  1. I'm in fairway bunkers a lot, so I've been forced to learn how to hit them well. I do everything Iacas says + one thing. I focus on the front of the ball. My local golf pro suggested it to me awhile back and it helps me pick it clean most of the time. On a bad shot I'll hit it thin, but it gets it out of there with pretty good distance.
  2. I don't think the touring pros need the interchangable head/shafts. Most golf companies have tour vans at every event. So they have access to every possible club combination/spec of their choice.
  3. I play Nickent 3DX ironwoods. They are really easy to get up in the air. They are on sale at Dick's for about $49-59 each. Definately worth twice what I paid for them.
  4. Wow nice find. I already have one, but I might buy one for my brother at that price.
  5. I didn't buy it, went for an Igolf Neo instead. Very happy with the purchase.
  6. Free golf is never a bad thing. Free golf with an invitation from your boss is a no brainer.
  7. http://www.snga.org Our tournament site has been down for over a week. It's plain, but gets the job done.
  8. That's not correct. Igolf gives you up to 4 custom points in addition to Front, Center, Back of green yardages. Most courses I play are already mapped with bunkers/water carry/end of fairway yardages etc... Very accurate and mapping your own hazard takes 2 seconds.
  9. I don't know of any GPS devices that will give you that many statistics. Not really sure why you would need it. I know the min/max of each of my clubs. The only stat I would really want to track is GIR, Fairways hit and Putts per round. But if your looking for GPS in general, try the IGolf Neo. It's small, simple and works perfectly.
  10. Can someone give me some insight on the tip lengths for drivers and what it does exactly? I currently have a 10.5 degree HiboreXL with (R) shaft - mid/low kickpoint. I'm looking to change the shaft to a Mid or Mid/High kickpoint because my drives are ballooning and I'm getting almost no roll. Also, can anyone give me some suggestions on a shaft that will give me a more penetrating ball flight? I have no problems getting the ball in the air, and my swing speed is about 90-92mph. Any feedback appreciated - thanks!
  11. My bag has 1 big slot on the top 2 rows of 3 slot dividers and 1 big slot on the bottom My bag is setup like this. Driver and 3 wood 5 Wood, 3 Hybrid, 4 Hybrid 5i-6i, 7i-8i, 9i-pw 52w-60w-putter Sometimes I switch out my 5 wood for a 56w
  12. I use a stronger club and choke down on it. I find it much easier than overswinging a weaker club.
  13. The grooves on that thing look like they could rip the cover off a ball in one swing.
  14. Got into a bad habit of not practicing before a round, and my scores are showing it. I used to go an hour early, but it's so damn hot out here I like to just show up and play. Stay out of the sun as much as possible.
  15. Definately Southern California. FL gets hot, rains too much in Hawaii.
  16. Can't really beat the value of the Ping Karsten's.
  17. Whoa nice setup.
  18. Great explanation, always wondered about those cards and Q-school.
  19. Pebble beach for me. I grew up at the beach, so the waves crashing and stiff breeze makes me feel like home.
  20. Bali Hai and Paiute are popular around here, but I think they are overrated and overpriced. I tend to stick to local henderson courses (it's a suburb of vegas about 15minutes from strip). Few of my favorites would be Legacy http://www.thelegacygc.com $90/round but they always have early twighlight ($55/round) Revere @ Anthem http://www.reveregolf.com $90-$125/round (cheaper after 12pm) Black Mountain http://golfblackmountain.com $75/round Desert Willow http://www.desertwillowlasvegas.com/ (par 3/Par 4 only) $40/round These are all reasonably priced and very nice courses. If you're looking for a quick 18, I suggest Desert Willow. It's the best Par 3/Par 4 course out here and perfect for working on short game.
  21. Blue and white looks pretty cool. Not sure about the orange one, Dent has a good point, it looks like a woman's shoe.
  22. I've had this happen to me a few times. I hit a drive that was on the edge of the curve of a dogleg left. And as I was driving up to my ball, I see a guy on the cart path veer off the path towards my ball as well. He picks it up as soon as I get there and I say, "Hey that's my ball"... He said "oh I thought it was mine because it was a noodle and I've lost 10 today". Well I wanted to tell him that he's not the only one that uses them, but it has my initials in bright red right on the stamp of the ball, so I'm sure that was enough. He basically was stealing my ball because he lost so many. It's frustrating to say the least. I hardly pick up any stray balls on the course and if I do, I make sure no one is around that could have hit it there.
  23. The Hibore XL is about $129 right now. Great club!
  24. I used to play at 7-8am on Par 3's when I was first starting out. Mainly because i didn't want to hold anyone up or feel rushed. I would like to play those times again, especially now in this 110+ heat. But it's hard to get my lazy ass to get out of bed that early.
  25. It's amazing how much you can learn from these forums. Most of the time the opinions are non-biased personal experiences. Which to me is the best advice you can get. Someone that has done it, or have gone through the same "learning" pains you are going through. For instance, I would have never bought a golf GPS if I didn't read some much about it here. And it's helped me take 3-5 shots off my score. Or constant rules snippets I learn from numerous threads here. Etiquette has also been discussed on many levels, and of course equipment/balls etc.. Those have all played in a part in what i use today. So basically, the Sand Trap is where I learned to play golf when I can't be out on the course :)
