  1. As the originator of this thread allow me to chime in on a few things - 1. I'm a bit taken aback about the back and forths that I've read here. I brought something to this forum that I thought would be interesting but quickly watched the discussion disintegrate.Having had in the past the ability to draw other designers, authors, theorists into another forum that I once frequented .I'm a bit taken aback Would the same have happened with another mfg. ? I've yet too see a bs call out of TM / Cally / Ping (et al.) products that claim extra yards, new grooves that spin like Tiger, putter faces, etc... 2. I never met the owner of this company so I have no dog in this fight. 3. Re:Spyder -No one asked for a free putter or a handout. I simply asked that you provide somebody with a trial so that they can review your product for The Sand Trap and all of its members and readers. I think that bkwitt has already addressed that with his asking me to get in contact with him. 4. I will contact bkwitt and if a putter is forthcoming I will provide a review here. rob
  2. Taylor Made Burner Plus irons 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, AW, PW The 4 iron has the original steel shaft Graphite shafts / I-Drive / Regular Flex Tacki Mac Grips Somehow I missed the all clubs, pic shows 7 but there is an 8th I will take an additional pic if an issue $200 plus shipping
  3. Was only kidding about the Dr. and Newton, hence the wink in my post.
  4. 62 years today.. what do I do ? Not much anymore - Play more than a bit of golf these days. take the Border Collie out for his 3x a day frisbee. I was a general contractor / carpenter for 30 + years. While I will still dip my fingers into the well, so to speak, unless it's something that really catches my interest, I'm not available. I will tell you one thing though - I went to work every day happy Each day brought a new challenge, each day allowed me to be creative. 100 years from now there will be buildings standing that I built. That is something I can be proud of. My corporate days never allowed me that satisfaction.
  5. Nice car, hope its either a drug confiscation or you got a sizeable inheritance ?
  6. With apologies to Paul McCartney, you know the guy from Wings... You say it's your birthday / Yes I say it's my birthday / I'm gonna have a good time. Glenlivet 18
  7. One of my friends rode a Commando, not much too look at British style wise but a fast bike. Quik note - he rode it close to 100k miles with out any real work, unbelievable for a British bike. Anyhow our mechanic said that one day it would turn to dust beneath him - he had never seen a Brit bike that did not need major work @ the 40k mark. BTW - I had the entire top end done around that mileage - blew it out @ 5k later as I never had it adjusted. I pulled piston pieces the size of quarters out of the oil pan. Hence the reason for owning the Starfire.
  8. It would seem that Dr. Abez Kryemadhi form Messiah College and Issac Newton would disagree with you. I seem to recall some company doing a similar desigh about 10 years ago with a similar albeit more conventional head.
  9. I'll say a prayer today for the Fathers, Uncles, Friends who forged through WWII and Korea and an additional prayer for those of my generation who fought in Viet Nam. Two in particular (WWII and Viet Nam) told me stories that to this day bring a tear to my eyes for their gallantry and bravery. I was always humbled in their presence. Our freedoms have come at quite a cost.
  10. Unfortunately due to a leg injury my riding days are over. I am contented these days doing the next best thing for me - top down on my 2013 Beetle Turbo. With all that said I primarily rode BSA motorcycles and at one point owned two - A Lightning and a Starfire Scrambler both 650cc. Although these are not my pic's, both are pretty accurate to my rides. I did a few thousand mile rides on each of these - suffice to say that I carried a tool kit
  11. I was driving down the road this past week and there was a Jeep in front of me with a spare tire cover that read - MxV Putters, Brookfield, CT. We were coming upon a stop light so I pulled alongside him, rolled down the window and we chatted for about 30 seconds before the light turned. My curiosity was picqued so I came home and did a quick search. I'll leave it to ya'll to comment - it is one "interesting" design. http://www.mxvgolf.com/home.html

  13. Least favorite show...anything that my wife watches @ 3:00 pm - some soap opera
  14. I did a major addition to a house in New Canaan, CT a number of years ago that was adjacent to the fairway of a hole at New Canaan CC. Every morning I took the customers dogs for a walk along side the hole and would walk out with a half dozen balls or so. I've always been reluctant to purchase used balls online as I've read articles about balls retrieved from ponds, etc. There once was a great golf forum - Ham and Egg - and a member there who was a ball hawk had written a primer on retrieving lost balls. IIRC one tip was to follow streams and look where they took a turn. The majority of balls seemed to get caught up there.
