I love these threads. Yes, people hit 300+ and post on the internet with horrible handicaps. You dont need to be a low handicap to crush a drive. Just be happy that you can shoot your low 80' high 70's and leave your jealousy at the first tee box please.

Teaching the gf/wife to golf is blasphemy. All the older guys I see golfing with their sig others look miserable.

Just buy Pings...you can shoot them an email with the serial # and they let you know if they're legit.

Its more related to how you hit the ball and at what angle.

This is the first place I heard of. Its right along the ocean so the ground tends not to freeze.

First rd of the year Front 9: 50 Back 9: 38 Had some lead time on the front getting used to some new clubs. Everything worked out on the back as you can see. This is my first year getting serious with golf so I dont see how shooting in the 30's for 9 cant become commonplace.

all carry? Sounds like the ball is rolling up the face. New MOI drivers need to be hit with an ascending blow, move the ball to the inside of your lead foot.

Heres a tip, try taking anger management if the internet really gets you upset.

We played Montaup in Rhode Island. Front 9 was a disaster for sure. Took me a few holes to get used to the new driver. Did drive consistent over 300 yards total and drove one 350 with a tail wind on a 370 yard hole. Shot a 50 on the front 9, and a 38 on the back 9. 1 bogey and 1 double bogey on the back nine. Im happy with the way the back ended my round for the first of the year.

We have some decent enough weather to hit the courses this week in the North East. Off season rates are where its at. Anyone else in the NE get a round in yet?

Like I said earlier, and this post speaks volumes. I think a lot of the reason behind people calling BS on long drives stems from jealousy.

I dont know what to tell you. Ive had a club in my hands since 10 but growing up I was a 3 sport athlete in HS which didnt include golf and I played football in college. So golf really took second fiddle growing up (re: the high handicap). Now Im 24 and getting serious about lowering my handicap since all I could do growing up was drive. Im 6'2'' and weigh 205 with a muscular build so building momentum and swing speed isn't a problem for me. I usually just hit Top-Flite 2000's because I wasnt really into the game and just used whatever was cheap so that might be another factor in my deep hits, but it could be moot. Like I said I was at a golfers warehouse a few weeks ago and had a radar behind the ball and my consistent swing was 121 mph . I dont see how its so unconceivable that someone with my size can generate that clubhead speed. It looks like the only people who feel that people lie about carry and swing speed are jealous. I have a high handicap because I only get out maybe 5-10 times a year. So the short game lacks obviously. I have a swing speed of 121 and have a deep carry. Ive driven over the green on 290 yard holes. If anyone doubts me in SE mass Ill gladly show you.

At least you got to hit at a pin rather than a yard marker.

I hit for the first time with a radar behind my club and my average swing was 121. I use a 10.5* TM burner with a regular shaft and it will carry in the 290's. I think im really doing myself a disservice using that driver with a high degree and shaft with a lot of whip for my speed.

Well I went to a Golfers Warehouse to test out all the pings to find out what dot and length would work best for me. Ended up being the green dots with standard length. So in my bad now is a set of Ping i5's green dots. I can just just from setting up with them they are going to work nice with my swing. Cant wait to hit them off some grass. Quick sidenote was that my club head speed with the driver was a consistent 121. I over-swung once and pulled a 123 and the driver made the loudest ping noise that my ears were ringing.
