  1. Anyone find a good live stream? I am not getting along with Google today. E: Besides the CBS stream of no. 12 and no. 16 that doesn't start until mid morning.
  2. They look like the silver TW '15s that he tweeted about.
  3. Thanks for the feedback. I worked on keeping my stance narrow this weekend, along with making a circular turn rather than lateral. Results were pretty good.
  4. Best guess at yardage to middle of the green. Is it above me or below me? Add or subtract a club appropriately Then decide what club I need based on what I think my averages are. Then add 1 club. Add 2 clubs if it's really wet.
  5. Well a couple things that I think i've improved on since last TST swing review: head is staying much more still but still not perfect because of the overswing, plane is much better, contact is ball first for the most part, have reduced the push and putting a nice draw on the ball (when it's not hooking). The bad: it looks like I am overswinging big time, but doesn't feel like it during my swing. Also need to get rid of that Freak Nasty dip on the downswing. I was told by a playing partner that my feet are set up much too wide on tee shots. If I narrowed my stance, I wonder how that would affect my balance?
  6. I've been Playing Golf for: Appx 4 years My current handicap index or average score is: 10-12 hcp My typical ball flight is: medium height draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: snap hook and losing balance My problem right now is losing my balance on my big clubs. Most times teeing off I do not have a pretty finish, I end up "following" the ball or falling back off my finish. The ball flight is OK, but I just cannot seem to find that good balance in my swing with the 4W/driver. Big miss is the snap hook. Can anyone help? Any other suggestions besides help keeping balance? Bad quality and no behind view, will try to update this weekend. s:
  7. Hey guys, I have a pair of Footjoy performance shorts size 32. I need to size up my shorts to 34, and would like to get a little $ back for these guys. No tags, and they have been worn once and washed/dried once. Very good condition. Color is black. As anyone who wears FJ knows these are high quality - very stretchy and comfortable. Can provide pics later as I am at work now. Wear on these is absolutely minimal. If interested please message me. I am sure we can work something out.
  8. Jenkins takes shots at the most vulnerable player on tour with jokes that feel older than Rory, and ends up with nothing but a flaccid piece of computer paper journalism that elicits groans from readers and a letter from Tiger's agency asking "what the heck are you smoking, dude?" There are too many exciting, positive things happening in golf for a writer as talented as Dan Jenkins to push out this faux-interview. It feels like he is trying for humor, but it reads like limp cyber-bullying. Does Jenkins have a charity that does more good than the Tiger Woods Foundation? Is there some detail I'm missing? What on earth was Jenkins' motivation? Why would this be published, print or online, by Golf Digest? Looks like it's time to cancel the subscription. What a groan-fest. I hope that Jenkins find something nice to say about a golfer under 40. Or at least crank out another Baja Oklahoma before leaving the industry. Until then I'm taking my signed copy off of display. (I'm sure this just breaks Jenkins' old heart ) And they wonder why young people are tuning into reality TV instead of the golf channel. Turn Jenkins' writing up a couple degrees, throw in some expletives, and he comes off as a drunk Snooki berating a stranger at a bar.
  9. Not the hill I'd choose to die on, but to each his own.
  10. I can only offer insight between the AP1 and AP2. I honestly didn't notice that much of a difference between the two during a round where I would hit my AP1 and then my buddy's AP2 (same club). For example the 8i, same distance, nearly same flight, height, roll-out, etc. Ap2 felt much crisper but that was probably a mental thing because looking down at that thinner top line is very appealing to the eye. In addition if you have several mishits a round like me, the AP2's will likely punish you a bit more. Example I hit my 4i AP2 on a long par 3, mishit on the toe but it still ran long and ended up greenside. Tried the AP2, felt like same shot same mistake (toe) and the ball only went about 2/3 as far with roughly the same swing speed. Clearly the ap2s are less forgiving but that's just something that you sacrifice to look at the topline. What I can say is good God the AP2's look so sexy at address, AP1s are shovels but they work for me. Enjoy your new set!
  11. mvmac thanks for the insight and detailed response as always. I am just learning how the glutes relieve the lower back during the swing. I incorporate a lot of core and hamstrings into my golf swing exercise routine while completely ignoring the glutes. I have just read from your post and other articles about how important the glutes are, which is news to me. When the glutes are underactive or underutilized, I have read and heard that the brain will defer that strain to the hamstrings, which results in strain on the lower back and SI joints, which is no good. My takeaway from this thread is working on glute strength and endurance and keeping good golf posture. Any insight on Stack & Tilt causing or relieving the golfer of lower back pain? I have read mixed reviews.
