If by "them" you mean any tour player, I've seen a few players light up on the course. Many of the asian players smoke during their round(s). I'm assuming here but the people that are watching Tiger are probably well aware of his "antics". I'd say the odds are good that they've seen these things on tv or have read or heard about them. It's there choice to follow him, it's their choice to hear and see these things. He should stop it because you and some other armchair quarterbacks say so? I pretty much consider Tiger (and many of the other tour players) self employed. That's an issue for him to face.....no concern of mine. Good chance it's going to go down as any other parent that faces that issue.

my courses site is quite weak as well.

with no other variables......my 21° hybrid. That club is so sweet to hit out of the rough.
-
Just saying.....

I also thought that ...at first. Then I noticed that his weight is on his front foot.

Interesting. I just measured my pinky to crease on my ring finger and my pinky goes 3/8" past the crease. I'm a freak! I'd just traded my 7.5° Ping G10 with a Graffaloy Prolaunch Red shaft for a 7.5° Ping G10 with an Aldilla NV 65-S shaft. The grip on the club with the Aldilla shaft was way too small and worn out. Had a new grip put on...... +1/16 It felt great!

I carry a 17° Taylor Made Rescue TP and absolutely love it! The head has a very low profile and is extremely easy to hit out of the fairway and rough. Would recommend it to any friend. However, as DFBike has stated, if you like your G10's, why not go with another of those? You won't have to adjust to a different looking club. I'd considered going with a G10 for my 21° but went TM instead because of this. I prefer some consistancy at address.

I'm also with Barkley on this one. Parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, etc... I understand as role models. Whether it's following in their paths in life and learning from them or from learning from their mistakes in life and choosing a different path. Athletes/Professionals can be a different form of "role model". As long as it's limited to what it is they do....their field. Learn from how they'd made it to where they are in they're particular field. If that's where you'd like to be, then..... I think Tiger covers the spectrum of emotions involved in the game nicely. And about the complaining of this going on on TV.....what TV program can you watch where you don't here G** D***it, S**t, A**, B***h or see violence? Sitcoms - Nope Dramas - Nope Network News - Nope Any other sport - Negative NASA channel - yeah....but.... Discovery - Not sure but probably

Laser Rangefinder Expectations
ERC7.5 replied to patriot07's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have much of this same problem but I can honestly say that my issue is due to technique. I have to have a supre stable base in order to get my hands still...and I still shake (damned caffeine). However, with that being said, I still am able to get my yardages within a few tries. I use the same method as Erik (holding down the button and aim at the flag). In playing a few rounds with Erik I can tell you that he is very accurate and quick in getting the yardage he's shooting for.... I definitely need some practice. All in all....I say the unit is affective and a great tool. It just takes some practice and stability. -
I have pretty small hands. Had an extra wrap of tape added when I had my clubs re-gripped (did so after swinging a friends identical set of clubs with an extra wrap). They feel more secure to me with the extra 1/64". The other day I hit another friends driver (same driver as mine with a different shaft and standard grip) and it didn't feel as near secure as mine does.

Wooooooooo! Again....it is a best of 7 series after all. Pens.....did it!

Oh, we're here. You do recall that this is a Best of 7 series, correct?

Just found this quote...thought it applied well here. "Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but the thing dies in the process and the innards are discouraging to any but the pure scientific mind." - E.B. White (author of Charlotte's Web)

Past, Even or short of paralell
ERC7.5 replied to Titleist Man's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I'd always gone past parallel up until last year. It was just natural and felt right but I was always being told that I tood it too far. Last year I started working on shortening it up and most of my best shots (with irons) are short of parallel...about 3/4 backswing. Driver, 3W and hybrids still go to parallel. -
Just checked out the clip on espn.com......clutch. Can't say the shot tops Jordans shot in '89 but it's right there. Go Cavs/Go Pens
-
That's what I'm pulling for.....GO PENS!

So jokes about pornographic films involving children from the age of 5-18 are perfectly acceptable? Must be a Bob Saget fan.... Source: http://www.golfdigest.com/magazine/blogs/localknowledge/2009/05/fehertys-attempt-at-humor-land.html “This passage was a metaphor meant to describe how American troops felt about our 43rd president,” Feherty said in a statement. “In retrospect, it was inappropriate and unacceptable, and has clearly insulted Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, and for that, I apologize. As for our troops, they know I will continue to do as much as I can for them both at home and abroad.” That's wobbling through a metaphor? Looks to me as though it is simply stating that it was a metaphor. Like a member of the US armed forces would knock off an American prior to taking out Bin Ladin. We've dealt with those two yam-bags for this long.... And whether it's a "joke" or a "metaphor"....it's not a direct threat to the named....so why is this still getting so much attention? Have you stopped sobbing yet?

