  1. I switched from Calloway X-18 to AP-2's early in the year. I really like the AP-2's but you will notice it if you don't hit the sweet spot. I think that they may be alittle tough to play for someone with a 20+ handicap.
  2. The range is included in the club membership. So I can hit all I want. I know a few guys that will stay out on the range all day. We have a nice range, hitting off zoyzia, same as the fairways. The practice bunkers could be alittle better though.
  3. Why would anyone need a backup set? I could understand if you had a set you just loved and they didn't make them anymore, but that's about it. I paid $750 for a set of AP-2's with the project X shafts. I did not get the 3-iron though so it would have cost around another $100. And this was from my local pro. You have a new set that your hitting good, why change? I went from Calloway X-18 to the AP-2's but my Calloways were around 3 years old and I just wanted a new set. Ive played around 20 rounds with the AP-2's and for me they are alittle shorter, so Ive had to adjust for that, but they do have better feedback. But your X-forged should have plenty of that.
  4. I have the Titlest AP-2's and they have very good feel. You really need to go hit some different clubs and see what you like. I chose the Titlest because I liked the feel and the way they looked at address. There were other clubs that felt just as good but they are what I ended up with. There are a lot of good clubs out there.
  5. I got mine through our club pro. I paid $750 for 4-PW. I also got a new Volkey SM wedge for $85. This is about the lowest prices Ive seen for new clubs. It did take awhile for me to get the AP-2's though. Around 3 weeks. I got the project X shafts and 2 upright.
  6. If I could keep it in play, maybe. The problem is its easy to say just play for bogey, but hit it in the deep rough and you may be playing for double or worst. Ive played some tough tracks before and a couple of Pro-Ams, but never from the tips. I'm afraid my 230 yd drives just wouldn't cut it.
  7. Hibore driver $300 Callaway 3 wood $150 taylor made Hybrids,2,3,4 $450 Titleist AP-2 4-pw $750 Titleist spin milled wedge $85 putter $150 Bag $75 Laser $400 (it was a gift so I'm guessing) shoes, I have 4 pair $300 Looks like a little over $2600 This is whats in my bag now. I have an assortment of wedges, putters, drivers, ect, in the corner of the garage.
  8. Ive only played four rounds with mine so far and ive probably hit four large buckets of range balls. My friends have also hit a few balls trying them out. On close inspection you can tell they have been hit and there is some very slight bag chatter but nothing that I would consider out of the ordinary. I mean you realy have to look close to see anything.
  9. lI finally got mine today. I ordered the 4-pw. As other's have said, they have a very solid feel. I usually hit 7-10 GIR a round and I hit 9 today. It was very easy to hit these straight. I was playing X-18 Callaways and I was never really happy with them. I also got a spin milled sand wedge so I have some adjusting to do with so many new clubs. I still shot 78 on a 72.0/129, which is a good score for me. Hopefully the rain will stop at some time and we will start getting some roll. I'm going to play 36 tommorow so hopefully I'll start getting a feel for these clubs.
  10. It took close to 4 weeks for me to get my AP2's. I got 2 degree upright.
  11. I just picked up a Volkey spin milled 56 to replace my Cleveland. It's going to take some getting use to the spin, but for shots around the green its great. I figured for $85 I'd give it a try. I had some pro shop credit from a tourney to spend.
  12. I waiting for my set of Titleist AP2's to arrive.
  13. Ive got a old set of Wilson Dynapowers, 1 iron thru SW. They originaly had leather wraped grips. I also have some old Magregor persimon drivers. I recently had the Wilsons regriped and Im using the pitching wedge in place of my gap wedge. I also will hit the 6 iron on the range from time to time. I last used these irons regularly 18 yrs ago. The big diference was when the Big Bertha woods came out. Now those seamed to really make a difference.
  14. The weather was better today but I shot another 81. I had four 3 putts. 11 GIR, no birdies. No penalty's.
  15. I went ahead and told the pro at the club to order me a set. I ended up ordering the 5.0 shaft and 2 deg upright. Hopefully they will be here in a week or two. I couldn't tell any difference between the 5.0 and 5.5 so I went with the softer shaft. I'm not a long hitter so I figure the softer shaft wouldn't hurt.
  16. I got five in a row starting on the second hole during a Pro-Am last year. I had been practicing quite a bit before hand. I have gotten 6 a couple of times and 5 several times. So far this year I have had one round with 4.
  17. I took the game back up around 3 years ago. My index last year ran from 7.2 to 8.2. I play a Fazio course at around 6500yds. I don't drive the ball very far and I'm a lousy iron player. But I can chip and putt and usually get as many pars as bogeys. I think it also helps to play with better players. It makes me want to work on my game so I can compete with them. I have played with some pro's and they definatly are more deliberate than I am. I still throw away a couple of shots a round from just not taking the time to think about what I needed to do.
  18. I shot 81 on Saturday. Not bad since I was wearing three layers of clothing and the fairways are still dead and soft.
  19. I am going to spend more time practicing. My handicap went up last year from 7.2 to 8.0 and I played alot of golf, but did not practice. I have already shot a 74 and 75 this year so I am optimistic. Hopefully it will stop raining and warm up soon. I retired last October so I will have plenty of time to work on my game.
  20. I'm going back and forth between these and the AP-1's. I have only been able to hit the demo 6 irons so far. I'm waiting for it to warm up and dry out some to get a better idea on how I hit them. I'm currently playing Callaway x-18's and I wonder how the Titlest will compare distance wise? I also have trouble hitting the Callaways low.
  21. I'm new here so first off hello. I'm currently planning on buying a new set of irons and Ive been hitting the demo AP1 and AP2 6 irons that just came in. I use to play blades years ago, back in the early 90's, but quit playing for several years and just took the game back up 3 years ago. I currently have Calloway X-18's and just seem to hit the ball higher than I like and have a hard time working the ball. The AP1's are alittle more forgiving but I like the look of the AP2's slightly better. My handicap is currently at 8, but iron play is definatly the week part of my game. I'm currently leaning toward the AP1's, but it's high 40's and wet here and may change my mind when I get a chance to hit something when I'm not wearing three layers of clothing and hitting off soft wet grass. I do seem to hit the AP1's slightly farther, I'm not real long and tend to hit the ball high.
