  1. There are less SC's than there are Pings. There are less Mercedes than there are Hondas. Does them make them better? No. But it does make them more rare, more unique, and more valuable. I also think that a company that is only focused on one thing - putters - Scotty Cameron - has a strong arguement for charging more. They specialize in making these things. So is it the name? yea I guess. quality usually has a stamp. I do love the Anser though!!!! Without it, SC would not have had anything to model his Newport after
  2. Did you even read what you wrote? You said they were nice. You did not say that they were things of beauty or finely crafted. I believe one of my last paragraphs sums up why there are not many SC's on the LPGA of Champions tour. Not that they the members of these tours are not AWESOME, they have just tended to move quickly to the more forgiving technologies in golf. Do I think Cameron thinks that having LPGA players playing his putters would degrade his brand? You have got to be kidding me dude. No way do I think that he would turn down any professional player wanting to use his putter designs. How would that be degrading anyway, sir? Davis Love is a millionaire pods. Davis Love is a professional golfer. His son has probably been playing golf since he could breathe. Davis likes Camerons. So his son is going to like Camerons. I am pretty sure any reasonable person understands that a 12 year old is not financing the hobbies/collections that he shares with his father. Don't get mad at the kiddo if he said he is a collector. My grandfather gave me money for baseball cards and he let me say I was a collector. Who are you to say he is not? And your bullsh*% you said again about the father instilling a warped view of "brands" to his 11 year old birthday boy by giving him a putter that he will have for the rest of his life really makes me sick. I understand that being infatuated with "name brands" is a definite negative, but you are picking the wrong illustration in trying to demonstrate that point. If I remember correctly, you just said how they are finely crafted and things of beauty. I can't believe the father would be so irresponsible The kid will probably give it to his son when he grows up Sounds pretty warped to me. You blatantly continue to criticize those who admire the fine craftsmanship, and are passing it along to their kids. Pick your fight with the parents who buy their kids 200 dollar tennis shoes, not the dad giving his son a putter that is already priceless. That is my main arguement against your post. I don't care whether you like the putters or not.
  3. Don't think I like the thought of buying a diamond online. I have never looked into it though, just seems like the ABSOLUTE LAST thing that should ever be bought or sold online. I have heard of buying the setting online, and then buying the diamond from a jeweler and having them set it. Good luck!!! Hope she says yes!!!
  4. You are way off here pods. They are great putters. It is of course dependent upon the individual, but don't even try and make a comparison or degrade those that appreciate fine craftsmanship. And if you haven't noticed, it seems that there are a lot of winners on the PGA tours who use Camerons. I won't even list them for you, because it is pretty obvious. yea I know, Odyssey does make a good stick, but from a resale perspective, can you custom order an Odyssey or any other brand? Not unless you are Phil Mickelson or Chad Collins. Can you get your name put on it from the factory? Can you change the finish? Can you change the lie and weight? Can you call and talk to a person at the shop about what you want? No. You can't. That is why they are more expensive. That is why they are collectors items. By the way, I have been a "collector" of many things (sports cards, stamps, rocks, coins) since I was very young. And by the time I was 12, shit, I was in my prime. How dare you degrade a father giving his son something that he feels is special, especially when it is. That putter is better than all the rest. Because his father gave it to him. Because it has his name on it. And because it is a Cameron. And picking on Davis Love, a professional golfer, for collecting putters with his son. WOW. Maybe they are worth collecting then huh? Are the Pings and Odysseys that were sold 2 years, 4 years, or 6 years ago worth even 50% of what they were purchased for? Not even a chance. However, I do completely agree with your point that it is all in the hands of the roller. Go with whatever you like, whatever feels comfortable, and of course, whatever you can afford. Not having a "Scotty Cameron" does not put any golfer at a disadvantage by any means. In reality, they are meant for better players. The new Taylor Made's and the Odysseys are excellent sticks with great alignment aids, awesome insert technology, and sweet spot optimization. I still love my Rossie. Sorry for the rant I just can't let you get away with degrading not only a finely made club, but the people who use and/or collect them. Roll em straight!!!!
  5. I agree with you....The Cameron Collector is insane... I am addicted bad. If you can afford to get an SC, and you want one, then I say you should go ahead and get one. Try it out, see if you like it. Then new Studio Stainless Series is awesome. If you decide that you want something different, they will hold their value better than any other putter out there.
  6. Avatar cracks me up every time I see it.
  7. I can't help but start smiling when I think of this one Playing a very wooded course, and my buddy pipes one down the middle. I get ready and hit my drive. Right after I hit my shot I see a squirrel darting across the fairway towards my buddies ball. Just so happens that my ball is headed towards the same spot as my buddies ball is. The squirrel gets to his ball at the same time mine does. Lucky for him (the squirrel), he overshot by a few inches. I think my ball hit him on his tail because he squealed and did a back-flip (could been a lot worse for the little fella). So not only did I manage to hit my partners ball on the fly (a very rare thing), a furry tailed ball thief got his tail caught in between the impact too. My partners ball shot forward, mine stayed there. He got up, started yelling at my ball, swatted it away and ran after my partners, picked it up, and made off for the woods. Everytime I play that hole now I am looking for squirrels, because I am sure he is waiting in the woods to get even.
  8. Was not me!!!! LOL. Maybe they did not like that you used a four letter word That is pretty funny though. Sorry it had to be at your expense. I got your back
  9. So true! The best putters are whatever you play the best with. I love my Scotty and they are some of the most meticulously made putters out there, and the price really reflects this. Best of luck! Picking a flat stick it tough. It is even tougher sticking with one when you are not rolling it well.
