  1. Never been to an event before but am going to the Open at Bethpage this year.
  2. hockey. I doubt Tiger skates very much.
  3. 19, 22, and 24 degree hybrids. They'll forgive bad swings way better than long irons.
  4. don't really remember when I first broke 100, but the 3rd or 4th time I ever played golf on a regulation 9-hole course i shot 48 (i think i played from the red tees, not exactly sure as it was 5 years ago) , but that was after I'd played on a par 3 course a bunch.
  5. The majority of people who have voted on this have either only lived through Tiger's era, or, because they have been immersed in everything Tiger for the last 10+ years, their view of what jack did is diminished, so most people lean toward Tiger whether they mean to or not.
  6. About 285-295, but I do live a mile above sea level.
  7. The NV will give you a low flight, had it on my old driver, too low for me though ( and too stiff, stiff flex plays more like a xflex, so good choice on getting the regular, it'll probably play closer to a stiff than most reg. flex shafts)
  8. It could be your clubs. If your 5-wood shaft has (a lot) more torque than your driver shaft, that would cause it to twist and close your 5-wood clubface where the shaft on your driver wouldn't twist as much and leave the face open. I don't know very much about shaft physics, so I'm not really sure on this.
  9. If someone can win a major, a couple of regular tour events, and finish high in the FedEx Cup, maybe. Or if someone wins the last 2 majors. It'll be tough to top Tigers's half-year though.
  10. I give Tiger all the credit in the world ( he is the best) but you have to wonder if Tiger was playing against the guys Jack did, guys like Trevino, Palmer, Player, Watson, if they would give him (Tiger) all the second chances his challengers today do ( for ex., I wonder if those players from Jack's era would've missed that little putt on 13 on Sunday that Rocco missed. Sometimes, and this doesn't happen often, it seems that Tiger is able to win because of all the second chances he gets, how his challengers don't seem to seal the deal very often. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this win (or any major victory) for Tiger was easy or lucky (seriously, that would just be stupid), but when you give Tiger an second chances, he will take advantage of them almost 100% of the time, especially in majors.
  11. as of right now, Jack's better, just because he has more tournament wins and majors. In the long run, though, I have no doubt Tiger will become the best (barring injury) , but until he has the wins, Jack gets the nod.
  12. players irons
  13. Snedeker did something like this at the Masters, chipped on the green because there was rough between his ball and the hole; however, he was trying to win a major. In this case, the golfer wasn't breaking the rules exactly, but since it was a private club that can kick people off just because they feel like it, the ranger had the right to do what he did, so really, neither side is right and neither is wrong.
  14. In a golf digest interview Sean Fister said he drove a downwind 512 par 5 once and had a 12 foot putt, but he's a world long drive champion so I can't really see it from anyone exept if it were a big dogleg hole. Unless they hit the cartpath and bounce it allll the way there.
  15. The best thing you could do is go get a lesson from your local pro, then, if the way they teach you works for you, stick to that system and use it for every bunker shot. A huge part of good sand play is confidence. If you approach every bunker shot thinking you'll get your ball out and on the green ( and you have a decent sand swing) then chances are good you will get it on the green. On the other hand, if you have negative thoughts in your head, you have almost no chance of hitting it well.
  16. Oversized grips for irons/woods are made by all of the big grips companies, in most all of the better-selling/most popular models (golf pride has oversized grips in DD2, dual durometer, tour velvet, tour wrap, for example).
  17. First of all, Tiger saying this doesn't make me hate him or anything, but I've played hockey since I was in the first grade and that comment really made me mad, and I'm sure it had the same effect on the millions of hockey fans out there. Hockey and golf might both be 'niche' sports but I'd say that fans of the big three sports (baseball, football, basketball) are more inclined to watch hockey than golf. I realize that this is only one comment by Tiger about hockey and doesn't neccesarily represent his view of the sport, but really, Tiger's should be smart enough not to say that. All in all though, It's not really that big of a deal.
  18. No idea what grip size to use, but the Tour Velvet Cord is a very tacky grip, extra good if you're playing in wet conditions.
  19. I don't have any experience with it but checked out their website. Just looks like something that might work for a certain type of person, but there doesn't seem to be any thing revolutionary that you couldn't learn from your local PGA professional.
  20. don't know what shaft will give you more distance, but the fit-on red will hit it lower than the gold. With more torque, the gold could help if you have a fade/slice. If you have slow swing speed, the gold might be better because of the flex point and lighter weight. Red maybe if speed is faster for same reasons.
  21. Of those you have listed, the ping anser. But, as was mentioned before, check out the Odyssey XG's.
  22. surfer 154: those big berthas look like they are either 1994's or 1996's, on callawayprewoned the '96 very goods are going for $295 to $350 (though thats 3-PW) and the '94 very goods are $330 to $300 (again, thats 3-PW) those prices are probably higher than the price you'll get on the ones you're looking at
  23. Looks like just back/shoulders are slumped a little. Can make it harder to turn around spine. Knees bent maybe just a little too much. Other than that posture stuff, your swing looks pretty good, though swing tempo could be smoothed out a bit and effort bought down to maybe 80% on average swing, as mentioned before, although I don't know if that is 80% for you, it just looks like you're using a lot of effort. About hooking it; I'd say it's way better than pulling/slicing, at least you're not hitting from the top.
  24. maybe young black people see golf as an elite, upper-class sport. as a result, they think they are not able to try it so never get started in he first place. I really have no idea why Tiger is the only black man on tour, especially when players of other ethnicities are becoming more and more prevalent. Just a thought.
  25. just off green = 8/9iron chip and run farther off = 52/56 wedge chip and run even farther away or green above ball = 56/60 pitch with some run-out if im beyond 30 yards and green front is open, use PW and pitch it, land before green and bounce, run out to hole
