For all you low handicappers
joseywales replied to Boeing777's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Find a reputable teacher. Do only what he says. Stop reading golf magazines other than entertainment value only. (This will cut down on the millions of different quick fixes that golf magazines put out to confuse you and trick you into thinking there are shortcuts to getting better). Ultimately, the best way to get better faster is to stick with one theory from a reputable teacher and groove the theories that he is teaching you by hitting a consistent regiment of balls as much as you can. God speed and God bless! -
If you want to make people jealous, buy the cameron. If you want to make more putts, buy the Odyssey.

If Sam Adams wasn't such a weight-gainer I would drink it for every meal.

Fairway wood with a small head
joseywales replied to aca247's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just reshafted my old Cleveland Launcher with a V2 shaft and it made a big difference. Alot straighter and more length while still maintaining the look and feel of the smaller head. -
v2 for sure. Best shaft for the money. A very stable shaft for the bigger head drivers. Can't go wrong with a v2.

Vokey Spin Milled- Harsh Feel?
joseywales replied to swinger77's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I love Titleist irons but don't care for Vokey wedges. Way too clunky and and not very much feel. They are the best spinning wedge out there but there is more to a wedge than just spin. If you are just looking for spin, just get a $20 groove scraper and clean them out every once in a while. To each his own but imo Cleveland's are the best balanced, most versatile wedges out there. -
I tested the vokey's and cg15's side by side and for me there was no comparison. I found the vokeys way too clunky and hard to hit. I either hit them too heavy or too thin. The cg15's for me are an all around better wedge. Better balanced and consistently produce crisper contact around the green and from the fairway. The cg15's have taken some off of the toe so it's easier to open it up around the green for delicate flop shots as well. The one thing that vokeys have over clevelands by far is the spin factor. If you are looking for alot more spin and that is your main criteria for buying new wedges, then absolutely get the vokeys.

Planning a trip to Sedona, AZ in June and am trying to play a couple of times during the week. I saw a couple of really nice courses for around $100/each and wondered if anyone has played them. Any thoughts on really nice public courses in the area? Thanks.

I bought the sg5 this summer and sold it a month later. Don't get me wrong...it was really cool and more of a toy than anything. The only problem is that for me, it was great on courses that I didn't play very often. On my home course, it did more harm than good. I am used to just hitting what I have all my life on the course I am most familiar with. The greatest advantage was under 100 yards where there is no marker to get yardage from. On the full shots, I found that I would talk myself into and out of bad shot decisions because I had too much information. The biggest thing I didn't like about it was that it took alot of the fun out of the game. Being able to decide on what type of shot to hit after deciding on the correct yardage on your own is alot of what makes golf fun for me. It was a really cool toy though with all of that being said.

Looks like mexas tech got exposed away from home like I thought. Guess the guy from tech will have to be glad they played mexas at home.

Don't get too excited about the dirtburglers. After the sooners hammer the fighting yosemite sam's in norman, the sandfleas will crawl back to their holes and watch their head coach's Vince Gill look-alike be stolen away to a real school with actual money. Thanks and good night.

My Cowboys will beat the dirtburglers this Saturday night in Lubbock and eventually move on to hammer the landthieves in Stillwater eventually moving them into the top 2. Mexas will lose to the Aggies during Thanksgiving. Bama will lose in the SEC championship and the landthieves will beat the dirtburgulars in norman. Thank you and good night. Go Pokes!

When I was a junior in high school I walked 61 holes in one day on the longest day of the year. Started at the crack of dawn and played till I could not see the ball anymore.

For me it was my fellow O-Stater Hunter Mahan's bomb on 17. THE biggest and longest putt of the singles matches. Plus, it was late and filled with drama.

Playing in first tournament - anything I should know?

Drink a beer on the range before you tee off to settle your nerves and try to make as many birdies as possible. Good luck! -
Hey guys, I own a printer supply company and whenever this topic comes up, I always give the same response. Always buy HP for several reasons. First, you can always find supplies either new or compatible. Second, you can always find someone to work on them because most people are trained in HP maintenance. Third, the quality of HP is easily better than any of the other companies out there. I constantly switch people from new HP to compatibles all the time and save them over half the price of new ones. From my experience, the worst printers and supply cost gouging you can encounter are from Brother, Lexmark and smaller ones like Okidata. HP makes some multifunction printers that are great. They are making the color laser printers so quickly these days, it's kind of like last years golf clubs. If you buy last years model, you can save some serious coin. That's all I have. Good night.

Karsten Creek is great but bring your wallet. I think it's over 3 bills now to play it. Southern Hills is private so good luck on that one. The best way to go is get onto www.golfnow.com and check the discounted tee times for the Enid area. It's a great to play for about half price on some really decent courses. Oh, and bring your windbreaker.

I will play w/anyone as long as they aren't too serious or get too mad and like to play moderately fast. What I can't stand is someone who is a 30, takes it way too seriously and has like 4 practice swings for every shot like the Masters is on the line. Relax and hit the ball already.

In our 36 hole championship, I got off to a bad start and shot 73 the first day so I had some ground to make up. The next day, I was 2 under going into #10 and tripled it. I ended up shooting 71 and lost by 3. I hate that friggin' hole. Ended up getting 5th.

I tried it for a couple of months and didn't like it. It seemed to make my putter a little off balance and top heavy. I took it off and went back to a normal small grip and everything feels normal again.
