Try the 11.5 just for fun, talk about bombing it... it goes about 20 yards longer than my best driver off the deck shot, and if the course I play has long par 5s I carry this club to attack the green in two! Fun club!!

I play 1 xcg5 and 2 xcg6. I love all three, and rotate them depending on the course. They really do what they say, hit it LONG! And straight! in the XCG6 I have 15* and 18* and in the xcg5, the club I really love to carry the 11.5* what a club!

I tend to disagree with that as an owner of 3 Vokey wedges... The grooves definitely do something. I can see how they may also double as a way to channel stuff away from the ball, but when you buy a new wedge Vokey/Cleveland etc. you can see proof that the grooves do something about every third shot with it, when you have to retire another scuffed up ball!

I hit a wedge on my 2nd shot of a short par 4, landed 10 feet past the hole and it checked and backed up to within 1" of the hole! Only my 2nd round trying out the prov1 it's a fun ball :)

I would think that an astroturf green would be more fun to play on than a sand green, I may be wrong, but if they just made a really smooth turf green wouldn't it feel closer to the real thing? maybe too much bounce? Not trying to cause a debate, just wondering.

I think I just found my new favorite thread!! I wish i had more pictures of some of the courses I have played... From now on I am going to take a few pics whenever i am at a beautiful course... Especially since I have an awesome camera on my phone! No excuses lol! I will try to search my computer for pictures from palouse ridge and various courses in palm springs.

My biggest goal right now is to start shooting in the 80s everytime. I have shot the occasional 89, and once, on a quite tough cxourse shot an 81.. usually i shoot low 90s. I can hit the ball long, and I can putt, but chipping is killing me. Which leads me to my other goal, Become a WAY better chipper! I feel like the goals go hand in hand...

^Good posting! I worked to hit my long bombs, and taking that away would be torture!! if they take that away they better go to 1 cover style balls so people who are good with wedges can't have an advantage anymore either! That being said if they made the ball affect everyone the same so people hitting 300 now hit like 280, and people hitting 200 would end up hitting something like 193 (guessing) then I am fine with the changes.

. Uhh no! If you are going to makethe long hitters hit it shorter it better affect everyone otherwise that is a load of crap. That's like saying at some quarterbacks in the NFL throw it too far so if they throw it over a certain speed we aree going to put airbrakes in the ball.... just stupid! Don't penalize a group of people just because another group can't can't do it as well, maybe they could take lessons or work on something to hit it further... Just because grandpa at the municipal can't hit it 300 yards doesn't mean a strong 6foot+ tall man shouldn't have his game gimped so that he can keep up. Aging is a fact of life, and I fully expect to lose distance as I age, and I don't expect some manufacturers to step in and give me an advantage... that's what a handicap is for...

One slight change, bought an Odyssey Versa #7 black on white. Love it!

As good as this sounds, I believe it is a better idea to grab it and take it into the clubhouse, so that you don't have to trust the 10-100 people playing behind you to act the same. In my experience, I have lost, and was able to get back after the round a callaway 56* wedge, and a scotty putter. I did however never get back my x-forged 2 iron... the times i got my clubs back the group behind me brought them to me on the tee box before finishing their hole.

I carry four wedges, PW, AW SW and LW 47*, 52*, 56*, 60* I use each and every one so often that I took my 19* 3-iron out of my bag so i could keep all 4. Nothing is better than having a club you can consistently and confidently hit a certain distance. I believe it improves my short game immensely. but as for the gap wedge, in my game, I feel it is a necessity, as i otherwise have a 140- 110 yard dropoff between my 47* pw and 56* sw. the 52* gap fills that void nicely, and reminds me of my old PW, which i used to hit 120 every time. At times my 3-iron will find it's way in, but only on tight courses with punishing greens, although, usually at the expense of dropping my 5w or driver.

I am very intrigued by this course. I am hoping to return to Hawaii next year, and plan to play Turtle Bay, Poipu Beach and possibly Luana Hills or Maybe the Royal Hawaiian while I am there. (Poipu Beach is worth the cost of a side trip to Kaui, I promise! or there may even be a ferry for way cheaper)

My 3Iron is 19*, so I dropped it for the 5wood, unless I know i am playing a course where I will need my 3 iron for a par 3 or 2nd on a par 5. Love the feel of a pure 3-iron, but the 5wood is so amazingly consistent. My Lob wedge is a lifesaver, I have lobbed over ponds, trees, high traps etc etc. I have even stuck one 3 feet from the pin from the deep woods. The lob wedge is an invaluable club in the arsenal of someone who knows how to use it. not to mention having a go to 75 yard club is pretty nice too.

My swing keeps getting better, now that I have lost my pot belly!! been juicing, and avoiding anything non-organic and not touching GMOs with a 20' pole... 28 and healthiest I have ever felt. Love being able to carry my clubs 36 holes and not be in pain for 2 weeks. 250 to 195 in 2yrs. PS I Love Skiing, and it helped a lot as well.

Driver: 9.5* 260 carry. With a good and I mean GOOD roll out 300-ish, but since I changed to a softer ball am getting a bit less distance, which is not a big deal to me. (unless it's wet out in which case it goes about 260 and dies... which happens quite often here in western Washington...) 3w: 15* 245+ (sometimes if i pure the 3w it goes as far as my driver (which can get frustrating at times) 5w: 18* 225-235 4-iron 215 (not the best at hitting long irons lately, so I usually just hit a soft 5w and leave my 3-iron at home lol, but it is 18*and if i hit it right i can get close to 220) 5-iron 205ish 6-iron 185-195 7-iron 175-180 8 iron 160-165 9-iron 150 PW - 135 (hate this gap, and use a 3/4 9-iron to fill it in) 52* - 115-125 56* - 100 +/- 5 LW 60* - 75 (if i use a full swing, but mostly use for special phil mickelson-like lob shots) Disclaimer* these are my summer distances, in the winter my driver goes about 250-270 if im lucky after rollout (assuming it doesn't plug... damn Seattle weather) and the rest of my clubs go anywhere from 10-25 yds shorter, PS You never said they had to be straight shots :) I can hit big drives into the woods all day if I want LMAO!

Its funny how they say only about ten percent of golfers hit it that long, yet 80%+ of this forum can!! You guys should all be pros!!

I think my favorite course i have played is Poipu Beach Kauai, Hawaii. There are shots across old lava flows, Breathtaking ocean lined holes, Amazingly manicured greens and fairways and the weather is almost always perfect!

Most golf courses have putting greens, and as long as they are public, shouldn't have much problem with you practicing there. I go to a local course 2-5 times a week to practice, and they have a range that is open till 10pm, and a chipping and putting green. I would suggest exploring your area more (unless you live in a small town where you are kind of out of luck), but those "packed" courses on the weekends should still have a putting practice green and chipping green right? I would just go there on the weekend and putt/chip

they should just go ahead and ban it now, people are ALWAYS looking for a crutch of some sort... why not just play the game like it was meant to be played?

yeah, I live in seattle area and we have lots of busy courses where they make each group consist of 4 even if it is 4 singles. It can lead to long rounds, but they want to squeeze every $ from you they can lol

You can use these cheater putters 3 more years whats the fuss? thats 3 years, I bet anyone can save up $150 over 3 years for a new putter, otherwise golf should not be on the top of their hobbies list as it's not a cheap sport...
