  1. I use the epochs and zero friction, the zero friction seem to be a little bit more durable, but as others have mentioned the epochs are easier to place the ball on. Both last quite a while and that is why I use them, I would rather just have a few in the bag, instead of carrying quite a few wooden tees with me. Haven't really noticed a difference in performance, but I guess you have to put a consistent golf swing on the ball to see a difference
  2. has anybody seen if there is a difference between the 65 and 75 UST Proforce High Launch? I kind of want a little heavier shaft after hitting a friends, but don't know if there is much of difference between the two.
  3. Depends, I always wear a collared shirt and golf cap, either Titleist or Mizuno. Almost always tuck in the shirt. I play at a private course, and most guys are playing in Jeans, or shorts. It is more of small rural town so that figures. I usually wear jeans to work, so if I play in the afternoon during the week I will head out in jeans. On the weekend, either slacks or if it is pretty warm, shorts. Always tucked in on those days. I try to match stuff as much as any straight single man can actually match his clothing, which means probably not very well. I think this says that I want to look good, but not stand out too much.
  4. low 18 was last Friday with an 83 on a par 71, lowest 9 was the back 9 of that round in which I was 4 over 39. I hopefully will continue this as I shot an 85 the next day....
  5. A buddy of mine played down there a few weeks ago with an 8 handicap (my friend is a 16 or so) and they played it from about 6600-6700, and the 8 shot a 95. He said the rough was long, but that they were told it would be thicker for the open. He said the greens were fast, but he figured they would harder and faster for the open, so take that for what it is worth. Also, my buddy wouldn't tell me what he shot.....
  6. I always play it as it lies in casual rounds because I am going for a score and thus it is only fitting to do so. I played in my first tournament last week and I am glad I play my casual rounds that way, because I had a difficult shot in a very bad lie that I had a week previously. I was able to make a good play correctly because of that. Too bad I played terribly overall, but for that shot it helped
  7. I am a 19, but I have titleist Woods and putter, and am looking at going to titleist irons, so I would go with them. but really I wouldn't be disappointed with most of the choices on there....
  8. Does anybody have any experience with the Project X HL shaft? I was fitted and recommended to get the TT DG High Launch, and was curious as to how the Project X HL compares? I have hit Project X shafted irons before, but not on a course or with a launch monitor, and the place I got fitted at didn't have any of those shafts. Any feedback would be much appreciated, even though if I do make decide to get new irons I will go hit all these different shafts.
  9. My brother has a r7 425, and this looks the same, I can't tell any differences. I will look at my brother's the next time we play with a little more scrutiny and if I see any descernable difference then I will post again.
  10. I have and probably always will take my practice swing next to my ball. Now, instead of just setting up after the practice swing, I back out, look at my target from behind the ball, line it up and set my club up facing along that line then step into my stance. I have been playing much more consistently this way. For putting I take my practice strokes behind the ball, then follow the same procedure. On the tee I line the Titleist where I want it to go, then set up along that path. Whatever you do, do it consistently, the first couple rounds that I started doing this, I caught myself not doing it, and made sure I did it.
  11. There is also the special edition MP-100s, they looked awfully similar to the mp-67s, but those were out a few years ago.
  12. At a golf school, I got told that my fitter was going to do the same thing, and recommended I do the same. I am going to wait until I get my handicap down before I go buy a set of them, but man they are nice.
  13. Had the Callaway X 3&5 wood, really great clubs, the 3 was a little hard for me to hit off the deck, but the 5 was great for that. Used the 3 as my driver for at least 6 months, and dropped my handicap several strokes probably just because I kept it in play more often. Hit the Burner at Golfsmith a couple times, the head just seemed too big, same with the Callway X hot 3.
  14. Great software, I have only put 3 rounds in so far, but I noticed an alarming trend that I haven't really been keeping track of, my horrible putting! In the last three rounds I have had 5 3 putts and have an average of 33 putts per round ! I am no great player, but feel I should be under 30 putts per round. Not a particularly sophisticated stat, but very meaningful and lets me know what I will be working on the next few practice sessions.
  15. just got a scotty 33" putter from them. I had a good experience with them, the club arrived in better shape then I expected, and the grip is what I expected (I will be regripping this weekend). But it was a good deal on a very difficult to find club. I also have dealt with 3 balls golf, and I had multiple good experiences with them.
