  1. This happens to me from time to time - always on the range, never during a round. I attribute it to bad tempo as I get in a rush at the range. And it almost always starts with a wedge for me. What I do is take my driver cover and place it just outside the ball and I work on swinging through the ball without hitting the cover. If anything, this helps me slow down a bit because I don't want to hit my cover out onto the range! I've also had a period where when I was shanking, I just hit my driver for 10-15 minutes. Does the same thing as above, gets me to slow down (I know I'm not in a good tempo when I'm slicing so I just keep hitting the driver). Good luck, it definitely is a feeling of being lost in despair when it happens!
  2. 87 (45/42). 3rd time playing this course, best was 98 last October. We started off on 10. Didn't look good, double bogeyed 10 & 11 but pulled it together to go +1 to finish the back. I then doubled 1 & 2 but what killed me was doubling par 3 7th. Ah well... I really need to get my tee shots in the fairway more. Last 5 rounds I've been 40% on fairways hit. Yuck.
  3. (2) Nike Dri-Fit gloves, box of prior gen ProV1 My next trip is going to be nice though :)
  4. Close for me except for driver. I'm about 10 yards shorter than stated.
  5. I fill in a dimple to the right of the number on both sides with an orange sharpie.
  6. I've been battling a push-slice lately and I've come to figure out that it occurs for a couple reasons (for my particular swing anyway). 1, I get lazy and instead of making a shoulder turn I'm using my arms more - this causes my elbow to eventually break down nothing is connected at this point. 2, I sway to the right on the backswing. 3, my alignment is off. This happens to me more than it should, I'm ashamed to admit.
  7. I have some pairs of the adidas ClimaCool pants and I can attest that they breathe very nicely and wouldn't hesitate to wear them in the summer here (it gets 100F+ and dry). I used to be a shorts guy (for golf) in high school and early 20s but not so much now for whatever reason.
  8. 85 (43/42). I was +6 thru 3 so I'm really proud of myself for not letting the round get away from me. Beat my buddy for the 2nd straight round, which was the best part 38% Fairways, 44% GIR, 32 putts (4 3-putts grrrrrrr)
  9. Nothing too crazy but yesterday my buddy hit a wedge from 90 yards out or so to a green that had boulders protecting the left front. His ball hit a boulder and flew backward and high, got a bounce off a cart path, and it ended up behind his original spot. I felt bad for him...and then 1/2 second later I couldn't keep from laughing :)
  10. #3, 405 yard par 4. Hit 3 wood off the tee to middle of fairway leaving me 180 to the hole, front pin. Hitting into a headwind with gusts 15-20mph. Hit my 3 hybrid perfectly but the green is slightly elevated and my ball hit the elevation change, hopped up and died leaving me on the fringe. Took par.
  11. 96 today. Pretty tough course for me, I don't do well on hilly courses with big elevation changes. I played well enough to get under 90, which was my goal, but I couldn't keep my driver in play today. Took 7 penalty strokes on the day.
  12. I love my Clicgear 3.0, can't imagine now being without it.
  13. Take this for what it's worth: Monday morning I played a 9-hole par 3 course and shot a +4. Hit my wedges and 9 iron solid, little light on the putting but whatever. I use that course as a short game practice. After the round I wanted to hit a bucket so I started with driver and worked it pretty good. Pulled out my 8 iron and...SHANK. Reset myself and...SHANK. For the next 25 minutes or so I couldn't hit a club. I ended up hitting driver way more than I wanted to just because I wasn't shanking it. I'm a stubborn SOB when this happens, I want to swing myself out of it. Anyway, had a tee time for Wednesday morning and I texted my friend saying it's going to be miserable, I can't hit a iron to save my life. I show up early and hit a couple balls. Pure. Shot an 86 for the round, 2nd lowest career score. I guess what I'm saying is, it happens. What helped me in between the range and the course was to feel confident again. There wasn't one shot during the round where I felt insecure about club selection or if I was going to shank it or not. Not one time. Make every shot count, even on the range. Too many times we want to rush, we want to get to the next ball because there is no penalty on a driving range for hitting bad shots.
  14. #17, par 3 168 yards to a back-left pin location. Hitting into some wind, hit a 6i to within 4 feet and made the birdie.
  15. 86 on a par 71 course. Had my career low score of 84 here last fall so I feel comfortable playing there. Left scores out there, though, was constantly battling a push of the tee. Not fun.
  16. I use a 50*/8 and a 56*/11. I used to have a 60* and hated it; I envy those who can use one effectively.
  17. I usually have 2 sleeves of new ProV1x and then about 10-15 gently used balls I buy from a website. I've had a few rounds where I just can't stop losing balls so I'll switch to the used ones.
  18. Shot 89 today, first sub-90 round of 2011. Finally adjusted to my grip tweak, especially off the tee. However I had 5 3-putts today and wasted 11/18 GIRs. 41 putts total Absolutely had a chance for a special round today.
  19. I got my Clicgear last spring and it's easily the best golf purchase I've ever made. I was using one of those Bag Boy pull carts prior to and the Clicgear is in a different world. The strap system is much easier, the storage footprint is much smaller, construction is highly durable, the tracking is easily adjustable, the braking system is easy to use and works...for me it was a no-brainer. I think I've put it through roughly 45 rounds now and haven't had a single problem. I did look at the Sun Mountain also but it's storage footprint is a bit bigger. And if I'm not mistaken it has pneumatic tires - but I could be wrong.
  20. Trust me, you are not the only one who doesn't think Tiger is the best ever. Get off your high horse. And your claim that he has hit his prime - based on what? Guys I would say are past their prime would be Vijay, Ernie, Kenny Perry, etc. You want to group Tiger in there with them? As for him not finding this new swing - professionals do things different no matter the sport. Kind of like asking Barry Bonds to become a lead-off hitter. Tiger has hit millions of golf balls with a pretty specific swing for years. For him, the changes are more than just what you see on TV. As for Chamblee, I agree, his negativity is wearing. However, I also think it's an easy position for him to take right now. He can't go wrong by piling on Tiger - it seems to be the "in-thing" to do at the moment.
  21. I can chime in and say that I have had no issues at all with my TRUE golf shoes in both dry and damp conditions. I was skeptical at first but all my fears were quelled a couple weeks ago. Played a damp course, walking, and had no slippage at all. I've worn them to the range and hit off wet mats (notorious for slippage) and had no problems. Nike makes a golf shoe that's kind of a hybrid. I think it has 3 spikes on each shoe along with nubs. The only downside I've found is the spikeless shoes (Ecco, TRUE, Nike) are expensive. You can find a $65 pair of spike shoes easily - the others are $120+.
  22. Interested. Any comments on condition?
  23. +1 on a 9-hole par 3. Getting fit for a 36-hole jaunt first of March in Vallejo. Starting to trust my grip changes and really working with the putter.
  24. Frogger Amphibian towel, Frogger brush, and a dozen ProV1s that were on sale (older version). Currently looking for a cart bag for my Clicgear cart and a new driver.
  25. Over the winter I've fixed my grip (was too strong and hands too far apart) and worked on my takeaway. I'm in a much more powerful position coming down. My tempo is more consistent as well. I've also worked on my wedges, 100 yards and in. My first round of the year last week proved positive in this respect. Had several short pitches to within 5-7 feet, thus lowering my putts to 30 for the round (was averaging 36 last year). Going on a 36-hole trip to Vallejo in March and then playing Torrey Pines again in April so I'm working toward those days. Hopefully I can get a few more rounds in before then (depending on weather).
