Replacing a ball from a water filled bunker....
Na5carr3 replied to Na5carr3's topic in Rules of Golf
Not a tournament. Yes, money was involved. One player was trying to deem USGA Tournament Play, thus play it in the bunker in the shallowest water but was outvoted by the other two and let me replace the ball on the outside edge of the bunker furthest from the hole without penalty given the fact the ruling was not established before play began. They were all really pissed when I won the hole with a poley par. Couldn't get the sandy as I really didn't play from "real" sand. -
Hit my drive. It went into a fairway bunker. We get to the spot to find the bunker is slam full of water to the brim. Only a inch or two of sand can be seen around the edges. Where is a replacement ball to be placed/dropped without penalty? This turned out to be a real argument in the group I was with. Can anyone help?

When you ride a bicycle, is it "feel" or "mechanical"? A golf swing I think could be compared the same way.

Great Post! I use this grip with the exception (which you probably wouldn't see in a pic) of that my right thumb is "relaxed" and kinda just sitting there. Reason for this....if I "grip" the club with my right thumb I tend to squeeze the ball to the right. It just opens the club face up for me at impact, so I just relax that right thumb. Now on the other hand I do grip that right thumb if I want to hit a little more than a baby fade. It works for me.....

Holding the club too tight? Never seen wear like that before..... -

How do you like that shaft up against steel. I am currently swinging KBS Tour Stiff. How would you say they compare...ball flight and so forth? I have had my eye on the Aerotechs for a while now, just afraid to pull the trigger I guess.... -

Old thread I know but I wanted to throw a few words in. I just put these (in dark gray) on all of my clubs. I moved from the very firm Ping 703 standard grip. It seems the jury above doesn't like them much except a couple. I never thought I'd like a softer grip but this thing really brings the feel back to the club. IMHO the grip is very grippy. I feel like on the durability side, if you are wearing one little spot out on the grip then I don't believe you are even gripping the club right to start with. I wore the thumb out of a brand new FootJoy glove in 7 holes once after going with a stronger grip. I realized quickly I wasn't holding the club properly. Same thing could be happening with a softer grip as opposed to a firmer one. At any rate, this is a great grip for me and really is easier on the joints. I could tell a difference immediately after my first round with them.

It's probably a good thing that you have better equipment. In that I mean (IMHO) cheap equipment tends to make for bad habits that are hard to break when you do finally pull the trigger on some good quality sticks. Probably the best advice I would give is, practice that swing. Don't be a hitter of the ball, be a swinger of the club and just let the ball get in the way of the swing. I see new golfers all the time trying to kill the ball on the downswing. Let the club do the work. That's why there are so many in the bag!

You should use your other hand when reaching in the water to retrieve your ball...LOL! Just bought a bag of tees.....big spender, huh? -
Taylormade R1 shaft flex / swing speed help!!!
Na5carr3 replied to bogeys18's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I had an R1. Got rid of it.My swing speed was 94 to 97mph, had the stiff shaft. It felt like a rubber band. I do have a couple questions....Were you hitting them more left or right and with which shaft? In your Ping's what shaft did you have? Why does TM have to come out with something different every six months? Now they have the SLDR that I will never try. The technology can not possibly be changing that much or we would be hitting 600 yard drives by now. I found a brand new still in the wrapper Ping K15 with a 149D stiff shaft and that so called technology is 4+ years old now and I can not find a driver that will out do it on the market today. When it comes to clubs (any of them) find a club head that looks good to you and go with that. Then move on to finding the shaft that is best for you. It might be a $50 shaft or it may be a $300 shaft, either way find the right one for YOU. Then find a grip you really like and works best for your size hand and how you like for it to feel. And last but not least (and I'm getting off the subject here) find a golf ball, even if it's a cheap one and stay with that from now on. If you do these things and stop trying to impress your buddies (and I'm not saying you are, but some do) I promise you will play better golf. One more thing, these shafts that come in these"stock" driver's are "made for" shafts. You may find that a stock shaft is to your liking, mine was in the case of my K15, but don't let all this shaft stuff go to your head when looking for any club. It don't matter what it is, just make sure the club head looks good to you at address and it feels good when you make contact. -
This guy helped me the most with this. It's so simple, it's stupid and it works!

