What make of glove do you wear...
ECT replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've used Footjoy, Etonic, and Lady Fairways. The best fit for me though, is Calloway. -
Anybody else got big plans for the 4th of July weekend?
ECT replied to GaijinGolfer's topic in The Grill Room
The 4th being on Friday means 3 (instead of just 2) days of golfing! Don't know what I'll do for food...maybe pick up some nice steak tips and salad... -
Do you prefer Classic or Sneaker style golf shoes?
ECT replied to -Mini-'s topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I usually wear the classic styles (have 4 pairs) but haven't found any that offer the support and comfort like my old pair of sneakers do. So I bought me a pair of the Adidas Powerband Sport Golf shoes. These look like sneakers and they feel like them too. I just got them today and can't wait to try them out on the course. I also have to have orthotics in the left shoe and these are roomy enough for them! I really hope these work out....they have good reviews and also have pink stripes on em! -
Along the same lines as the commercial, "How do you mark your Titleist?" Whenever I find a lost ball, I always like to see how that person had marked their ball. Some folks mark with their initials, dots, colors etc. So how do you mark your ball? I'll go first....I usually mark mine with a flower....I like to use purple or pink permanent marker.

I was using Bridgestone e5+, until yesterday. Hubby and I were out practicing and he found a couple of Titleist NXT Extreme. Told me to try it out and I love them! I can actually feel the ball compress off of my driver face!

Doesn't surprise me that C got eliminated. She really didn't play well against Lori or Sophie. Don't know if this is any indication of who won, but there is a part of the BBK commercial where all 12 are standing with the beach/sunset behind them, so we see silhouette of players. And then they leave one by one (this part is speeded up)....but it sure looks like Sophie is the last one to leave....anyone tape/tivo this and can tell me, please? Thanks!

Skydiving, Ice dancing, Hula...oops, that's not a sport!

I for one love shopping for golf clothes! Everything has to match/coordinate. Right now those plaid bermudas are in so I have several pairs, not to mention skimmers, capris, shorts, long Dockers as well hats and socks. For holiday tournaments that the weekend member league my hubby and I are in, I usually email everyone that we are going to wear a particular color(s). Everyone loves wearing Red/White/Blue on Memorial and Independence Days. Forgot to add.....I have one rain/wind pants and several rain jackets in various colors depending on my rainy day mood! Also several polar fleece jackets and pants for winter golfing!

Born and raised on Oahu but never started golfing until 4 years ago. I go to Hawaii every year to visit with family and for business. I try to golf as many courses as I can. This year hope to golf at Ko'olau Golf Course and since the youngest DD is getting married at Turtle Bay Resort, we hope to get in a round at the Turtle Bay Palmer. Lots of nice courses but my fave one is Luana Hills Country Club on Oahu, Hawaii http://www.luanahills.com/ The back 9 is set in the valley among a rainforest. The front 9 set atop a hill with a view of windward Oahu. Course is set among the Ko'olau Mountain range....lush, green, fragrant and tight fairways. My avatar (Kapolei GC) is one I took as the plane I was on was on approach to Honolulu International Airport.

Didn't get to watch the show in its entirety (fell asleep) but I did see this part and I also disagree with the decision too. Why the other players didn't stand up and say something is beyond me! Or maybe they did and it got edited out?

Wow, what a great Open! It was so exciting to watch. I'm happy for Tiger that he won and Rocco played a fine game! Tiger's daughter is such a cutie! She looks just like her Nana...tiger's mum.

All I can offer here is my experience. I found out that I have rotary scoliosis 33 years ago. I found that I had a leg-length difference of almost 3/4 inch then and my surgeon then told me that surgery was not an option. Its been years since I've been to an orthopedic surgeon. Last month I experienced pain in my left hip (my short side)...it started out a a dull pain and in the mornings I would get up and I would be stiff. Went to my GP, found that I had hip bursitis and was given a cortisone shot which relieved the pain immediately....since then I haven't experienced any pain in my left hip. My GP said that I didn't need to go to an OS (orthopedic surgeon) unless I need surgery. He also said that I need to get heel lifts and can easily get them in the stores and that if I had any more probs that he's prescribe physical therapy. I've been searching at all the local stores and can only find heel cushions, which I've been reading, are not the same as heel lifts. After much researching, I found that heel lifts are only available via prescription, so I quickly made an appt with an OS. Currently, I'm wearing heel cushion temporarily until I could see the OS and still wear them (in my street shoes as well as my golf shoes) until I get the lift. I started golfing 4 years ago and I suspect that all this weight shifting in my downswing (from my long side to my short side) is what caused my hip bursitis in my left hip. Anyways, last week I had an appt with an OS and not only did he xray my spine, but my hip as well to make certain that I didn't have arthritis in my hips. He also measured the two curvatures of my spine and gave me two prescriptions....one for physical therapy for learning stretching exercises for my back and hips. The other for a toe/heel lift in my left shoe. I'm hoping that the shoe lift will work so that I don't have to build up all the soles of my left shoes. I'm so relieved I went to an OS.....I found one that listens to my concerns and understands my desire to continue playing golf and walking. I go back for a check-up in a month.