Wasn't George W. Bush the butt of a good many insensitive jokes/comments which surely violated proper respect for service men and women and our elected leaders? Also, just as recent as the other night at the White House Corresponants Dinner, Wanda Sykes made a comment that she wishes that Rush Limbaugh would have kidney failure (in effect wishing that he would die). And Barack Obama laughed. Did he laugh because he wishes the same thing? Probably not....he laughed because it was a joke. Words are simply words....big deal....get over it. They have zero power until someone raises a stink over it...such as you are doing. Sure! Why not? It'd definitely be more appropriate than the comment in question. But why shouldn't Feherty or anyone else be able to make such a comment? It was not a direct threat. It was a statement that was intended to be a joke. You don't find it funny....oh well. Move on.... Anyway....it seems as though it was some sort of open column for any Dallas resident... Source: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=4154864&type;=story Feherty was among five Dallas residents who wrote for "D Magazine" on former President George W. Bush moving to Dallas In your opinion. I think any punishment would be unconstitutional....but definitely up to CBS. Being that he didn't use any CBS medium (to my knowledge), I'm not sure why they'd feel the need to do anything.

A good article that was posted in a previous thread discussing this topic: Source: http://www.pga.com/2008/instruction/putting/01/09/weeks_planetruth/index.html Some well-known putting gurus will preach about the importance of the putting "arc." Other renowned teachers will preach "straight back and straight through." Confused? So which is it? And what does the distinction mean? My belief is that golf is nothing more than applied physics. If you were to design an object to swing straight back and straight through, you would insert shaft that's 90 degrees to the head. The USGA's Rules of Golf state, however, that the shaft can be no greater than 80 degrees to the ground. Consider this: If you were going to swing straight back and through, you would straddle the intended line of play like croquet. The USGA, though, requires players to have both feet on the same side of the ball outlawing Sam Snead's croquet style putting. This creates a side-on game, like hitting a baseball, hitting a groundstroke in tennis or hitting a hockey puck. All swing in an arc. My high school physics class tells me the putter whose standard lie angle is 71 degrees is not designed to swing straight back and straight through. And in my putting research, I have found that golfers who try to swing straight back and through are manipulating the putter face closed on the back swing and open on the downswing and follow through. Over time manipulations break down, causing the yips. If you want to really help your putting don't think about swinging the putter straight back and straight through but focus much more on your target line and the speed of the putt.

Hmm....good call. Agreed. Also not taken into account is the transition which, I would think, would cause a whipping effect. Upon watching the video, I saw a bit of flex almost immediately from the start of the back swing..... Inertia.... ugh...way too complex for me at the moment. I'm at work....and I shouldn't be working this hard. Anyway....still impressive and as Erik had said:
-
Just some estimates but....consider this: Approximate arclength from end of backswing to impact with the ball (go with vertical). The back swing appears to end at say 120°. Distance Club Head Traveled: Arc = 270°-120° = 150° Shaft = ~3.08' Arms = ~2.5' Radius = 5.58' Arclength = ~14.6' Swing Speed: SS = ~105 mph = ~554400fph Time: 14.6' @ 554400'/hr = .000026 hrs. .000026 hrs. * 60 = .00158 mins. .00158 mins. * 60 = .094 secs. Considering the shaft is flexed as such for just a portion of that .094 sec....I don't doubt that nobody has noticed, visually or through feel, that sort of flex. Also, if I am not mistaken, an angle other than straight on (square) would reduce the amount of flex seen (would be a compound I really hope my math isn't wrong....
-
I just watched video of the three swings mentioned. Same amount of flex in each swing...just as shown in the stills. There is even about an inch or two of flex while taking off in the backswing. Quite impressive!

At this point in the season, I am working on my iron play. So far this season, I have been getting off the tee great (yardage, launch, consistancy, controlled) and my play around the green has been well above normal. In between is where I am lacking (along with putting but that has been mostly due to greens conditions at this point in the season) Primarily working on hitting my new irons: Accurate ball striking Gaining yardage Stop digging Slightly lower ball flight would be great....coming in too steep (I think)

Seriously? What more does he need to do? Swing the club for them? Why does he need to do anything at all? Nice entitlement attitude. Give me a break.
