  1. hey guys, sorry about the kind of short notice, but i'm not going to be able to make it to the outing this year....
  2. Well, i had chosen the 16 handicap.. And after reading the first page, i would have thought the 16, would have had the best chance.. But after reading other pages, and then realizing he's not even a true 16 handicap... And we don't know what his drive or mental game is to improve... i feel like it's a suckers bet. See i fell like this is how i am with my brother when we play.. He varies from a 12 to 20 handicap ( i've been 30+ handicap to low 20s ) i've seen him play MSU's Forest Akers West and shoot a 81.. he's also had years when he didn't play a lot and his handicap went up.. But anytime we would play, especially since 2008 or so, the closest i came was within 10 strokes and that was on a pretty easy course. But if i took some lessons on a regular basis ( mainly to work on my driver ) i'm sure i'd eventually beat him at least once
  3. I'm in for both saturday and sunday...... And i'll need a room for saturday night, i can room with someone too
  4. I'm down for whatever!!!!! And I'd love to play the course we played on Sunday (again) ,,, i thought it was a lot nicer than the saturday course... Oh and a course that has a legit driving range lol opps only weekend i can't play is July 4th weekend, i'll be at a wedding
  5. Well when i get everything sometime this week, I'll have a 3,4,5,6 hybrid in Rogue ST Max OS, i originally just had a 3 and 4 and then went 6 thru wedges in irons.. But rarely did i ever use my 6 iron, because i just never did seem to be able to hit it well. I did ditch my 5 wood, since I rarely did use it. Usually I only try to use my 3 wood when i'm teeing it up too, i'm just too hot n cold with it off the deck.
  6. these two hybrids ( 5&6 ) I mean, i thought i hit my Cleveland 3&4 hybrid's decent. But these Callaway's are unreal. When I'm getting the same distance from using less club it literally has me giddy as can be.
  7. Ok, so a week ago, i picked up a 5 hybrid, since i had been thinking about it... mainly it was because my current set of iron's, i just dont hit the 5 iron and 6 iron that great ( Cobra LTDx One length ) I have been playing 3 and 4 cleveland hybrids for a while now and liked them. But after hitting the 5 hybrid from Callaway, i was blown away at the distance i was getting and how easy it was to hit the ball. I mean it literally feels like cheating lol. Well after buying a matching 3 and 4 hybrid off of Ebay, i was also looking for a 6 hybrid, and found one at the Golfing Store i visit on a regular basis... it literally was hiding in ( last one they had) plain sight and the guy helping me found it lol... And no lie, the distance i get with those two clubs is laughable lol.. But i feel like it's going to fill in those gaps.. Plus having the 3 and 4 hybrids will give me more distance when i was normally trying to use my 3 or 5 wood.. So who else has used these and what are your thoughts?
  8. Well, since my last post, i actually had an epiphany after a round of golf and heading to the driving range, i changed my driver head to the "up right lie" angle, and wow it has made a difference. I have even thought about going to a heavier shaft, something in the 80g range. today i did try using my Hazardous Smoke 70g stiff shaft ( 3 wood length ) as my driver shaft and it felt pretty damn good. I did look at the original Tensi shaft on my driver and it's only a 60g (stiff ) weight. But, also in this change, i put the 3wood head on a 5wood shaft, same shaft too, and that actually made hitting my 3wood off the deck really easy.. I'll give an update sunday night after i get home from golfing that morning.
  9. Let the guys wear shorts get rid of the "ball finding marshals" have a tiered rough length, first cut would be 1 1/2 inches deep and is 2 yards wide, 2nd cut would be 3 inches deep and 2 yards wide, and 3rd cut would be the rest of the rough and would be at least 6 inches deep Also all the players would be mic'd up with their caddies so we can hear what they are saying
  10. when i first watched this video and her rant.... I said, something like I can see why her husband wants to go golfing all the time...... it's to get away from that kind of negativity
  11. I honestly do not know.. i know my average swing speed on my driver is about 95mph So a went golfing today and used the 5wood shaft.... Now i will say i today was probably the worst i've golfed all season lol, it was so awful that i stopped keeping score. Now this is what tended to happen when teeing off..... I'd hit the worst shot ever, top it, shank, slice, you name it, it happened... I'd tee up a second ball and smoke it down the middle of the fairway lol.... I did have a couple good Tee shots with the driver, so it wasn't a complete loss. on the back 9, i did change the loft ( up ) 1 notch , to close the face a smidge and to give me a lil bit more loft. and it did seem to straighten out my shots a bit.. but i still had a bunch of awful tee shots with the driver lol... I think one of the biggest things i need to keep in mind is to not have the ball so far forward, and that it needs to be more like a 3wood shot
  12. So i do use the Cobra One Length LTDx Irons and love them!! I will say i had thought about doing something similar with my driver and 3 wood, just having them be the same length, be it a 3 wood length or 5 wood length. I did try out the Cobra one length hybrid, but it felt way too short.. and the club head looks so tiny vs my cleveland hybrids. I will say with the shorter driver shaft, my swing feels better. I still have those misses , but i'm working on eliminating them. Now I can't say if i'm losing any distance, since i'm not consistent enough with my driver.. But i'm sure i'll lose distance on the drives when you really hit it pure.
  13. So after struggling with my driver off and on for what seems to be forever, I picked up a 5 wood shaft, hazardous smoke stuff and put my driver head on it.. Initial thoughts wow it was so easy to swing !! I still had some typical misses.. But for a fairway finder .. wow I felt like I had a lot more confidence swinging the driver... I've never been a long hitter, and always have struggled with consistently putting my drives in the fairway... Has anyone else went that short for a driver shaft?? What was your results?? I know using a 3 wood shaft is typical for trying to be more consistent...