Have you ever recorded your swing?
ECT replied to Buschmaster's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I just had a video/analysis lesson yesterday. I thought it was well worth the $90 as I had absolutely no idea I was swinging the way I was! I can see now why my scores were so inconsistent! I was videotaped swinging first my iron front and back views and then my driver front and back views. Using the Computer Coach Jr. Pro software, my swing was compared to (via split screen) to a tour pro. I found that my spine angle was correct at address and impact. As was my shaft and shoulder plane and I kept my head down during my swing. I also found that my stance was too wide for my (short) height. I was losing alot of power in my swing due to the "chicken arms" on my downswing. My whole right side would collapse at the top of my backswing causing me to slide and I had no wrist rotation. After having all of these pointed out to me, my pro took me back to the driving range and bascially.....I have a new swing! I went through every club in my bag with this new swing but its gonna take a while to get used to it....the joys of golf! -
yep, its annoying but I just smile tell them politely and they leave me alone.

I'm new here! Been reading the posts for a couple of weeks before I decided to post. I just started golfing 4 years ago. Took it up as the kids are grown and out of the house......well, one that is. I really love it....I take private lessons and play on two ladies leagues in the afternoons. I also play with the club members on the weekends. The hubby has been playing since he was a youngster and I love that we have something in common and can play golf together when we go away on vacay. His handicap fluctuates between 0-3, I'm very proud that he is a good player and I love getting tips and lessons from him as well. I have two beautiful grandchildren (3 & 1.5 yrs) and cannot wait to bring them to the driving range/putting green when they are a bit older. For now, they practice putting in our basement putting green (carpet). Their dad has brought them each a set of clubs and they hit balls in their yard. I also love photography and love photographing golf courses that I have golfed at. I'm glad to be here and love reading all the posts!

Hehehe, great rant! On the practice putting green. Total stranger, no clue who he was, just minding my own biz..... Him: Ya know, I have a David Ledbetter's DVD that has great tips for putting. For instance, for what you're doing.... Me interrupting: I'm currently taking lessons from the head pro here. Him: But its David Ledbetter... Me interrupting again: Well then, I hope you do well. Being a woman I get alot of advice offered when I'm on the course from total strangers. I just tell them, "yep I'm already taking lessons from the head pro here", and that always shuts them up.

That's Jake Shimabokuro on the uke and he's a genius!! Born and raised in Hawaii I took ukelele lessons in school....its true, its easier than the guitar cuz of only 4 strings.

Same here! I enjoy play with people off all ages as long as they are friendly. Several years ago I accompanied my husband when he was qualifying for the Public Links. In his group there was a 16year old. The young man's mother walked the entire 18 standing out of his sight behind trees. I was impressed with his maturity in the game. Can't recall if he qualified or not but I did make a point to go up to him and tell him how well he played.

This is my 4 year golfing and I've had several breakthroughs.... Finally got the putter that I had been lusting after for 3 years....it makes me feel so confident over the ball and thus I putt better....enjoy putting too! A couple of weeks ago I started scoring in the mid to high 90's. Last weekend I walked the front and had 5 pars....it felt easy and relaxing. Everything felt in sync....I didn't even have to think about much about hitting or how I was gonna hit the ball. I just hit the darn ball and it went where I wanted it to go. I decided to ride the back 9 (wrong!) and was rushed in putting my cart away. The owner came up and told our group we were behind so I felt rushed since the 10th. The entire back 9 I felt rushed and didn't do so well and only managed 1 par....oh well....maybe this weekend I'll have another breakthrough....