  16. I have the Sun Mountain MPB bag, wonderful bag, it is a little heavier then your regular carry bag, but it has more features and the criss-crossing shoulder straps. Also has 14 full lenth dividers so I can keep my clubs from clanking around too badly. I usually use a push cart, and this fits in it really well. Gives me the option to carry if I get to the course and have forgotten the cart at home.
  17. What has really changed with Putter technology? I guess there is some new insert materials or the alignment aid (like the two ball) but on the Karsten anser putter, I am hard pressed with new tech that changes the way the club performs. If anything the technology should have made it cheaper to produce said putter more then improve how it performs.
  18. Go to Titleists website: www.titleist.com There is a drop down in the upper right hand corner that says my account, if you don't have an account I think you will have to create one. I click on edit account and on the right there is options for several things including product registration. I have my driver, 3W, and Vokey registered. Hope this helps!
  19. I was given a vokey for christmas, it is standard length/lie, I was fitted for 1/2" short, 2 degree flat lie. I know the vokey is a cast club, and have never had a cast club bent, and I know there is a better chance of shattering then in a forged club. Is the 2 deg lie angle bend plausible in this club? Thanks in advance!
  20. Have had this happen in the last 2 weeks, I lost on an auction for some prov1s and for a scotty putter. Got 2nd chance offers away from ebay, with same story of sick relative overseas and the item is with a shipping company he regularly uses. couple things to spot on this, check your ebay account, if you have not received a message actually through ebay, then it is not legit. The email was also some random email, that was nothing close to the sellers email. I changed my password on my ebay account because I was afraid somebody might have hacked that. Not a bad idea to do regularly, I have done it since somebody listed a ferrari under my account. There are a lot of big sellers on there, be wary of the little guy that has very little feedback. I am selling some of my used clubs, and list them as such. if somebody is smaller and selling in this way, they should have positive feedback for items they have bought as well.
  21. I bought my driver off ebay, it has the # engraved on the hosel, after buying I registered it on Titleist's website, and it proceeded without a problem. The one I purchased was a demo club (it has Demo stamped on the grip where titleist normally is) and got it for just over $200 unhit. On a side note, I previously bought a Callaway that was indeed counterfeit, it had a seriel number, in the correct spot but when I tried to register it, it came back that this number did not exist. It also had one noticeable difference in the face. I had bought a couple other clubs before, but from people with more positive feedback, I was excited to get this particular club and didn't pay that much attention and got burned for it. I would check pictures (there should be pictures of the actual club) with either actual clubs or pictures directly from the manufacturer, a small difference means it ain't legit. Also you could ask the seller for the serial number or for him to guarentee authenticity.
  22. I just got back from 2 days at the Butch Harmon School of Golf, and I will say that I learned alot and am really glad I went. I have a lot to work on in all facets of my game, but I feel like I got a really solid foundation to work off of. I played nine yesterday and shot a 43 (better then I normally do buy a 2-3 strokes) and felt like I hit the ball better. As others have said, the fundamentals were drilled, and also how you approach every shot. Playing with very good players (the instructors) for 9 holes in 35 mph winds also gave some insight into how better players think differently then I do on what shots to hit. I know that it is going to take a while (and a lot of practice) to improve, but I am excited to get after it
  23. Going to Charlotte for work next week Feb 19-21, and will have time to play in the morning on 2/21. Couple of questions for anyone from that area, what kind of weather to expect that time of year, and also, any good public courses that aren't going to burn a hole in my pocket? Any feedback would be much appreciated!
  24. Haven't voted yet, but hopefully they work. I have only had one, at the end of the 2006 season, and I played horribly for two weeks because I tried to do too much change at once. I am going to Vegas for a couple days at the Butch Harmon School of golf next week, so hopefully I will be able to say that it helped tremendously.
  25. This is what I would agree with, I have DG S300 on my irons and DG Wedge flex on my sand wedge. Irons I am very concerned with having accuracy and consistent distance, so I think a stiff flex will help me more then the regular flex. When I got fitted for my irons the fitter recommended stiff, otherwise I would have stayed with regular. I have always had R flex in my woods, and I think I have always been on the cusp of R and S flex. I play in a very windy area, so maybe I should rethink that. I went to Golfsmith the other day to demo a couple fairway woods, and without warmup or my regular golf attire (incl. shoes) I was about 90-93 mph swing speed. Figure I am normally averaging around 95. Just my two cents and where I am at.