I guess your correct in your thinking. I saw this club and immediately loved the looks. I was set up for it properly, even hitting some pretty consistent 290 yd drives with it. However, that was on the machine, but on the course was another story. I just couldn't get anything going with it. I even put it down for a round or two and went back to it and you guessed it....nothing. I'm mostly a Ping guy and have been for a long time. I thought I'd try something different. I really felt confident over this club looking down on it but the result was nothing short of a "turd" on the course. This is not to say that TM is a "turd" company, it just didn't work for me. But I still say the stock shaft was a "turd" for sure.
-
I wouldn't waste my good urine on it or in it. Had the white one and it's "scientifically proven" crap. The stock shaft that comes with it was made for a beginner. Having 168 different settings is ridiculous. It just adds to the confusion of one thinking their swinging correctly. Get some lessons. Then get fit. Then go play the best golf of your life. I will admit the black looks outstanding, however, if you paint a terd a beautiful color it's still a terd.

New Ping i20 iron set to include SW and LW or not?
Na5carr3 replied to Glyndwr's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
This is not true of Ping. They will do to the club what ever you like. Call their WRX department. Excellent customer service. I believe you can send yours back and they will set loft and lie angles and do any grind to your liking. Not a seller of Ping products. -
New Ping i20 iron set to include SW and LW or not?
Na5carr3 replied to Glyndwr's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Not too many of these running around. Just got this one. I have the rest of the set too. Got this 1* weak which makes it a 59* with back grind and KBS Tour stiff shaft. +1/2 in. Matches the rest of my set. I really liked the U and S wedges, so I decided to give this one a go. -
This whole thread is really crap if your putting the screws to Garcia. I mean if you have ever called someone fat or short or a dumbass, your just as racist as the next person is. Some of my best friends in the world are black and I love'em, but we still sit around and joke on one another every now and then whether it's considered racist or not. I have respect for all the players. The media puts a lot of pressure on these guys and yes, sooner or later somebody is going to say something that someone else doesn't like. The man gave his apology and that really should be the end of it. Everybody is making a mountain out mole hill. Just my 2 cents.

Yea, trade it in for something else. Painting your club will change the swing weight as well. I'm guessing at a minimum...a few grams....
-
You would be correct sir. My current average is 1.9 putts per hole. Trying to get to 1.5 or so. That's 7.2 strokes a round if I didn't work on anything else. This is not to say I don't work on chipping, irons, woods and the driver. I'm just saying hittin' is for show and puttin' is for dough. I just feel I can get more back with the putter than a chip shot, but then again that's just me. Great question though. I guess I just didn't clarify myself. Thanks for the response!

New Ping i20 iron set to include SW and LW or not?
Na5carr3 replied to Glyndwr's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just ordered my i20 LW. I will have the entire set after this one with matching serial #'s. I love these clubs and Ping does a great job with them. I first got 3-PW then later I ordered the UW (or Gap) to see if I'd like it. I did! Went back to the well and ordered the SW....WOW...love that one too. Now on to the LW which comes factory at 58* but I'm getting mine 1* weak and also getting the "back grind". Suppose to help more on open face shots which that's what most LW shots end up being anyway...OPEN. I've never really thought I'd have a FULL matching set of clubs, but these things just fit me right and feel great. I almost feel like a dork for having an entire matching set but I just can't turn my nose up at the performance of the i20. -
About 2 years ago I was going to Myrtle Beach for a week outing of golf. All I had in my bag was Driver then 3-SW. No hybrids or fairways. Went to local shop and was just looking around at the used stuff and came across a Ping Rapture V2 17.5* 4 Wood. This thing looked like it had never seen the course, so for $65 bucks I picked it up after hitting it a handful of times in the back room. No monitor was available in the room I was in but nevertheless the club felt nice and had a brand new matching headcover. Got to MB and hit it a couple of times on some par 5's with not really good results so went back to my 3 iron. I left it in my bag for about a year and never really messed with it much. All that said, I pulled it back out earlier this year and I have just been ripping this thing off the deck about 225 with unreal accuracy. Now I use it on the tee box on short par 3's and on par 5 approach shots. I would have never thought I would say this is now my favorite club in the bag. I have never had a 3 wood or a hybrid but recently picked up a Adams Super Hybrid SS for that 185 to 195 shot. I love that club too. I haven't used my 3 or 4 iron since the switch. Just swing'em with the tempo of a 7 iron and they just fly.
