  1. For the beginner I would check out Indian Palms. It's a little ways away in between indio and La quinta but if you golf in the morning, which I recommend, you can have a nice lunch in La quinta. I'd check their website out. It has 27 holes that aren't to difficult but the course is always in great shape. It's also good for a beginner I think because if you go early in the morning during the weekday you are pretty much alone. A lot of the residents are older and don't get out early in the morning and even just during the week.
  2. What area of the Valley?
  3. Nike Tour Sasquatch. Everything you asked for and some more. At least give it a look. DGW has it for a good price in plenty of different color combos.
  4. Tennis is awesome for golf. Really helps with your core and hand eye coordination. I've played tennis all my life and the last few years have picked up golf and in no way is tennis detrimental.
  5. Check out the Adams Puglielli 2009. 50 bucks for an awesome wedge @ RBG
  6. Par 3 tee shot. 3 hybrid from elevated tee to elevated green since an arroyo(glorified ditch) runs through the middle of the hole. No idea how but I hit my tee shot straight down, my ball hits the concrete part of the arroyo 130 yards away and bounces straight up landing on the green 10 feet from the hole. The elevation from the arroyo to the green is about 50 feet. Needless to say even with that luck I two put for par.
  7. I use zero friction tees not because I think they'll help me hit the ball better but because for me, they are impossible to break. It's nice only have to carry a couple tees in your pocket and not have to go searching in the bag like I had to do almost every hole when I used wood tees. I'm sure other people don't have that problem but for me zero friction tees are a conveniance that I've gotten used too.
  8. Along with the already mentioned topflite gamers I would check out the Wilson Staff Zips. For how soft they are they are pretty darn long. As with the gamers you can get them for a song. I'm a college student as well and am in the same boat with not wanting to spend a fortune on balls. Hope you find what you're looking for.
  9. If you're looking for some irons that are forgiving yet workable, I would look at some Wilson Ci7's. I'm not a good golfer by any means but I can work them left or right if I feel I need too. They are straight as straight can be if thats what you're going for as well. As for distance control, I don't believe there are any irons that will necessarily help with that. If you hit the ball solid and your swing is repeatable then distance should be somewhat predictable. If you're coming from the stand point where a more forgiving club will narrow your dispersion... I can see that, but distance control is still in the swing. I won't say anything about steel or graphite since that comes down to feel, swing speed etc. and I don't know what is comfortable to you. Hope this post helps and take my advice for what it's worth (might not be much lol). If you are looking for a nice workable and yet forgiving set of irons, I would definitely check out the Ci7's. It doesn't hurt that you can find new sets on the bay for close to 300 bucks.
  10. Small world but my first two years of University were in Greenwood SC and my roommate was from Cheraw. Visted there a few times on weekends and Sonic still is where all the kids chill after a game. But to answer the thread. Skyline High School - Sammamish WA. Class of '05 Go Spartans
  11. x2, Studio Design is what I thought of(what I used today too).
  12. I would definitely sell it or trade it for what you want exactly. At most you'll be looking at 50 bucks more or even maybe an even trade for something that fits your game and specs. Either way you are one lucky guy.