  12. What can we take from Bernhard Langer, Kenny Perry, and others that are competing at a high level well into their 50's? Even someone like Phil who is not getting any younger? Is there a series of swing thoughts or general practices that these guys are using that maybe cut back on distance, but will save the golfer's back, knees, ankles? There is a generation of 20's and 30's that are growing up and seeing their first chronic injuries come back and back again. (On a side-note, will Rory's swing last with his aggressive reverse C at finish? Or is there a countdown timer on these new explosive swings that will sideline the golfer by age 40?) Any thoughts are appreciated as I am sitting here with a heating pack on my lower back (SI joints?). Besides regular stretching and everyday posture, what do YOU do or what have you done with your swing to lengthen the number of tee times you'll see? Edit here is the link to Moe Norman's blog I found while I was researching the correlation between the reverse C finish and SI joint pain. http://moenormangolf.com/a-swing-of-disastrous-distortions/
  13. Some random commenters on barstoolsports say that he did a ton of cocaine at Coastal. Take that with a gram of salt. I mean, a grain.
  14. The embedded video is making a fuss. I think she is the one I watched very briefly this weekend. I saw her pull-shank one on a par 3 after this ridiculous swing.
  15. I'd be lucky to find a perfect fit 1 out of 5 pants off the rack. I am of pretty average build. Who cares about an untucked shirt, if the shirt fits. I've seen one too many pairs of muddy pants bottoms dragging on the ground to not let my good friends at TST know! As far as how I'm playing? ...fashionably.
  16. This is a good point. It's important to find a shaft weight and stiffness and trajectory that suits you. Almost moreso than the head itself. A good fitter will have head/shaft combos so that you can get an idea of where he ball flight is coming from (assuming you have a consistent swing) - whether it be a shaft or head that is contributing to ballooning, or a hook, etc.
  17. Bonus points if you or your spouse can hem, boom immediate money savings.
  18. http://www.target.com/p/c9-by-champion-men-s-duo-dry-32-golf-pants/-/A-14148908 Go to Target and try on a pair of these. Fabric is undeniably thin and lightweight. Freeball with baby powder and you will be twice as cool as wearing shorts, I guarantee it.
  19. My new pet peeve is people who buy the $85 pair of designer pants and don't bother worrying about the fit. Get the legs taken in, get the length shortened to your liking so that your pants aren't bunched up over your shoes. How can I see you sweet new shoes if your dumb ass orange pants are bunched over them and dragging on the ground? I buy the $25 pair of Champion golf pants from Target, pay $15 to hem the length and if necessary take the leg in, and look like a badass tour pro with the perfect pair of pants (until I swing my club). So NOW YOU KNOW!!
  20. Found this thread via search function and had to "bump" it with some of my thoughts. I know it's old but there is good stuff here. There is a lot of priceless info up there for anyone who has room to stand up and move their hips while reading. I'd like to say that I've been reworking my drive to allow myself to get more power behind the ball. In the past, I set up with a slightly open stance, slightly closed club face, aimed left side of the fairway, and cleared my hips in the downswing before clearing my hands. This produced a 225-245 yard "power fade" that I grew accustomed to and "lived with." The harder I swung the more it faded, often with bad results. I did some range work and got help from a couple of scratch players and we reworked my swing so that when I begin my downswing, my hands are the first thing to move. When leading my downswing with my hands my hips naturally follow and I can "slide" through impact. It was rough at first but holy cow does it produce a straight drive. Nothing like finding a gem like that on the range and then coming here to read up on it. Thanks for the post!!
  21. I would never do that (the 200% swing) but if you're playing off 2 then do what works for you. I tend to just stretch and get blood flowing to my legs, stretch shoulders etc. Make sure my torso and hips are good to turn. I've taken a few things from Jiminez's routine including the side to side knee dance.
  22. Those are wild looking. If I were you I'd be looking for a buyer ASAP. I mean hell they're too ugly to even put on display, all due respect. Try to find some Japanese golf forums, Muira forums, etc and nail down your market. Then post some high quality pics.
  23. http://thesandtrap.com/b/playing_tips/ball_flight_laws Read this understand this and apply this to your game!
  24. Interesting thanks for following up. Uh I guess I shouldn't be holding a used tee in my mouth then. Hm.
