Hey, just thought I'd point out Wilson 50 Elites come in a very similar color, I've starting hitting these due to the price difference between them and e6's. I've loved them so far and don't shed a tear over getting one scuffed up at 13 bucks for a dozen. Just a thought...

Played River Bend Links in Tunica today from the white tees 69.1/113 Shot a 99 which I'm happy with being that its only the 3rd time I've ever broke 100. All 3 times have actually been out of my last 4 games so I'm feeling better about my game. Being that I'm running off about 11 hours of sleep in the last 3 nights due to the baby I was actually expecting a lot worse.

Unfortunately I used to play with a pathological liar four or five years ago. This was before I took golf too seriously and I mainly went out to enjoy a few beers and find a few lost balls while searching for mine (luckily we don't have busy courses). Anyways, I still knew a little bit of the rules and could not stoop to the levels that he did. Of course you pretty much had unlimited mulligans in his eyes, the foot-wedge was one of his most popular clubs (unless he just picked up his ball and tossed it in the fairway), just about any putt inside 6 feet was a gimmie, and the more beer you drank the better your score would be. BUT the one thing that just made me madder than anything would be hearing him brag about his scores!! I would always be in the 100's and he would be swearing up and down he hit a 77!! WHAT??? Did you really just claim that??? I'm so glad I don't play with him anymore and have a buddy that is now taking the game more seriously.

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
dtambo replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I bought the hank haney monster golf net on a whim. Excited til I got home and read reviews on how much a piece of junk it supposedly is. It will be going back. Unopened. Oh and got some yellow Wilson 50 elites too -
Thanks Rulesman! I'm going to let him know about those rules. And yeah, I dunno if I wanted to capture him or not. He was helping the wrong person! But it was definitely a sight to see!

Hi, I use an app on my phone which is rather handy (don't know if I can name it or not, I'll PM you with the one I use though if you would like). It keeps up with scores, weather, round duration, handicap and even stats like your overall best and worst holes. Its just fun to go back and review my progress from the past as well... Plus its free for the lite version! I actually read this post because I'm still curious about handicaps. So back on topic: If I were eventually wanting to play in a local tournament at a public course I would need to pay to have my handicap kept up with before I decide to play in it? Just curious about that.

My buddy and I played a new course the other day with rather fast greens. On one hole my buddy hit a decent shot onto the green about six feet from the hole. When we got up to the green a beetle was apparently trying to get under his ball and instead was pushing it rather quickly (for a beetle!) towards the hole. We sat there a second and watched it til we realized he wasn't stopping and then flicked him out of the way. Not knowing where the ball originally started, but knowing it was around a foot closer to the hole than when we first spotted him, we just let him putt from the spot where we stopped the beetle. We're not being picky or anything, but we were discussing what would be the proper ruling on this and what would normally be done?

Well I sure appreciate all of your helpful input, videos and links guys. It makes me realize I need to go to the range and study my swing a bit more and ball flight as well. I'm headed to the range today being that I finally have an opportunity and will do my best to try to see what I can realize on my own. As for lessons, my vacation week at work is coming up and I'm working on getting at least a good lesson or two in that week.
-
I do tend to hit a handful of pulls but not always. I think that once I get a lesson or two under my belt it would help drastically to have an instructors eye on my swing. Working on lining up some lessons soon once I find a decent instructor that works weekends! I will say that by some of the signs I've seen on the ground I'm hitting an out to in swing path a good bit of the time, so I do believe that it is an unfortunate true slice.

I usually see it said to place ball on the inside of the left heel (or close to anyways)... So according to what you say I may not be doing it all that wrong anyways huh? And Ron I'll check my alignment better next time at the range....which is where I may just head out to here shortly

I normally struggle with a pretty mean slice with my driver. I've read as much as I could find on it and tried different techniques to try to fix this, but somehow keep ending up going back to the one fix that helps me most and that's ball placement. If I place the ball on the OUTSIDE of my left foot (i'm right handed) then I can about 90% of the time diminish the slice enough that it ends up just about where I want it to land. I don't understand how it works like that, but it does and I'm wondering if its just a cheap fix for something that I should be looking elsewhere in my setup for the problem. Does anyone else have to do this? I've been a very casual golfer for the last oh.... 3 or 4 years or so and didn't really care about my score that much, just having fun. This ball placement has always been my "fix" for slices, but now I'd like to take golf a bit more serisouly (including lessons along the way if my wife, 2yr old, and newborn permit ). So that's pretty much why I'm asking.

I'll be in Memphis Sunday at the FedEx St Jude. This is my first time going to one and looking forward to it. Wish there were a few more big names, but at least hoping to get to see Phil make it to Sunday.

A buddy of mine was going to try to play over one of the ponds that has the green just on the other side of it. I always tease him on these shots that he's just gonna sink one in the drink. Sure enough the ball heads straight for the pond and I get to chuckling, til I hear a plastic like thump and see the ball bounce OUT of the pond and onto the bank next to the green!! The ONLY thing that we can figure out is that being a warm day and all the turtles that were out he had very luckily bounced one off the turtle shell!! Could not quit laughing about that one!

BIZARRE ball flight at the range tonight
dtambo replied to sixonezero's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I had that same thing happen to me today with brand new golf balls. It was very odd and happened so quickly but the ball just looked like it made a (and this may sound stupidly impossible) quick circle went right, dipped down then back left. I've never had this happen and figured it to be the ball as I had bought some super cheap Wilson FLI's... but later was hitting a Callaway tour ix and the same exact thing happened. Only thing i could figure is maybe I was hitting a crosswind off the lake and that was causing it. Just not sure why it's never happened before as I play this course 95% of the time and there is usually wind coming off the lake. -
