If you were hitting off plastic turf and ended up with melted green plastic streaks on the bottoms of your clubs, you should be able to take it off easily. If you can pick it off with a fingernail you can scrub it off with a brush or green pad and some soap and water without damaging the club's finish.

I have found that I get OK contact with my hybrids if I really just ease up on the swing and focus on good ball contact, and let the club do the work. The problem is that most of the time I am using a hybrid, I am in trouble, and I have a tendency to try to murder the ball to get it up on the fairway. I do tend to set up with it like it's a 5 wood, while I know I should set it up like it's a 5 iron; But the lie angle is wrong for either style, and I still tend to slice them because I can't seem to get my swing quite right. Maybe my wrists don't release fast enough, I don't know. I can't wait to pick up a couple of properly fitted hybrids.

I'm drooling over the OGIO Ozone bag, I can't wait until next season to splurge on new clubs/bag/etc...

I like the look of the Cleveland CG12s and the Vokeys... How do you guys test wedges at the store? Just hit them in the launch monitor and try to get a feel for them? I'd be bewildered on how to pick which one would be the best unless I could lob a handful of balls onto a green with a few different wedges.

I love the Epoch tees too, they come in a package of 40 long tees and 10 short tees for use with hybrids or irons off the tee. I keep one of each in my pocket and have been playing with them for a couple of weeks now - the same exact ones. I gave one of them to a friend and he has been using it the same amount of time. In my experience they are truly unbreakable, I laugh when I look in my bag at the 47 tees that are left in there, while the three I've pulled out have shown no signs of breaking any time soon. I doubt I'll ever have to buy tees again.

290 yard par 4, all steeply uphill, slight dogleg right due to several huge pine trees immediately between the tee box and the green. I absolutely boom the driver off the tee, probably the best drive I have EVER hit. Immensely high, slow fade that curves perfectly left to right around the tops of the trees and out of sight. It landed on the fairway less than 30 yards from the front of the green. Proceeded to get excited by my immense power and land a lob wedge pitch short of the green, then two-putt from the fringe for my par. I have no way of figuring how long of a drive that would have been if the hole had been flat instead of steeply uphill, but it probably would have been well over 300 yards.

Long approach for me. I can hit my driver well off the tee and I hit my irons well but when I'm about 220 or more out, that is when, guaranteed, I'm going to flub a 3-wood shot 10 yards or slice a hybrid into the next time zone.

Shot a 97, I had an absolutely terrible first round at 53. I was doubling and tripling holes left and right and even made a 6 on a par 3. 2nd 9 felt nearly as bad but when I added it up I was surprised that i had made a 44 there including two penalty strokes for OB.

Face-balanced putters work for the straight back and through stroke. Toe balanced putters (like Scottys) work for a curved stroke. The easiest way to tell is to balance the shaft on a finger. If the face is level it's face-balanced (heel-toe balanced). If the toe drops, it's toe-balanced. The Black series #3 and Black-i series #7 are face balanced, try those. I think all the rest are toe balanced.

When a male friend duffs a shot... "Next time, try hitting it with your purse." Or "Next time, ask your boyfriend to hit it for you."

My home course is $2, $3, or $5 for small, medium, or large balls. Or $175 a year for a range pass, all the balls you can hit.

I live in a small town right across the water from Victoria, which is the capitol of British Columbia, Canada. We only have one or two radio stations of our own (AM and PBS) so most of our stations that we pick up come from BC. It amazes me that there is just 12 miles of water separating us, but we don't care about hockey at all, and they care about it very much. It's a culture thing. They're always giving hockey game updates on the radio in Canada. Hockey is a regional sport; It's so popular in so much of Canada that it's popular all over Canada. In the USA it's only really popular in a few areas, and the rest of the country couldn't care less, myself included.

bunkers are ruining golf for me pls help!
QWKDTSN replied to Sandwedge74's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I am a high handicapper but I am not bad with bunkers for my handicap level - I've made it out of the bunker on the first try every time so far. Set up with the ball in the middle of your stance and wiggle your feet to dig them into the sand. Point your stance slightly left of target and open the clubface slightly right of target. Estimate your swing speed and hit the sand 1 inch behind the ball. Imagine you are hitting the sand all the way to the hole and don't even think about hitting the ball. FOLLOW THROUGH. I can't stress this enough. Make sure you don't just thump the sand. Follow through. If it's really, really bad, don't even try to hit the pin. Just get your ball out of the bunker the safest way you can - it's better to hit it out to the side and then take another chip up to the green than it is to waste 3 shots hitting it into a steep lip of sand and getting frustrated. -
A Few Questions - Membership price, tee selection

Play from the white tees. The red tees are the women's tees. ("Not that there's anything wrong with that!") -
I don't think you have too much to worry about - what's the hottest that the interior of a car will get, in, say, Arizona in the summer... 130 degrees? I don't think that's enough to weaken the head/shaft bond, but what do I know? Maybe you could get in touch with the manufacturers of your clubs and find out if they recommend against it or if it's something that's even on their radar as a concern.

A Few Questions - Membership price, tee selection
QWKDTSN replied to gsu_paintballer's topic in Golf Talk
It really depends on the quality of the course. My home course is quite good quality, definitely a player's course and not a ritzy country club. With military discount I pay $112 a month. -
Next year I am going to go for a full set of new name-brand irons and I absolutely love the look of Mizuno forged blades. The only problem is, I don't know if I will actually learn to play better by using them, or if I'd just get frustrated and switch to something forgiving. It probably would just be an ego thing to own some...

Thanks ettsn! I have been wanting to add a chronograph to the stable for some time now but I've held out due to other interests, the economy, etc. I've been eyeing the Sinn 103 since I can't afford a Breitling. Looks like you have a great collection!!

I have a Sinn 856 and a DOXA Military Sharkhunter 750T. I had a bunch of other watches that I've since sold since those two were my nicest and got the most wrist time.

YES! Tiffany C-groove putter review (LONG! with pics)
QWKDTSN replied to QWKDTSN's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Respectfully, I disagree. A person came into my thread and posted, in essence, "You should have bought a Rife putter. Yes putters will not roll the ball as nice. There is a reason Champion tour winners use Rife." This person made these statements in two seperate posts, the second of which seemed even more argumentative than the first. These two posts were this member's FIRST and ONLY posts on this board. Now I'm not saying I'm a long-standing and outstanding member of this board, but the attitude with which these posts was delivered was less than classy IMO, and they were your only posts. Like I said, I wasn't calling you out as being a troll. Merely pointing out that that is the sort of thing that trolls do. Actually, 'troll' means 'trolling for an argument', which you've successfully hooked. Now aren't we having fun? Mods, feel free to lock this thread as you feel appropriate. I just wanted to post a nice helpful review for anyone who may be interested - I know I absolutely love reading the gear reviews that the owners of this forum routinely post on the main page. I am sure many members do as well. I thought it'd be nice to give the other members some more 'unofficial' reviews to read. This sort of thing is a big turn-off. Next time I won't even bother. -

All right, points made. I was just trying to post a beneficial review for anyone who might be interested. Your first posts were disrespectful to the time and effort I put in to take the pictures and describe my experience. I've ruffled some feathers on this board too, so I'm trying to make up for it by contributing something meaningful. -
I have the same problem with topping my hybrids, and when I do get good contact I usually make a wicked slice. I think it may be due in part to them not being properly fitted for me and my swing, but I know I can't blame the clubs.
