at?
  11. Nope! 19*= 3 iron 22*= 4 iron.. the only thing your missing is a putter and a driver! ;)
  12. Guess you're the only one that feels that way! Thanks for the input! I figures that was the case with carts not being in the green.. I saw it a few times playing with some other guys and saw that they did that..
  13. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this? I'm kinda tight with budget and try to save money as much as I can. Most courses I play at charge a cart fee of $14 to ride a cart for 18 holes. Doesn't seem much but as much as I like to golf that $14 can go towards green fees! I'm playing with 3 other guys tomorrow who more than likely will ride but I would really like to just walk.. I'm a pretty fast walker and have a push cart. I have other friends who get kinda annoyed when i walk.. They think i'm holding them back because I'm walking. Whats funny is this friend is like a 25+ handicap and is always looking for his ball in the woods and water! Oh kinda a 2 part question/thread. Is it ok for me to put my push cart on the green? I usually don't but i've seen this a couple of times with some people that I get paired up with who roll their push carts on the green or through it.. I always just go around it but there are times its convenient to go through the green with my push cart..
  14. I'm a 15 handicap and when I started golfing a year ago I would just use the golf balls that I found on the course never thinking it won't really make any difference with my game.. I became really curious a out seeing if playing brands new balls would make a difference in my game but just couldn't get myself to spend $20 on a decent ball.. I'm a golfer on a budget and would rather play golf than buy new balls.. I was still using lost balls until about a month ago when I found a the tommy armour 3 piece evo balls that were on sale at sports authority,$10 for 15 balls.. I was like what the heck! $10 isn't bad plus I had a gift card there so I might as well try it.. Well after playing around with them I don't think I'll ever play any other balls other than Tommie's as of right now.. The ball goes straight and bites with the best of them.. I've used pro v1/v1x, bridgestones, nikes and callaway and can tell you this is the balls I hit best. The ball is a great price as well! $10 for 15 of them so it won't hurt to try them!
  15. I just like to keep my clubs in at least good condition.. I know I can't prevent them from not being scratched but I don't want to end up ruining them by hitting out of rocks...
  16. Just wondering if any of y'all keep a beater club in your bag?? You know a club that you really won't care about scratching it up.. Reason I ask is I just got new clubs and scratched em up when I hit them our rocky places and I really would like to try to keep these clubs in good condition.. So if you have one what kind is it and where did you get it from?!
  17. I found these at Sports Authority for $10 for 15 balls.. I was surprised at the price for a 3 piece balls so decided to buy 1 box to try them out. Now i'm a high handiap(17) and have only been golfing for a year. The balls that i've ever used are the ones i've found around the course so i'm not a ball expert or even a novice! Im a golfer on a budget and hate to buying new balls just because of how expensive they are! So for $10 i might as well give these a shot. Off the tee these things go straight! I usually hit a fade and sometimes a slice! My fade has turned straight and my slice has turned to a slight fade.. With approach shots these can spin. They usually stop within in a feet from my divot. I even had one spin backwards on me with my 8 iron. As far as durability I was able to play one ball with 1 round with a little scuff on them. So their pretty durable. I liked them so much ended buying 3 more boxes of these! For $10 why not right??
  18. That's what I figured.. It didn't have white stakes but it was a public sidewalk and I assumed anything that's not golf purse property=OB.. He's ball was pretty much laying against te sidewalk..
  19. What about if the sidewalk is not part of the golf course and is considered a public sidewalk? That has to be OB right???? My friend said that's a free relief and I said no.. Since the sidewalk is OB you play it how it lies just like if your ball is right by an OB fence.. Play it as it lies.. Was I correct??
  20. Shooting par isn't that hard... All you have to do is hit most of your GIR then 2 putt.. If you don't hit GIR you just gotta get it up and down! It's that simple! You people make it seem like golf is difficult! ;)
  21. I'm with these guys.. You probably don't hit your 5 iron great if your hitting at 155.. I have the same distances as you 9i is 130 yard club and my 5 iron is my 170 club..
  22. I recently shot a 79 on Thursday of last week.. First time breaking 80 on a 6379 yard course 68.7/111.. Got me so stoked that I ended up shooting a 104 yesterday and a 98 today on different courses! Lol.. I'm taking a break the next few days no hitting balls or playing.. When I play I usually shoot for bogey each hole.. Bogey golf for me is a good score.. But ever since I shot a 79 all I've wanted to do is to shoot in the 70s again. So i was putting a lot of pressure on myself to hit par each hole when before I would be ok with getting on the green on 3 then 2 putt.. Gotta get back into that bogey golf mentality!
  23. I Just did my first official round today with these irons and I ended up shooting a 79! Lowest round ever and first time breaking 80! These irons are accurate! I didn't get extra yards with these irons but I'll take accuracy over distant any day.. I hit most of the greens on drives that were either on the fairway or on the 2nd cut.. I'll be honest I didn't like em during my first 2 range sessions an even thought about selling em.. But not anymore!
  24. You guys act like you need to run fast, jump high, have a rocket arm, elite quickness to play golf.. Have you guys seen the physique of some of these guys on tour? Ever wonder how guys that are 40+ and 50+ are still able to compete with youngsters on tour? You guys ever see 50 year olds still competeting in the NFL, MLB, NBA?? Don't get me wrong golf is a very difficult game but you don't need elite athletiscm to play it.. I think with golf is a typical which came first chicken or the egg scenario.. Was a players skill come from talent or was it yers of hard work and training.. If you look at most of the guys on your they've been playing since they were kids. So it's not like the guys stated playing he game at 21 and shot par the very first time they played..