  10. I agree completely. Also, you have to stand up, move your body, hit something, be outside, be athletic, be awake during the day , and you can't quit after a bad shot. Golf is also a 4-letter word.
  11. I have always used PINGS, but they don't make them as well as they used to. However, I did just start using the Latitude (by PING) and am liking it a lot. I like it more than the Vantage because it has a few more pockets (love the sunglasses holder and detachable shag bag), and I ride around 50% of the time that I play.
  12. I understand your point of wanting to label him an African American. My point was to try and demonstrate that Africa is a very diverse continent with many different countries that have different ethnicities. South Africa has a completely different ethnic background than Botswana for example. So to call everyone from the continent of Africa, Africans, would be way too broad of a label, in my opinion of course Lefty sums it up well too...
  13. I have a few favorites to say the least..... Zepplin - Over the Hills and Far Away - Stairway to Heaven - Achilles last stand - kashmir - whole lotta love - when the levee breaks - since i've been loving you Skynard - Freebird - simple man - sweet home alabama Credence Clearwater - everything Clapton - Layla - bell bottom blues - badge - crossroads - cocaine - tears in heaven The Doors - Light my Fire - Break on through - love me two times - roadhouse blues - riders on the storm Hendrix - Along the Watchtower - Little wing Rolling Stones - Satisfaction - Paint it black - you can't always get what you want - beast of burden Aerosmith - Dream On - sweet emotion Allman Brothers - whipping post - rambling man - midnight rider Whew......that is all I can remember for now. Have fun jammin out!!!
  14. That would be an incorrect correct label. They are White South African Americans. The skin color of an individual, as is clearly illustrated in many posts, does not determine their ethnicity or country of origin. However, it is usually an important variable in determining their race/ethnicity, along with other characteristics like facial features and accents. 15. I wanted to add that golf is one of the only true "individual" sports. All other sports that kids traditionally play are team related, and that is part of their appeal. And golf is expensive in the sense that you can't really play without paying something. If you want to hit balls, pay for the range. Want to play, pay green fees. I guess putting practice is free, but come on, what kid would rather stand around a golf course putting green by them self because they can't pay to play than play 3 on 3 or a pickup baseball game with their friends. I am sick of hearing anything about race Sick and freakin tired of it. It is exactly what prevents true equality. I hope that all kids, of all backgrounds and ethnicities have the opportunities to do whatever it is they want to do.
  16. Played a lot of courses, but Cabo Del Sol - Ocean Course in Cabo San Lucas is my favorite so far.
  17. I lived on Clear Lake for a few years, and here is where I would go: Have you not tried Beacon Lakes? They have a large range and the 18 holes are lighted too! http://www.beaconlakesgolf.com/golf/...aconlakesgolf/ For a really nice practice facility, go ease onto Bay Oaks Country Club. They have a great putting green and chipping area. Green Caye off 146 near Dickinson is cool too. http://www.greencayegolfcourse.com/ Hope this helps, I know it can be frustrating. But, it will probably be more frustrating fighting that traffic on 45
  18. It was what my dad always played, so I had to have my own tapes for my walkman!
  19. His head is so messed up right now.
  20. Wow That was awesome Thanks for making my mouth water
  21. Here are some that I got in an email today. Some are old but still good. A gushy reporter told Phil Michelson, 'You are spectacular, your name is synonymous with the game of golf. You really know your way around the course. What's your secret?' Michelson replied, 'The holes are numbered.' ----------------------------- A young man and a priest are playing together. At a short par-3 the priest asks, 'What are you going to use on this hole my son? ' The young man says, 'An 8-iron, father. How about you?' The priest says, 'I'm going to hit a soft seven and pray. ' The young man hits his 8-iron and puts the ball on the green. The priest tops his 7-iron and dribbles the ball out a few yards. The young man says, 'I don't know about you father, but in my church when we pray, we keep our head down.' ----------- ------- ------------ Police are called to an apartment and find a woman holding a bloody 5-iron standing over a lifeless man. The detective asks, 'Ma'am, is that your husband?' 'Yes' says the woman. 'Did you hit him with that golf club?' Yes, yes, I did.' The woman begins to sob, drops the club, and puts her, hands on her face. 'How many times did you hit him?' 'I don't know, five, six, maybe seven times.....just put me down for a five.' ------------------------------ A golfer teed up his ball on the first tee, took a mighty swing and hit his ball into a clump of trees. He found his ball and saw an opening between two trees he thought he could hit through. Taking out his 3-wood, he took another mighty swing; the ball hit a tree, bounced back, hit him in the forehead and killed him. As he approached the gates of Heaven, St. Peter saw him coming and asked, 'Are you a good golfer', to which the man replied: 'Got here in two, didn't I?' ------------------------------ The bride came down the aisle and when she reached the altar, the groom was standing there with his golf bag and clubs at his side. She said: 'What are your golf clubs doing here'? He looked her right in the eye and said, 'This isn't going to take all day, is it? ----------------------
  22. Impressive, yes. Deserving consideration as a legend? Not even close. That is why "legends" are so great, and will be remembered throughout history, because others "rarely have a hope of getting near" their records.
  23. That would probably just add to his "legend". Isn't that what breaking records is considered?
  24. Legends are REMEMBERED after long periods of time, not "necessarily" made over them, although longevity is very often a consideration. Tiger Woods will be a legend, without a doubt. These folks say he already is http://www.golflegends.org/
  25. Welcome back to the Bayou City! If you are in the energy sector, there is no other place to be. I am up around the NW side of town all the time, and play quite a bit. Let me know if you want to catch a round sometime.