  15. Redding here. I-84, Exit 15 - I take a right instead of the left to Woodbury to play Oxford Greens about once a week (friend of mine is a ranger there). I did a large renovation just past the Chevy dealer in your town a few years ago. You have a great Feed / Seed / "Lumberyard" that I chanced upon while there. rob
  16. Reading through this thread its amazing to see the personalities that many have had an opportunity to tee it up with. Alas, I've trailed behind a few groups that had a famous name but none in any group that I've played in. I would like to offer this though as perhaps comparable. Years ago when I was a kid I worked my way up the caddy ranks at Yale Golf Course. As usual I showed up at the course @ 6:30 am hoping for an early morning loop - double bag / 18. The Caddy Master / Starter called my name right away when I arrived - I ran up the hill to the first tee and he introduced me to my players : Dick Siderowf who had one of the most illustrious amateur careers in the U.S and his partner that morning, #42...Jackie Robinson. Dopey kid that I was it never occurred to me to ask for an autograph from either at the end of the round. Probably one of the reasons the Caddy Master asked me.
  17. ps - one of the nicest public courses in the area
  18. Tashua Knolls...lol Member there last year - about 20 minutes on the back roads
  19. Where in CT ? Redding, here
  20. Please do not take this the wrong way, but...a friend of mine on another forum forum (thx J) once offered me some sage advice regarding posting / answering on forums - Keep it short and if not. at least break the thought up into different sentences / paragraphs to make it easier to read. (thx, J) That said...I once saw a 70+ year old golfer spin a $1.00 Pinnacle back 6' from a sandtrap. Regarding price - I recently gamed the Wilson Staff Fifty's for around $12 a box from S/A. SOB, I had the longest drive on one hole with mine against others that were $20+. In fact, I had also purchased a box of Srixxon Feel's for about $20 and momentarily switched for a few holes - the cheap Wilsons actually gave me better results. Long story short - you can ask, but your results are better answered by buying a few sleeves of what is available while not caring about the score you have that / those days. Trial and error will give you the best answer. rob
  21. Hi all, well after 25 years plus living in CT. its time to get the hell out of here and move South. I lived in the Greenville (went to Furman) / Travelors Rest / Spartanburg area for @ 7 years so know that part of the state pretty well. The Charlestown area was always my Shangrila. So...looking for any recommendations on a hamlet, town, city to take a look at that has a course within 30 minutes of the general Charleston area. Heading down there tomorrow (long drive, @ 850 miles) to look at house's so I appreciate the input. thx - rob
  22. The weather here today in Connecticut was beautiful and the course we played, near Long Island Sound, afforded us a snow free, relatively well groomed course. My X-Hot came in yesterday just in time for todays round. Adjusted to 1 ° closed, I hit 12 / 15 fairways straight. Distance...now here is the kicker - I play with 3 other gentlemen who are all near my age (62 / 68) who mostly play 10.5 ° drivers w/ reg. shafts. All are O.E.M except one who is a Matrix, high performance shaft guy. My X-Hot...13.5 ° Results - 2 drives longest, the rest mostly neck and neck against less lofted drivers. The moral of the story...the trackman fiiting dialed in a driver and loft for me that I can confidently take to the course. rob
  23. Just bought the X Hot this past week - I can't say much about it on the course tho' as I'm waiting for mine from Cally. LSS - I went to a Golf Digest Top 100 fitter and demo'd a # of drivers on a Trackman. Tried the new 2013 Cobra Amp, Nike Covert and Cally Hot X. It was initially neck and neck between the Nike and Cally #'s wise - spin, distance, flight and it looked like the Nike was going to win out. Scott Ward, my fitter, was called away later in the session and as I said it looked like the Nike was the driver I revisited the Cally as it just felt better. I can't really explain the "Feel Factor" but there was something about the driver that felt more comfortable while I was swinging. While Scott was away I adjusted my swing plane, address, started swinging away and checked the #'s on the trackman - all the data told me I was hitting the Cally a better than the Nike. When Scott came back I showed him the trackman #'s and...I felt comfortable enough at that point to pull out the card and buy it. Now while there is still some snow on the ground here in CT I'm headed out for the first round of the season on Tues. Picked up a box of the Wilson Duos - will let you know what the Hot X does in real world conditions. rob
  24. Just caught a closeup of Kuchars putter... As I own two - Big Ben and B6 I was very happy to see the putter logo featured on his putt.
  25. My other ride - only thing they have in common is that the Germans like their gas caps on the passenger side. I'm a "semi-retired" carpenter and if you can believe it, this is my work vehicle which occasionally carries my chop saw and trim compressor. The VW is a hoot - 6 speed paddle shift, accelerating can pin you to the seat. Fun car - can't wait to top down it and have the bag in the back seat this spring.
