  1. The top 2 or 3 versions of Razr were pretty nice. A buddy has the Razr X forged (similar to the older X forged but with straighter lines like a Triumph TR7) and they look and feel great. I'm sure the MBs were awesome too. It's all those other versions that were awful. Like almost the entire Diablo line.
  2. I think the "z" is a disclaimer that they have no affiliation with blades or rockets. Like Cheez Whiz.
  3. I can find probably 100 threads outlining the number one reason decent players try to play more rushed. Their group is either on the clock or someone in the group is bogging the whole lot of them down. The more mililtant the rangers and starters (etc) are the more likely someone will be rushing their shots. The better player(s) are often (not always - no need to flame me all you high handicapper rabbits out there) most aware of where their group stands relative to other groups and their overall pace of play. I'd be shocked if good players on busy courses didn't find themselves rushing a few shots over the course of 18 holes. If they don't, then they're probably seen as part of the problem. It's often not enough to be playing more quickly when the group slows down, which someone taking fewer shots theoretically should be able to do, they have to be seen as playing quicker. Fewer practice swings, less attention to detail, no second guessing, these are all noticable to a ranger hiding in the trees somewhere. We've all seen it.
  4. Coordination or doing things in the proper sequence? I know a guy who can juggle and bounce a ball off the face of his 62 degree wedge all day, but hits his driver where I hit my 3-iron. I can't juggle (never really practice it though) and am somewhat likely to hit myself in the face when I bounce a ball off a LW.
  5. What is the general skill level, time taken per shot, time travelling between shots, and size of group in both regions. There might be courses where the rounds are similar length but I'd gues it generally takes longer for more people per group to take more time per shot over more shots with more time spent between shots whether that is wasted time or time built in by poor course design. Little by litte a group of 3 efficient walkers who are familiar with a course and know how to keep a ball in play will play quicker. Who in their right mind would want to dilly dally in a Scottish links course anyway? I've seen the photos of the Open and currently on the homepage (dating my post right now) and I'd want to be off a links course and in the pub as quickly as possible!!!
  6. Play more competitive rounds or don't bother carrying an index at all. You didn't bold the next part where I also called out people who carry vanity handicaps. They're often the biggest whiners abour the sandbaggers. Hey, I've been there myself when playing with guys who insisted on knocking every lag putt within 4 feet back to me. Now I putt them out unless they're in a match play round.
  7. I see a few sandbaggers in our league and they do very well in our tournaments, but for others it's just a matter of focus. I knwo people who get embarassed or self conscious if they're seen trying to grind out the best score on hole and giving every shot 100% effort during casual rounds so they just go through the motions and play each shot as quickly as they can. I have a couple friends exactly like that. Then during league play or tournaments they grind like crazy for the entire round. They shoot a couple strokes better while the habitual gimme and mulligan crowd shoot a couple strokes worse (at least).
  8. They should rename "Luke Donald disease", "Charles Howell disease" or just "CHIII". The guy seems to always cash a cheque but has a reputation as a phenomenal choker. Maybe too much tinkering with his swing and bag setup. Seems more interested pandering to the peanut gallery at golfwrx than shooting low scores on Sundays.
  9. Anyone buying these who is gullible enough to think they're buying blades probably won't care what the polymer insert does over time because they'll be getting suckered into something else long before it's an issue. Anytime I see a commercial with "Dustin Johnson demonstrating the new . . . " I change the channel.
  10. A, B, and D for handicap.
  11. Okay, so now we can forget what a divot with a few days of water is like to play off. I suggested to the thread starter that maybe a freshly replaced divot was not necessarily better. Maybe. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't. I've seen some poorly replaced divots at the ~ 3/4" depth and often they shouldn't have been replaced at all. He seems to struggle from sand (chose a layup over a greenside bunker) so it's doubtful he'd relish a shot from a sand filled divot in the fairway. Maybe. For all I know he'd love it. Then I suggested a couple things for him to consider next time. I carefully sidestepped his real beef - he was obviously suggesting a free drop from the divot hole was warranted. No way on that one.
  12. Sorry I shouldn't have taken the bait. We're speaking a different language I suppose and I'll leave it at that.
  13. Not sure if you're serious, or just didn't read what I posted.
  14. Why didn't you just ask for clarification with words instead of posting that picture. I'm guessing you were waiting for an opportunity to post it and don't really care what I was saying. And whatever your motivation for posting it is what I'm saying people don't care about. I'd wager that my statement is fairly accurate. end hijack /
  15. Would playing off a freshly replaced chunk of sod and roots or some sand that might be 3/4" deep or 3" deep be better than an empty divot? Maybe not. Next time ask yourself whether you'd rather risk putting that 5 in a greenside bunker or risk getting a poor lie in the popular layup position.
  16. I just checked and it seems I wasn't responding to you so it turns out nobody cares what you don't understand.
  17. 3, 5, 7, 9, putter, and 3-wood. The 9-iron flop shot is a lost art.
  18. What the heck? I've seen a couple single digit handicappers who averaged just below 250 but to read this forum you'd think that was the norm and that people playing off 10 or less and averaging > 250 yards (with a DRIVER!!!) were the minority. Most single digit players I played with when I started were hitting > 250 wooden clubs. And they were 3-woods. When did golfers become so soft and weak. Seriously. Even I was questioning a guy claiming 125 mph as if it's like hitting 100 home runs in a major league season. Maybe he does swing that fast. And maybe a lot of other guys around here do too, but we don't get our swing's and ideal ball flight mapped out before buying a golf club. Our bad!!
  19. Just a guess but I'd say you're swinging at about 107 to 112 there. Maybe less maybe more, but about the same at the thread starter with better impact.
  20. Not all mats are the same. Some do a pretty good job of simulating shots off turf, but when you say "having a hard time hitting off grass" you really mean "having a hard time golfing". Two weeks (your scheduled lessons) is nothing so what's the panic?
  21. I'm not sure I need to hit a driver any further and doubt I could without a leap in technology. I swing pretty hard with a driver in my hand and always have. I'd sure like shorter first putts though, so I'll be working on wedge accuracy next season. I get streaky and knock down flags then find myself in the next round flying the ball 20 paces over the flag. Maybe driving shorter and leaving myself a 6 or 7-iron would be a good thing!!!
  22. Leaving my 3-wood, 4, 5, 6, 9 iron, and LW at home home I could carry my really small golf bag 36 holes instead of the bigger one for 18.
