  1. Sounds like ball placment was off that day. It happens. I played a round last year and a swear to mother I only hit about 5 good iron shots, all the rest I shanked to the right. Had no idea what I was doing wrong and couldnt fix it the whole round so blew it off as a crappy day and when I went back the next day everything was fine again. Just weird but I believe I was standing a bit to close to the ball that day.
  2. yes try and drive the par 4's. If you can keep it straight then go for it why wouldnt you? But like all the other posts it seems like that isnt your problem your irons and short game is, so head to the range and putting green and start putting in the hours.
  3. Just wrong and would hate to play with someone like that.
  4. I also think that there may be steriod use in golf but not very much I would guess. I think that it is a sport that takes way more skill than strength and if you have the skill you dont need the strength and if you dont have the skill then all the strength in the world aint gunna help.
  5. HAHA now that's funny. Arnold didn't use steriods LMAO.. Of course he did and he admitted it, but they werent illegal in those days so really it is totally different.
  6. Wow I cant even believe people would make up these things about Tiger.
  7. Gotta say those machines are crap, I was in Golf Town and buying new clubs last summer and the machine read my club head speed at 75mph MAX. seriously im 35 and in the real world hitting my driver 250-260 and my 7iron 150. So I would say those numbers dont add up so dont believe the numbers in the store. But is it possible your max club head speed isnt when your contacting the ball? Maybe your max speed happens before or after contact and its slow during contact....Just a thought
  8. a 56 degree or PW. and hit the green about 80% of the time i would bet

    Tipping

My home course that I play on is a resort course that does all the fancy stuff like this but I only tip on certain occasions, but for 99% of the time I don't put my bag down where they can get them to wipe down and stuff. I let the tourists that play tip them.
  10. I personaly don't see how a trimmer waist would help promote a better swing unless it is a huge drop in weight like 100lbs. I myself have been finally getting back into shape and have lost 10lbs and will hopefully loose another 40lbs before July to look like a golfing spartan!! But I don't think it will effect my swing too much.
  11. Think he is just taking is time untill he is fully healed and of course really enjoyng the time with the family. They are expecting another child soon so enjoying this time and will be back stronger than ever. It is a good thing for his game and his family
  12. I don't think there is anything wrong with buying a good game improvment irons or even a bigger headed Driver to help out when learning. Yes you can do the same thing with normal equipment but it can make the game more enjoyable when the equipment can aid in playing a better game, even if it is only a few shots a round. It doesnt mean the player isnt still going to struggle most of the time but a combination of proper equipment and PROPER instruction can go a long way.
  13. I did notice some clubs like my Driver can be quite loud, but would never think it would do permanent damage? Can't be worse than the everyday noise we all deal with. And to start this worry off from a 50 something year old having hearing loss? Come on getting to that age there will be hearing loss regardless of what your doing, so to give some blame to a golf club....PSST. If your worried about it that much a bag or box of in ear foam earplugs are cheap but then how an you hear the guy on the next fairway yell FORE!!
  14. Equipment reviews are cool and are something good to read and look at while sitting on the crapper, but I think the average person will buy clubs just like they buy everthing else cause they like they way it looks.
  15. get it on the green in 2 or close enough that I can chip it close enough for a tap in birdie, just have to give myself a chance to putt for birdie
  16. vitamin water mostly and an occasional pop or iced tea
  17. hehe I probobly think your after a player iron or blade as they say. I got the Steel CCI last year when they put them on clearence to get ready for the new victory line. And I tell you if the new model are anything like the CCI's they would be very nice. I didn't want the forged so got the Steel CCI and they are forgiving but are very nice and are somewhat workable and do give you good feedback for a cavity back iron. I for one think the NIKE Victory line is the way to go if your looking for something new and exciting.
  18. I officially say Iv'e been playing 2 years. and my best score was 74
  19. LOL, coming on here and asking a thousand people with every make and model imaginable which iron set to get hehe. funny Anyways I think you dhould get the new NIKE reds
  20. reading is good but video is better, check out the videos and videojug.com under sports and golf like ks8829 said. Great vids
  21. Is there sucha a thing as a chart that shows how far the ball should carry when you hit a certain club head speed? I am just curious because when I was buying my new clubs last summer I was at the Golf Town store in Edmonton South and when swinging in the practice room or whatever it called the computer was saying my swing speed was 74MPH. and I think that is a little low for a guy like me. When playing I hit my driver 250+ and have hit it almost 300 a few times. And I just don't think that is possible with that swing speed. I think it is really in the 90's somewhere and their swing speed monitor is off. I have never got my speed measured other than that time so not really sure if this may be true or not, any thoughts?
  22. my new set started at a 4 iron. So I got the 3 hybrid 20 degree. I like it!! good out of the rough and bad spots as well as giving me a forgiving shot. How can you go wrong?
  23. Gotta say i had 1 really close hole in one on a par 3, that was pretty exciting but one nice shot that I made was on a par 5. I had a nice 250 yard drive over the centre sandtrap onto the right centre of the fairway and about 200 yards away from the green then used my 20 degree hybrid to put it within 8 inches of the hole for a tap in eagle..that was pretty nice.
  24. I have the Nike CCI's with a metal stiff shaft and love them! They provide great feedback. Very sweet when you hit them good but still let you know when you miss the sweet spot. Never playe4d the R7 but figure what ever way you go you will be happy.
  25. Im never really sure how many times a season people have to play to be considred in a poll or things like this. Since I was about 25 or so I played maybe 3 or maybe 6 times a season, then 2 years ago I finally had the time and bought a membership and played 60 times a season. So when did I acually start playing 10 years ago or 2 years ago? when I played only like 3 or so times a season May to Sept, I would average 100 i guess get into the high 90's sometimes (hcap 20). After playing my first season with a membership and plaing 3 times a week I would shoot low 90's and a few times get into the mid 80's (hcap 16). Last season I was shooting in the low 80's and a handfull of times was in the mid to high 70's and got my handicap to 9.5. So I think anyone who is starting out and taking the times to practice and hit the range and play a couple times a week should be somewhere in the low 100's and getting into the 90 sometimes. I think your on the write track.
