One of the main commentators on the European Tour for the Golf Channel is a Scottish guy called Dougie Donnelly! I am from England but now over in the States and I love listening to his coverage along with the other announcers! In my eyes, the presentation of the event is essential although at the end of the day, as an avid golf fan I would pretty much watch any sort of golf whatever announcers were present!

I would definitely concur with the opinion that Stenson has been the best player in the world over the last month, maybe longer!! His all around game is excellent, he has no real weaknesses and is clutch at the death when he needs to be!! Definitely a player to watch out for next season!!

This young lad is a class act - he turned pro off a handicap of +6 which in anyone's world is pretty phenomenal!! He has already shot up the world rankings and is currently inside the top 50, or at least he was the last time I checked and potentially facing the prospect of playing in the Masters in April!! Keep an eye on this young lad because he can go right to the top very quickly!!

What an amazing round of golf today from Harrison Frazar - 59!! He played an almost perfect round of golf and just looked so relaxed and comfortable out there!! Almost shot 58 to match Shigeki Maruyama's at a US Open qualifier a few years ago but his putt on 18 slipped by the hole!! Congratulations Harrison, remarkable round of golf and pretty much guaranteed your Tour Card for next year!!

Giants may well go on and win again but I have a little feeling the Steelers may go on and win the Superbowl this year!!
-
Loving the fact that Stenson is dominating this tournament - this guy is a class act!! Nice to see Karlsson up at the top as well, Scandinavian golfers seem to have the attitude that may well see them dominate in the future!!

I am a one handicap golfer who for the majority of my career have played with a draw and tended to 'whip the club inside' on the takeaway! However, over the last 18 months I have changed this to attempt to straighten the ball flight and surprise, surprise I have over done this and I now have the problem of taking the club way too far outside the line! When I am swinging solid I play with a nice fade but sometimes when I am struggling I have a tendency to come over the top and pull it straight left or lose it way right! Is there something that anyone would advise to get that swing path a little more consistent - obviously, I don't want to go back to the old habits of coming way inside the line! Any drills that you know about would be greatly appreciated? I am not in a desperate situation because I am still striking the ball solid but I just thought I would see what everyone else's opinion was! Thanks guys!

I have always preferred playing in the afternoon but I have performed good teeing off early in the morning! I think it is all psychological and the weather certainly has a major influence! Rain, cold, windy - I certainly don't want to be getting out of bed early so I would rather give it a chance to improve later in the day!!

I don't think many would have predicted Sean O'Hair to come out victorious at the PODS this last weekend but well done to the lad because he played a really solid tournament, especially the final round where everyone else at the top of the leaderboard fell away. Stewart Cink will be kicking himself after this one - ok, he was well and truly destroyed by Tiger at the matchplay and he will be the first to admit that he was able to take a lot of positives out of that week. He carried this over for the first three rounds at the PODS but them capitulated in the final round, kinda blew it really! Without Tiger, Phil or Vijay this was a great opportunity for Cink to break his duck but he choked at the death in all reality!

If it is true that Isenhour was intentionally hitting balls at the bird and trying to harm or kill it, then he deserves everything he gets thrown at him! It is absolutely disgusting to read on ESPN what he did, the hawk was doing him no harm - it is an endangered species and was obviously in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it was not aware of that! Absolutely disgusted by the event!

Ernie Els moves into 3rd in the World Rankings
boothyuk123 replied to Chilidipper's topic in Tour Talk
I think that Ernie certainly has the game to overtake Phil at number two and would not be surprised if he does that this year - whether he can ever get to the level of Tiger is highly unlikely! Good to see the Big Easy back on form again though!! -
Any golfers you feel will make huge strides this year?
boothyuk123 replied to Chilidipper's topic in Tour Talk
I would love to be able to echo those sentiments that Montgomerie will win a Major this year but unfortunately it is not going to happen! There is more chance of Tiger going on a perfect season! -
Congratulations to Brian Gay on an excellent victory - ok, so it wasn't the strongest field assembled but he still had to beat the guys out there! I am sure this will do his confidence a world of good and will hope to continue this rich vein of form in subsequent events!

Hole 12 - Tiger is just looking way too ominous right now for Cink!

