  1. I was yanking a lot to the left with the old shaft. This was a resonably new club TM sent me as the face on my old 510TP caved in. I did not have the control I did with the old speeder shaft. The shaft they are putting in was matched to my swing speed and preferred ball flight (straight favoring faid if missed) with shaft frequency. (I think that is how he put it) He is doing something to the tip to make it between x-stiff and stiff- not truly a x stiff flex. Trust me when I say this. If I needed a rubber bending shaft to get more control, I would install it. It has nothing to do with anything but wanting to straighten out my tee ball.
  2. Do you happen to work for Rick...?
  3. I have a Taylor Made R5 TP, with the proprietary Mitsubishi Diamana shaft in it. I decided to stop by a club fitter for a range session fitting and launch monitor session. After hitting balls, and judging launch angles, etc, we did some shaft testing. I was shocked to find the "Stiff" flex in my driver was actually just a notch above "Regular" as per the Taylor Made/ Diamana Frequency Specs. My fitter told me it was not uncommon in "stock" shafts to have enormous discrepancies in the stock shaft flexes, regardless of the label on the shaft. It baffled me as to why this stiff shaft was not enough ( my swing speed was averaging 115) to hold the clubhead with my swing. Problem solved- New Accra MP-4 SC-65 tip 1", 45 1/4" long is being loaded in it now. Can't wait to get to the course. Results from launch monitor- 111- 118 MPH club head speed 158- 165 MPH ball speed 10.5*- 12.8* Launch Angle 2770 RPM Ball Spin
  4. Maybe I missed the big announcement when you switched away from the TM Black. I'm shocked, as I thought you were gonna ban me when I posted my dislike for them....
  5. I've always been told at my course to fill in the divots with the sand/ seed mixture. The most safe practice is to ask the proshop before teeing off which they prefer.
  6. From PGA Tour Site: " One point will be awarded for every $1,000 earned at the four majors in 2007 and TOUR events in 2008, with double points for the 2008 majors. Opposite-field events will be worth only a half-point for every $1,000. The other major change is that Azinger will get four captain's picks instead of two. But it was unclear when he would make those picks. " Am I reading this right that only majors will matter next year in terms of Ryder Cup points? If this is the case, I'm all for it. The selection process should be about the 2008 season, and who is hot then. What are opposite-field events anyway?
  7. You realize "hicks" is a derogatory term, right? If you are going to categorize all southerners or those with southern accents as "hicks", your apology is not accepted. You have every right to not like golfers or anyone for any reason, including their accent. Do not, however funny you think you are being, lump all southerers in to a category of stupid hicks. On Topic- Ben Crane takes the vote. How long can it take to play. I followed him around at the Open some, and he just kills you with how long it takes to swing. I'm also tired of Furyk's putting. Stand over the ball, walk away, etc.........
  8. I've always thought that rust helped to give more spin, since the uneven face of rust between the grooves would grip the ball more than smooth between the grooves. Just an observation from someone who has never defaced currency.
  9. I'm glad you've decided, for whatever motivation or reason, to change your ways. Here are a few bullet points to remember: 1. Look like a golfer- don't show up looking like a slob or unkempt. Act like a golfer. You are not at a football game, you are participating in a gentleman's game- act like a gentleman. 2. Never stand remotely close to where someone is hitting. Try to avoid being in there line of sight or peripheral vision any time they are swinging a club or putting. If you find you are standing where you are visible, remain motionless. 3. Don't make a noise while someone is playing any shot. 4. If you disturb the earth on a golf course, fix it. Tee's, fairways, and greens- If you make a mark, fix the mark. 5. If someone gets a better score than you on a hole, they get to hit before you on the next hole. If someone is further away from you on the green, they get to putt before you. If your boss has ANY putt inside 3'- give it to him. J/K 6. Never walk in the line of someones putt. It is really rude to leave your footprints or spike marks where someone has to putt through them. I'm sure there are more, but if you follow these rules, nobody will call you incompetent on the course. Playing the game in a courteous way from this point out will help to atone for previous stupidity on the course. HAVE FUN.
  10. I have to agree with Everardo on this one. I use them exclusively, and travel quite a bit. I have never once had a problem with them, actually the opposite. I have flown in to Chicago to rent my full size car, and they were out. Without a moments hesitation, they bumped me in to a CTS convertable at no upcharge price. It took about 3 minutes before I was hitting 90 MPH in that ride.
  11. Interesting! Gone are the days of playing in the club. Seems like a lot of work when you could just buy a spin milled vokey and get the same amount (if not more) of bite.
  12. If you are gonna throw that Scotty Cameron away in protest let me know.
  13. Go with the GTO. It gives you so many shots.
  14. I'm just scared I will start laughing looking down at either of these... or get laughed at on the first tee. But that is a large contact zone on the face. Had to put in a pic of something that looked good...................
  15. I recently got a 60-04 Vokey with the GTO grind from them. It is an unreal club. I love the way I can open or close the clubface with no change in bounce angles. I'd take a look at this grind if you are gonna do it. Get them to hit your grooves too. Talk about some bite..... If anyone is looking at these guys to do some work for you, I give my full endorsement as a guy who LOVES his clubs, and who has no affiliation with them. I wonder if their "thermobonding" process is as advertised for drivers.
  16. I'm still very interested in playing this event. I was telling a buddy about it (scratch) and he was also really interested. Looking like maybe a good foresome. I'll e-mail you tomorrow.
  17. Thank you, Dave for your articles and "wisdom" here on the message boards. Good luck on finding balance of time and raising the youngster. I'm sure you'll find a way to still play a few rounds won't you....... ?
  18. You're just saying that because the Bears are gonna take a whippin this weekend. Bitter, bitter!
  19. NOT A CHANCE. I've known every x-mas present beforehand, too. Not much for surprises.
  20. Maybe having the course record will soften the blow of the possibility of the worst day in UVA sports history. There is a possibility of Duke getting it done..... GO HOOS!
  21. Unreal. Cover- broken foot. Poor Reggie Bush when he lands the cover next year.
  22. Shameless!!!!! ***1 I am new to coffee, and finally received my free unit. I can't get more than a holf a cup, and when i push the large cup thingy, it tastes like water. What am I missing? ***1 - Denotes sarcasm.
  23. I got lucky enough to play a little known private course near Wilmington, NC named Eagle Point . I've played the Cascades, a few of the the Pinehurst courses and a good share of the Southern Pines and Myrtle Beach courses, and nothing compares to this treasure. All caddied. Extremely private. We warmed up on the par 3 course, and then walked 18 of the best golfing conditions I've ever seen. The last 5 holes are the 5 hardest finishing holes I've ever played ending in a 586 yard par 5 with trouble everywhere, and the rest of the course compares. There is NOTHING gimicky, just fair, straight forward difficult golf the way it is meant to be played. 7170 yards. 75.5/ 146 Ouch
  24. I do, and they claim your handicap on the site is a legit USGA handicap. I like the stats kept and the ease of entering scores. I have used it for about a year now, and have no complaints.
  25. Let me clarify- I'd like a place to post and review upcoming tourneys in the area. For instance- there is an upcoming cancer benefit tournament in the area that gives out unreal prizes like drivers, bags, trips to Pinehurst, full iron sets, etc... (p.s. Curtis Strange is gonna be there) If someone in VA or NC wanted to come or find out how to get involved- the info is there. If there is an amateur event in Central VA and someone knew about it and posted it- I'd be interested. I'm not looking for a golf friend finder, I'm looking to read about and play in more events coming up in my area, as well as help to promote any I'm involved with. If I end up meeting a Trap member and getting a golfing buddy out of it- even better.
