  1. I think that's rust and not the oil can finish, you may want to take a light scotch brite pad to it with a solvent.
  2. I'm not really sure you can do that with todays driver heads, as far as I know steel shafts are heavier and wouldn't that make the club head too light? Everything nowadays is tuned to specific weights and torques, I was at the golf shop today asking if the KBS shaft in my 4 iron cold be cut and swaped into my 8 iron but they said not possible cause the dynamics are completely different in those shaft lengths even though they look the same.
  3. Congrats, you got a few out there, however like you said your hitting it all over the place wich was expected and that was one of the reasons I doubted you hit it that far, but you did it so congrats.I need to get my self out to one of those also I really am surprised how much roll on some of those shots.
  4. I saw a playing partner of ours hit a cow, hes left handed so his slice went out on the pasture that bordered the course and smacked that cow right in the ass, we couldn't stop laughing for at least 10 minutes.
  5. Great day today par 72 6529 yards 72.6 rate 135 slope shot 74 front 35 one under baby, back 39 putts 30 fairways 12/14 GIR 10/18 birdies 3 pars 10 bogies 5 LOL when I posted this score the computer said this score is unusual are you sure? The real difference today was I played better irons than I have in a while, I have 4 too many swing keys I have to pay attention to but I was able to hold it together, I knew I was close to breaking through with a round like this and I think I'm getting real close to a player who scores in the 70's very often.I do believe I will get below a 5 index this year with obviously more days like today but I think breaking 70 wich is my real goal has a real chance of happening in the next couple years with more practice on my irons and short game.
  6. I agree also Jimbo, I'm heading out right now and I'll think of you when I hit that next 300 yarder out there. Good luck I know I have been critical some but I also tried to be fair about some of it also, hit em long and straight.
  7. I think the person who runs the facility or trackman is named Jeff and Eric said he would send him the results, if Jimbo wants to defend GPS versus state of the art technology that's fine hes only fooling himself on that one, I would suggest buying a laser instead and then you would get a true distance within a yard or two. I guess one 300 yard shot however it happens is what hes after to prove his point. I really don't see how it proves anything other than when someone disregards playing within their abilities can hit a ball a long ways after many swings that go in the trees,OB,hazards and what not. But I can also understand being called a liar and BS'er about what you did can make you want to prove you did it no matter the extremes you have to go to. Anyways good luck to you Jimbo, I honestly have no idea what is going to happen but it should be entertaining.
  8. Okay well then I think the fact that your course is in Vegas and you probably have never played anywhere else in the country should have been taken into consideration. Obviously the air is dry and the temperature is warm will give more carry and of course the ground is probably firm so the ball will get plenty of roll. I know for a fact 250 yards of carry under those conditions can give someone 300 yards quite easy so everyone who says you were full of it were not taking into consideration the playing elements you were at. I don't know how the trackman monitor works that is if it gets its data off the immediate impact or it actually tracks the ball the entire distance I guess we will see, but we will also see how you average out over a number of swings versus just saying this one or that one did this. Good Luck.
  9. I'm in,my birthday is the first week of september so this would be perfect.
  10. I wonder if he was soleing the putter wrong again, because that was pointed out sometime during the tournament that he fixed it but maybe a bad habit creeped up on him.
  11. That should be criminal.
  12. THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The way he finished at the memorial was vintage Tiger, anyone who thinks hes not gonna win majors is very misguided, it's not like he has to break out or anything but look at what Phil went through before he finally started winning them and how many regular events did he win before he finally broke through? Evryone knew Phil had what it took just like we know Tiger has it still it's just hes getting everything back together for another big push.
  13. When I first read the titile I thought the OP might be a lefty, I either tore or strained muscles along my rib cage a few months ago and was down for about 10 days. About 10 years ago I tore them for sure cause I couldn't breathe and I actually heard them tear loose when I swung that 6 iron (yes I remember what club and what hole). Now I try and get in a jacuzzi before and after every round and do stretching and it helps me a lot I think.
  14. That's what I was wondering, I really didn't think hes gonna carry 300 but I just didn't know who brought it up so that's why I ask, However I do believe to support his claim credibly he has to show some consistency at driving the ball in the 275 range at the very least after all his swings, just being able to hit a ball in hot dry thin air conditions on firm ground 300 yards after 20 swings really shouldn't count, but if that was all he was claiming to begin with then this is a waste of time other than the lesson he should get.
  15. Keep it in a plastic bag to preserve it, I use a sandwich bag.
  16. Just to clarify this, what does the OP have to actually accomplish? Does he have to consistently hit the ball all carry 300+ our just reach it carry and roll? Or does he just have to carry 300+ once or carry and roll just once? Or imo I think he has to show some level of consistently to hit it at our near 300+ with no editing.
  17. I think Tiger is stil on the rise, everything is starting to fall into place and by next year this time he could easily have 1 or 2 majors won, you don't dominate golf the way he did and ride off in the sunset by a few setbacks.
  18. Seems to be nagging pain that is in my left hip left flexor area and can cause sciatic pain and numbness at it's worse sometimes, about a month ago was probably swinging too hard and pulled or strained something in this area and had to stop full swings for about 10 days. Also have pain in right finger tips that I feel is caused from a very light grip with right hand and almost let go of club with right hand. Just curious if anyone else has any symptoms like these and if it's just from lack of stretching/warming up properly or should I pursue this with a visit to the doctor, not debilitating but does cause stiffness and will probably take glucosamine regularly to help also, need to get jacuzzi working again cause that really helps everything get loosened up as well.
  19. I say yes, hes gotten himself in contention with a new swing, it's just a matter of time.
  20. I remember some years ago golf magazine or digest interviewed some of the tour pro's and the TPC beat out the PGA with some of them,Trevino was one of the few who I think omitted the Masters from his list or the only one, needless to say Lee didn't care for the way they did things there and his game didn't fit the course well,
  21. Not sure what's more annoyng, the slow player you get grouped with or the guy who just chomps at the bit the whole round cause he wants to be done in less than 3 hours.Gotta say the slow players are more common than the other but I was paired up with this one guy that would do everything possible short of teeing my ball for me to speed our round up.This guy would always be first to putt out and then would grab the flag and freaking stand 5 feet from the cup breathing heavy while we tried to manage our putts, or take off in the cart speeding all the way behind the green while we were hitting our approaches. We were not holding anyone up and in fact were a half hour ahead of a 4.5 hour pace after 9 holes. Some people get a little too obsessed with playing fast that finishing in 3 hours seems to be the objective versus shooting a good score.I know that I'm not a slow player cause I have played plenty of 3.5 hour rounds in foursomes that played in a relaxed but steady pace but any faster than that means your just not giving yourself the necesary time to focus on every shot and need to just take it a bit easier.
  22. I have been guilty of hitting a second teeshot on the first hole if I had to run to the first tee from the parking lot, fortunately most people are cool with it for that one swing but after that it's golf.
  23. If your serious about getting lessons soon then that's all you need to do, sounds like your fairly new at golf and the very best thing to do is have a trained eye help you rather than try to figure something out that 99.99% of the population can't.
  24. 87 front 41 back 46 All out crappy day, played different course because there was tournament at home cours, will never return as long as memory serves me, my shoes were covered in mud after 5 holes because of crummy drainage, they decided to water the hell out of the place because it will get over 100 today but they also turned the place into a mucky mess and have a geese problem on top of it all.played 45 rounds at home course and have never had my shoes covered like they were today.