Can you break 100 at Torrey Pines in US Open setup?
boothyuk123 replied to seattlemudder's topic in Golf Talk
I believe I could break 100 around Torrey Pines any time, I am not saying it would be easy but I would just try and remain solid - keep the ball in play and on occasions where bogey was the only option, accept it and move on to the next hole! My putting is the best part of my game and I am generally a pretty accurate player so I think I could achieve the below 100 status - at least I HOPE i could! -
It is going to be an excellent final between Woods and Cink - clearly the two in form players at the tournament. Cink has really beat some excellent matchplay players and will not be easy for Woods tomorrow - in this afternoon's match against Justin Leonard, Cink was 7 under for the first 8 holes - ok, so this is slightly different to strokeplay but it is still pretty impressive scoring! Woods is going to be strong favorite tomorrow clearly but I think it is going to be a very exciting 36 holes! This is definitely a tournament that I always look forward to and this year has lived up to my expectations! Just a little note on Henrik Stenson who put up a valiant defence of his trophy from 12 months ago - I just hope he can continue this form into the rest of the season because last year after winning he kind of fell away a little! Woods - THE MAN TO BEAT!

Walking and carrying is without doubt the best option - I think it is part of the golfing experience, provides excellent exercise and gives you the true meaning of playing a round of golf!

The Biggest Record in Sports--within Tigers Grasp
boothyuk123 replied to r7 425's topic in Tour Talk
Realistically it is just too difficult in this wonderful game to go undefeated throughout the season, especially if you are playing a schedule that Tiger is obviously planning on. This could quite easily be Tiger's best year and most successful to date, in terms of number of victories but undefeated - highly unlikely. However, if there is anyone that could ever achieve this improbably feat, Tiger is the man with the potential to achieve this. Lets just sit back and enjoy the Master at work - who knows substantial sporting history may well be in the making over the coming months - never say never, Tiger doesn't! -
All of Bob Rotella's books are excellent for the mental aspects of the game. I frequently look over them to get myself into a positive frame of mind! Definitely highly recommended!

Well done JB Holmes, that was a pretty clutch finish to hole that putt on 18 to take the tournament into a playoff. He absolutely crushed that drive on the playoff hole and it an excellent approach before calmly slotting home that winning putt! An excellent way to win the tournament, congratulations on your second win JB Holmes!!

It was a pretty phenomenal performance by the Giants! I absolutely hate the Patriots and especially Brady and Belichick. They are such sore losers and it would have been an absolute travesty had the Giants not won that game. They dominated in terms of possession and really looked like they wanted the win more than the Patriots. Personally I thought it was an amazing game winning drive up the field, especially that one moment when Eli escaped from being sacked and David Tyree somehow managed to grasp the ball from mid-air. Unbelievable performance from the Giants - congratulations you are the Superbowl Champions!! Unlucky Patriots LOL - your season will be remembered not for an 18-1 record but for choking at the more crucial part of the season!

There are a lot of kids that come out here from England with totally the wrong attitude - they believe they are coming out here solely to play golf! If you are expecting that, then college golf is not for you! You have to be willing to put the effort in academically, you have classes generally every morning until lunch and then the afternoon is spent on the golf course/range. I came out here in August 2006, and went through proDreamUSA starting in November 2005 so it really didnt take that long for me to get my offer from my Coach in Feb 2006 I think. I am not sure why the coaches told you that recruitment companies don't really work, I have first hand experience that a lot of coaches actually take a lot of notice of what Lorne has to tell them about the kids he is sending over. He has an excellent reputation over here in the States and believe me it is certainly the best way to get yourself out here and placed at an appropriate level. Maybe your handicap is a little high right now but you can work on that - you have to be able to prove that you are capable of producing the scores that matter and when it counts. Handicaps are not used out here in college golf so it really doesn't matter once you have been placed, all coaches are interested in are the quality scores you can produce and ensuring you are willing to put in the effort. If you fit this category, and are academically strong enough to cope with the day to day workload then you will enjoy it out here. I came out here with a friend who went to a college in Kentucky but he went home after just 2 weeks, claiming that the standard was not what he expected. In fact, I actually found out it was because he wasn't able to cope with the work and just expected it to be pure golf. Unfortunately, if this is the impression that kids back in England are getting, it is far from the truth! I don't want to put you off at all, I am just giving my honest opinion because I am currently enjoying it out here so much! Let me know if you want to know anything else!

24.... took up golf at the age of 15, never looked back since!!! Amazing game!!

That is an absolute classic comment - good job Tiger! Excellent comeback today, you proved my predictions right when I said he WILL win the tournament! What an amazing back nine, 31, WOW this guy is something special. Credit to Martin Kaymer who never gave up, finished eagle, birdie, birdie to jump into second spot and also to Ernie who needed eagle on 18 to win outright and went for it by going for the green. Tiger - congratulations, yet another win for you!!!
