I hated the D2 Feel, at least at a Mile High it seemed I couldn't feel anything. I've got 3 sleeves left for those interested. -
Removing old tape when replacing grips
n3xt replied to rstyle's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I sure hope you have better luck with that tool than I did. The steel on the one I bought obviously wasn't tempered and the edges curled up like little girl curls. I ended up using a razor blade and didn't cut myself up too bad doing 13 clubs. I will probably go the industrial hair dryer like heater route next time with some non-flammable solvent. -
Daddy, Tom Bacon Custom Designs in Mesa, AZ sells personalized silver or gold markers for a pretty good price if you don't lose them often. I don't have a seb site, but they can be reached at (806) 283-1978. My gold markers were $8 each and he can do pretty much any customization. Tom and his wife were great to do business with when I was down there.

A buddy of mine went there last year and got fitted from Driver to Lob Wedge. He loved the experience, for $150 he got some free stuff, balls and a hat I believe, and $100 bucks off whatever he ordered. Their testing of full shots at least had 2 additional stats that they were able to measure that the average shop isn't able to do. His HC has gone down, and he loves the clubs. they happen to mostly be the same as mine, but he got the graphite shafts vs the steel that I play with. He talks about it almost every time he plays it was such a good time. Have fun.

Until you get them a reasonable facsimile of a Handicap Index, The USGA puts out a nifty little pamphlet entitled Handicapping the UnHandicapped for 75 cents or a $1.00 which gives several methods which you can take into consideration. However, if they are having trouble beating the slope, they might have a 36.4 (max) handicap Index that you can use to determine a valid course handicap and assign strokes appropriately. Also note that when you give strokes, you give them based on the Handicap numbers indicated on the scorecard which takes into account easy vs hard holes on each 9. Hope that helps. N3XT

From the USGA Handicap System book, section 5.1.a "If 13 or more holes are played, the player shall post an 18-hole score. If 7 to 12 holes are played, the player shall post a nine-hole score." As for strokes to record... from section 4.1 "If a player starts but does not complete a hole or is conceded a stroke, that player shall record for handicap purposes the score he most likely would have made. The most likely score consists of the number of strokes taken plus, in the player's best judgement, the number of strokes that the player would need to complete the hole from that position more than half the time. This number may not exceed the player's Equitable Stroke Control limit, defined in section 4.3. This most likely score should be preceded by an "X". There is no limit to the number of unfinished holes a player may have in a round provided that failure to finish is not for the purpose of handicap manipulation." Note that if you have issues with another person's handicap, you should, at the very least, voice your concerns to a member of the handicap committee. The committee has the duty and responsibility as noted in Section 8 of the Handicap system manual to examine results of competitions and take appropriate action as defined in sections 8.4 and 10.3. As a member, it is your duty to know the rules of golf, know the rules of the USGA handicap system, and hold the officers of your club accountable. And if they won't be accountable, run against them in the next election. You'll know then if your feelings are just yours, or are shared by others. Oh, and don't hesitate to point the handicap chairman to The Pope of Slope website noted elsewhere in these postings for how to make your future competitions more fair by instituting a version of the 'Knuth Tournament Point System' it makes sure that no one person dominates the competitions over multiple years. And don't forget that you play this game not to make money, but to have fun first, develop relationships with your fellow golfers second, and to make some money that you can share with your fellow golfers third.

Check out 'Get Yourself in Golf Shape' by Cindy Reid. Utilizes some weights, and will build the foundation that you will need to begin supersetting in the way that Tiger is. The biggest problem for many will be going directly to Tiger's routine without building the proper foundation.

For me, on these cold Colorado days, is to listen in on the XM satellite coverage of the PGA tour on www.pgatour.com The coverage is gratis, and no special equipment necessary. Just a broadband connection and I'm in Palm Harbor....

g-funk, if you did an origianl golf interpretation to I think is was a song from Oklahoma, then your video made it to a web page on Golf Digest. Some of the submitted videos were excellent. The singer, whether or not it was you, stood out to say the least. I didn't make the 5%, but I didn't really think I would either. Good Luck Finn!

I agree, the eyebrows need some work, but what was with the skull and crossbones thing going on during the final round of The Fields? Is she dating Sabbatini or something? Totally out of character for her, though I suppose it could have spooked JJ enough....

Here's my position on the Golf Mags I get. Golf Digest - Great Monthly publication with good balance between features and instruction. Golf Magazine - OK Monthly publication but a little heavy on the instruction for my taste. Golf Tips Magazine - Least favorite of the monthlies and I'm not renewing. Not enough detail in the tips and it's pretty much all tips and equipment. Golf World - I get this weekly publication each Wednesday with coverage from the previous weekend (tomorrows edition will cover the WGC Accenture, Mayakoba, and the LPGA Fields). It's got good coverage of the pro, amateur, and college events, and people. It's a often a fun read. Golf Week - I just subscribed to this one based on a copy I saw at Yes! golf the other day. Looks to have a few more articles than Golf World, but I have to withold my opinion without actually getting more than one (old) copy (unlike the music critic at Maxim). Hope this helps a little. DC

Eore, From (an old) USGA handicap book: Handicap Index is the USGA's service mark used to indicate a measurement of a player's potential ability on a course of standard playing difficulty. It is expressed as a number taken to one decimal place, and is used for conversion to a Course Handicap Course Handicap is the USGA's mark that indicates the number of handicap strokes a player receives from a specific set of tees at the course being played to adjust his scoring ability to a level of scratch or 0-handicap golf. For a player with a plus Course Handicap, it is the number of handicap strokes the player gives to adjust his scoring ability to the level of scratch or 0-handicap golf. A Course Handicap is determined by applying the player's USGA Handicap Index to a Course Handicap Table or Course Handicap Formula. A player's course Handicap is expressed as a whole number of strokes. The way to calculate your Course Handicap (H) from your Handicap index for a certain set of tees is to take your Handicap Index (i) multiplied by the slope of the tees you are playing from (s) and divided by 113 (avg slope). H = (i * s / 113) So if I have a Handicap Index of 27.3 and if the Blue Tees for the course I am playing on have a slope of 125. My course Handicap would be: 27.3 * 125 / 113 = 30 strokes for 18 holes. Hope that helps, DC

If you want an even greater discussion of the anti handicap, check out Dean Knuth's informative website www.popeofslope.com . Dean was instrumental in the defining of the USGA handicap system and offers a great insight into hadicap theory as well as history and practice. DC

Jack defined the game, Tiger is simply taking it to an altogether higher level. DC
