  1. Swing looks real nice man keep it up. I struggle with keeping my back swing short enough and one tip I read on here was to feel like you are keeping your right arm straight during your backswing. It won't actually stay straight of course. Good luck.
  2. Hey Beachcomber, thanks for the reply. You are right on the mark. Extension and feeling like I'm expanding my chest during my backswing was what James covered 2 videos ago. I can see what you mean about being under plane at A4. Will focus on improving that issue. Can't wait till I really get the backswing locked down. Thanks again bro! Hope your swing changes are going well.
  3. Ahh okay I didn't realize you meant the tilting. That's a good question and I'm not sure. Hopefully someone will come along and give us an answer.
  4. Wow I'm jealous! The courses I frequent these days are pretty blue collar, so I only ever find top flights :( I used to do tree work at some private courses in New England and it was ridiculous. Walk five feet into the woods and you'd find prov's left and right.
  5. Swing update! Still working with James on evolvr, which has been awesome. Lately he has me focusing on sequencing, specifically holding my hips off until I get to P6 and then firing with everything. This has really helped. Right heel isn't lifting up nearly as much, hitting less pulls. Hoping this unusually warm winter weather keeps up! Thanks for looking.
  6. Hey man def kind of dark, but looks to me like you are making some great improvements! Here is a great thread about the heading dipping: http://thesandtrap.com/t/41932/ground-reactive-forces-and-jumping-for-power From what I understand it's not something to worry about.
  7. Thanks for uploading the vids. Really helpful to see the swings of you guys that know what you're doing.
  8. His most recent blog comment mentions that he is just realizing that he flips at impact. Really? Seems like something he should already be aware of with all his coaching and practice. Someone needs to tell him about evolvr I wish he would upload a nice slow mo dtl and caddy view swing video every few weeks. I'd be interested in watching his swing improvements over time.
  9. One thing I notice is your hands could go deeper in your backswing. That will help to reduce your slice. Here is a really good thread on it: http://thesandtrap.com/t/30325/deep-hands-explained Good luck!
  10. Congrats man! I know how exciting it is, I felt the same way when I started to be able to hit the draw consistently. (Which was pretty recently :D) Now you get to worry about it not turning into a hook! At least that's been what I have to watch for. Especially with my hybrid. But man stepping up to the tee and not worrying about push slicing it OB is a thing of beauty.
  11. Ugh dammn not sure why the youtube vids arent working. They showed up when I was typing out the post. Will try again later.
  12. Got a new camera with 240p video so I thought I'd upload some new videos. This thing is sooo much better for analyzing my swing than my droid :D Still on evolvr, which is going well. Working on my transition and weight transfer. I have a tendency to stop my hip slide too early and over rotate which has been causing lots of pulls. Doing the 9-3 drill a lot at the range and focusing on getting my right foot to roll instead of lifting my heel. It's slowly getting better. Thanks for looking, any help always welcome!
  13. Hey man, looks like you are working hard, keep it up! A couple things. As far as a trigger for your wrist hinge. Check out this thread about your trigger finger: http://thesandtrap.com/t/57531/the-importance-of-pp3-lower-hand-index-finger-against-the-club When I separated my right hand index finger slightly it helped me feel my wrist hinge more. The hinging action for me happens pretty naturally just from moving my arms into position in the backswing. The newest video of the drill it looks like you have maybe have a bit too much hinging since your arms havent gone very high yet. You might try having more forward press at address. One other thing I noticed, your hips seem kind of out of sync with your arms. Check out this video by Ben Hogan that I really like. He really shows how your arms should be connected to the rest of your body during the downswing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtleMCfvy3I Hope this helps, good luck!
  14. Looks like you have a powerful swing. Nice! One thing that I noticed, you are lunging at the ball with your upper body which causes your head to move forward quite a bit. So you don't end up in that reverse c impact position that is ideal. Like this photo of Hogan: Here is thread on this site that's helped me a lot with similar issues: http://thesandtrap.com/t/54540/a-centered-pivot Good luck!
  15. Wow nice swing for someone just starting out. I too used to play baseball I see a lot of the same stuff I'm working on. It looks to me like you are swinging too much with your arms. This is one thing that causes the over the top motion you are talking about. I don't know of any drills specifically, but I'm sure there are videos on youtube. I try to feel like my hip slide initiates the downswing and that causes my arms to drop. Keep it up!
  16. Howdy! Like the swing. Your stance at address looks really good. One thing I noticed on your side view shot, you might want more hip slide. Here is a great thread about it on this forum: http://thesandtrap.com/t/29616/the-biggest-secret-slide-your-hips Happy swingin.
  17. Hey, like the swing. Nice and smooth and like the takeaway. One thing I noticed was you might want more hip slide when you start your downswing. Here is a thread on this site about it that I found really helpful: http://thesandtrap.com/t/29616/the-biggest-secret-slide-your-hips Good luck!
  18. From what I understand, maintaining your spine angle throughout the swing is actually not correct. Here is a sandtrap thread about it with some videos: http://thesandtrap.com/t/43582/martin-hall-on-the-spine-angle Hope this helps!
  19. I'm working on this right now also. I think basically, you allow your upper body to tilt to the left as you are rotating back. Here is a video that I found really helpful:
  20. Wow your backswing looks a lot better! Keep up the good work. I'm also fixing my backswing and I definitely have to focus on it a lot, but it's starting to get more natural.
  21. Too be honest I didnt watch the whole video so you may be right. I was just trying to find a video talking about flaring your feet at address. Are you saying that flaring your feet is pure nonsense? This is a pic I found on another thread posted by mvmac:
  22. Hey man like the swing. I'm no expert, but one thing I noticed was your feet position at address. I used to have them facing straight at the ball like you do and now have them facing about 30 degrees out. It really helps give your hips more ability to rotate. Hope this helps! Don't know anything about this guy on youtube, but he seems address what I'm talking about:
  23. The evolvr lessons are going great. James has been helping me. Getting just a few specific things to work on from someone who really knows what they're talking about is huge. When I first started getting serious about my game earlier this year, I saw plenty of things wrong with my swing, but had no way of making a plan of attack to correct the problems. Initially tried going to a reputable pga pro that charged $40 per 45 minute lesson. He gave me a few helpful tips, but a lot of swing advice conflicted with info I've read on here and other forums. Ended up canceling after only one lesson, and jumped on evolvr. So happy I did. My golf budget is also really low at the moment, so the low cost is great as well.
  24. 7.5 degree driver?? Dang no wonder he's having problems hitting fairways. Seems crazy to make a change like that right before a big tournament.