  13. Well I just started playing in May, but here's my equipment so far. Driver: Driver is the only club in the bag that I haven't changed or added a back up too. It's and R7 460 9.5*. Bought it almost two years ago when my baseball teamates and I were bored during a tournament and there was a driving range at the Hotel we were staying at. Love it when I hit it straight. Doing more of that now since I replaced the stock shaft with a Grafalloy ProLaunch Red S. A Nickent 3dx Tour Square is on the way to experiment with. Fairway Woods: My first was a hand me down from my dad, I'm not even sure what it was so I decided to pick up an Taylor Made R5 3 wood. One of the best stock shafts I've ever swung. Can swing as hard as I can and I know where the head is going to end up, right behind the ball. Hybrids: Well the first set of irons I bought were Adams A2's. So I have a A2 3 and 4 hybrid which I take out to the course if I'm not feeling my swing. I've added both a Adams Idea Pro 3 and 4 and love them. They really let me swing out of my you know what. Irons: The hand me downs my dad gave me were some Tommy Armour 700 series. He also let me take a incomplete set of 5-9 Nike Blades. I quickly bought the Adams's A2's so I could learn on them. After a few range sessions though I started hitting the Nike Blades just as well as the A2's. Probably because when I was around 9 my dad had me hit some of his cut down blades for a winter. I'm just about to get some Cobra Carbon CB's to replace the A2's as my off day set. Wedges: I ended up getting Vokey 200 series wedges in 48*, 52 bent to 51*, 54* and a 58* spin milled. All oil can and all coked, not because I think rust will help spin but to get rid of the rust because I like a more uniformed look than sporadic oil can or rust on the clubs.(hello run on sentence) Putters: My dad gave me his original anser. Love the thing, been using it for my whole life which was only when I rode along with my dad when I was a kid to putt around after my dad reached the green. I refused to actually swing a golf club until 3 months ago because I didn't want to mess my baseball stroke up, except for that one winter of course. I did spring for a Scotty Studio Design 3.5 that I got for a great price. Beautiful gun blue finish and the feel is just what you would expect from a milled putter. Bag: The ogio that my dad gave me as a hand me down. Ball: I have hit Pro V1's and still have some but just switched to Nike One Blacks and love them. They stop on a dime and go as straight as my swing will let them.
  14. April 9th- Hugh Hefner- enough said Peter Gammons- since baseball is my first love, thought that was cool Jenna Jameson- nuff said Seve Ballesteros- Token Golfer. Nothing token about his game though.
  15. From the time I could walk through my sophomore year of College I was a baseball player but chronic hamstring pulls and strains made me turn my focus towards school. When I went home this summer break my dad let me pick a full set of clubs out from his "collection". So I've been playing since the beginning of May. I think he knew I would get addicted and would rather have me wasting my time playing golf instead of doing more destructive things since I've never really had free time before.
  16. Yeah GPS is a good thing to point out. I'm pretty sure though that the Touch Diamond is GPS ready and has google maps already preloaded. Basically what the iphone has. Not sure if that's good or bad.
  17. I play the Nike Blades. They are surprisingly easy for me too hit and I can honestly say they aren't the reason my hc is so high (thank my driving and putting for that).
  18. I'm not from Manitoba but an ex gf's family was from swan lake/river. Her parents still had a house right by the lake. Great place for water sports. I wasn't playing golf then so no idea how the courses up there were like. Awesome place to visit though.
  19. Treo 700wx, Gets the job done even though it is on the bulky side.
  20. The HTC Touch Diamond will not have the full slide out keyboard but Sprint will be getting the HTC Touch Raphael(codename, I think it will be called Touch Pro). To answer the OP, I would definitely go for the HTC Diamond. I've been reading up on both phones you mentioned and it seems the Instinct has been suffering from slow processor speed(that could have just been the phones pre-released to the press so don't quote me) and a not so great camera. As a phone though the instinct has great clarity and reception (I guess that's what phones are for?). The Touch Diamond to me, just seems like a more complete package; great phone, camera, opera browser, internal memory like pjsnyc mentioned and instant messenger capable. Either way though I don't think you can go wrong since the instinct is priced very aggressively.
  21. It sounds like you have the endurance down so at least once a week I would start running pyramid intervals on a track. 100m,200m,400,800,mile, 800m, 400,200,100m to work on your speed relative to the 1.5 mile time you want to improve upon. It's my least favorite work out but it seems to work the best for my endurance speed other than hills.
  22. I put the musical natural sign(wish I knew the html code) at the end of the nike swoosh. It's been my nickname for as long as I can remember.
  23. Well I think you might have to specify since there have been so many Rose Bowl QB's from UW. All heroes btw lol As for this season, all I ask is that we're .500 and that Locker doesn't get hurt. Far cry from the good ole days(mind you I'm only 21).
  24. One team no one has mentioned is the D-Backs. They could use some power. Though Sexon already left them in free agency prior to 05. Not that it matters much. Platoon him at first against lefties and any team would be set. I think his OPS is above 1.000 against southpaws.
  25. ML320. Have had it since I passed my drivers test. Great car. I don't think I'll ever be able to get rid of it. I guess you could say it has some sentimental value.