  14. I'd go with a hybrid, look into one of the Cleveland xl launcher hybrids, they are so easy to hit... I tend to hit them easier than my 3 wood.... I have the 3 hy-wood, 3 hybrid and 4 hybrid.. I've been looking into maybe a 5 wood or 7 wood, but I keep on sticking with the hybrids
  15. Well you could always start with the G430 GW and see how you like it.... plus it will be more forgiving on off hits vs the Vokey. If you end up not liking the G430 GW, you could always get a Vokey afterwards.
  16. This one isn't so much of a dress code issue.. I mean obviously most guys wear a polo shirt.. heck i could care less if you are wearing a wife beater or tank top... And it's not even the issue of wearing basketball shorts.. But don't be playing the whole round with your ass showing... literally i played a round a few weeks ago, and got paired up with 2 guys, and one guy literally had his basketball shorts hanging off his ass.. it was literally a full moon out on a sunny day
  17. Douche-poodle is another appropriate term for F***tards
  18. I don't use shotscope or arccos, i do know my distances LOL and not what i think i'm hitting them. The weird thing is last weekend i was swinging a Taylormade 5 wood Sim Titanium and on the simulator i was hitting it about 220+ which blew me away.. cuz i usually hit my 3wood about that far ( unless i crush it ) I did put my 5 iron back in the bag for now... but it's my first club that i'm ditching just because it's the same loft as my 4 hybrid and i don't hit it as well as my 4 hybrid. I had thought about a 5 hybrid, but i some times feel like it would just be over lapping with the same distances. I've tried 60 degree wedges and it's never a good outcome lol.. i do like my 56 wedge and can always open up the face on it.
  19. I'm single, so no Wife yelling at me that i play golf too much or that i have too many golf clubs in the corner of the den. 🤣 I had thought about it, but usually if it's a tight fairway, and depending on how i'm hitting the ball i either swing my 3wood or 3 hybrid.
  20. So after tinkering with my bag setup, I have 13 clubs in the bag... No real gapping issues with clubs either... Driver , 3 wood, 3 & 4 hybrid and then 6 thru pw cobra one length irons, then 48, 52, 56 one length snakebite wedges. I did drop the 5iron since I didn't hit it any farther than my 6iron. I'm thinking possibly a 7 wood?? Since I'm good on the low range of my bag
  21. So Friday I went to East Lansing, Michigan to play Forest Akers West with my brother.... well we get there and they had an outing that morning and my brother is like wait, i have the confirmation email right here.... ( they scheduled ) it for saturday lol.. So we ended up playing Forest Akers East and College Field. Now Akers East for the $, i thought was nice, still a bit challenging, but not terribly hard... my swing was wonky all day long so that didn't help at all. And I shot a even 100 lol ( had 3 lost balls too). my brother being the punk that he is, shot an 81 so off to College Field , and everyone knows that Friday was hotter than the devils sauna.. And a few Long Drink beer's later and we are both cooled off and refreshed... the course is nice!! kinda open, but still had challenges and houses lined the course, so there was OB everywhere. I ended up shooting a 95 ( had another 3 lost balls ) Oh and at the turn the Ranger at College Field was handing out cooling towels to take with you on the back 9. which was nice, because we'd just dip them in our ice bag to keep the towels cold.
  22. It was Pigeon Creek in the West Olive / North Holland area.. I had known about the course for a while but finally got around to playing it.. And wow i was surprised, such a nice course! the carts had GPS/ hole layouts / radio / score keeper / weather on the screen. The course was challenging with Water and heather rough, but fun! fairways was fast and the greens fast and firm. plus the course is building what looks like a area for parties and weddings
  23. I went from playing Maxfli Softfli's to playing the Kirkland... I have a dozen of the old U/6 low compressions, and probably a dozen of the old U/3's and probably a dozen of the StraightFli's and SpeedFli's.. I honestly can't say if i noticed a distance difference with the any of the Maxfli's. my only comparison is when i'm out playing a round with other people. And I never feel like i'm at a disadvantage when it comes to distance, it's usually me not hitting the ball well or someone else just having a faster swing speed. I do like the value Kirkland ball, and it always seems like when i try to play a ProV1 or something, i end up losing the ball right away.
  24. I can actually admit that today i was pair with two guys who I will refer to as Douche-poodle 1 and 2 aka DP1 and 2 So while my playing partner does try, i can't remember the last time he actually kept score of his rounds lol... I keep score of my rounds for sanity and to see my progress.. Well today we are playing a course we've never played before and we get paired up with these two guys... so first off, I notice DP1 has basketball shorts on, not that i care... but his ass was out the whole day. and to say he sucked at golf was an understatement... I realize we all are far from great, but this guy could barely hit the ball off the Tee Box... and when he did, he'd always be like ohhhhh damn i dont know why i'm not playing good today or something like he just missed that one. And not going to lie, i wasn't sure if the guy was drunk or on something. And DP2 was slightly better, and could actually get the ball off the tee box. Now the course we played was actually really decent, the carts had screens with hole locations and yardage and radio and weather updates. it also showed if you was keeping up the pace of play.. and by the end of the day we was 30 minutes behind the pace of play, with nobody in front of us. The final straw and thankfully i didn't completely lose my shit, we are on the 16th hole and DP2 has his ball near mine, and shanks one into the water lol... I get out of the cart to walk over to my ball and my playing partner yells "watch out!!!! " and DP 2 had dropped another ball and hit the ball literally at me... it was so close it grazed my arm... and you'd think DP2 would apologize.... but nope not a damn thing.
  25. Just got done playing a course I've never played before and shot a 91 with 4 lost balls... So I was pleasantly surprised
