  2. A friend of mine never went anywhere unless he knew he could drink. We played one afternoon and I was even through 9. We had a beer on the 10th hole and I went on to bogey 10, doubled 11 and 12. That was 10 years ago and I haven't had a drink during a round since.
  3. So how long will it take to know if this is a good hire/bad hire? When the media start reporting about Kiffin's attitude during spring practice or when Bama beats West Virginia by 80 to start the season ?
  4. So why the "lateral move"? He was tired of having his hands tied by Saban and wanted to go somewhere he could coach his game?
  5. I think if you're in the left lane and someone approaches, you need to move right. As soon as you see them in your rear view mirror. Maybe that's part of the problem, they don't use their mirrors?
  6. It drives me crazy when people say, "I seen" instead of, "I saw".
  7. Stanford, Oklahoma, Michigan and Michigan State were all in the top 15 in the rankings when they played ND. USC wasn't ranked but had beaten ND in 9 of their last 10 meetings, usually pretty badly. Oklahoma was number 8 and ND were 9 point underdogs going into that game. The college football "analysts" all had ND in their top 10 for SOS, Alabama wasn't even mentioned. (Yes I remember perfectly well how the NC turned out......................just as I knew it would ) And if ND and Bama had played 10 times last, ND may have lost all 10. I'm starting to have some sympathy for Ohio fans..............just a little.
  8. I have to agree. All other league playoffs are ho hum compared. Even the Final Four tournament isn't as exciting IMO. The controversy of the BCS leads to the discussion and arguments that get people going. That and most in the U.S. relate to their schools more. The school you graduated from is a part of you in the U.S. from what I see. A Buckeye, Seminole and of course The Irish. Up here people barely mention their university or college when asked their background and it's usually nothing more than a line on your resume.
  9. Oh, I can't stand whiners either, complaining all the time. There's always something that annoys these people................................ wait, what?
  10. I'm not sure if it's common in the States but left lane drivers here (at least in Ontario) are maddening. Just outside the town we live in has a regional road where the old farts get out in the left lane and just sit there. We also have round-a-bouts in our new sub-division which apparently cause people here to just totally lose all common sense. It's like they just suddenly drove into a foreign country and don't know how to drive. Even if you've never driven in one, everything you need to know is right in front of you. A yield sign entering and a one way sign. What more do these people need?!
  11. ..............people who misuse the word four, for fore.
  12. Born and raised in Hamilton, moved to T.O. when I was about 28, now in Newmarket. I'll be watching Denver/New England. I just can't get into CFL, it really wasn't big when I was growing up. It seemed like a league followed by seniors. Of course now quite a few of my high school friends seem to be season ticket holders. Go figure. Now after writing this I'm sure I'll turn the game on for a while.
  13. That's why I'm a stall guy.
  14. I think that's the unwritten rule of life. My wife and I went to a movie Friday afternoon while the kids were at Grandma's house and we both booked the day off. Six people in the theatre and nobody within 8 rows of us. A group of 4 sat directly behind us. Thankfully they were quiet. Empty parking lot........... Commuter trains, buses............. I've been on an empty range before and wannabee Tiger and Phil started hitting next to me. Every shot required a comment, "Ohhhhhh, hit it off the toe!" That seemed to be code for, "I topped it". It was the blind leading the blind. Unfortunately they were both behind me. At least if they're in front they can provide some entertainment.
  15. Same here. I think it was a Gary Player book I read years ago where he said his target was always the cup. Your margin for error becomes manageable if you learn to focus smaller.
  16. I read an article a couple of months ago saying The Ryder Cup wasn't the tournament it is today until Europe became competitive and won a couple of times (early 80's?). The matches weren't really even close until Europe tied in 1969. Even when Europe started winning the matches were still close. As a Canadian regarding the Presidents Cup, I really only watched the matches when Mike Weir was playing. Els and Goosen were 2 of my favourites but I still really only watched during the couple of years Mike played. I like the Ryder Cup for the drama not really caring which side won. There's no drama in the PC.................yet?
  17. I would think 300 yards is pretty short on Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf 2013. You on Xbox or Playstation?
  18. I've long felt that the times ND has been ranked, they were ranked higher than they maybe should have been. They actually moved up the rankings after beating Air Force. But I also don't know the super secret code and how much the strength of schedule matters.
  19. Seemed like a great week in College football, too bad I only saw about 10 minutes in total. (I'm a contractor, so sitting on the couch after about 8 PM usually means I'll be asleep relatively quickly). So is Bama that good or has LSU lost a step or 2 the last couple of years? I guess at 7-3 they've lost a step. It also appears our Tommy Boy made an appearance 3 weeks earlier than I predicted against Pitt last night. The Stanford game may be ugly. I think "playing all the seniors" moment will come pretty early this year. :) Hendrix may be in by the start of the 3rd.
  20. My Grandpa put a club in my hand when I was about 4 and just let me swing it. The only things he tried to correct was to keep my thumbs away from the top of the grip and not to drop my rear shoulder. (Like others have mentioned, my left thumb is along the lifeline of my right hand. The left thumb is equal distance on the left side of the shaft). A 10 finger was normal for me and at 39 I can't see changing. My cousin is a CPGA pro and asked me to switch a couple of years ago. Both interlocking and overlapping just seem too flimsy and I don't feel I have a solid grip on the club. I asked him why I should change. His answer was, "it solidifies your hands". I told him they already are and that they feel as though they work together as one. Then he said it's a more stable grip. I replied the same as the first question. When I asked again why I should switch, basically his answer was, "cuz". When he worked towards becoming a CPGA pro, he changed his grip from 10 finger to overlapping. He was taught that so I think he believes that is the only way. My putting grip is more traditional I think. The thumbs are on top of the shaft and my left index finger over my pinky, ring and middle finger of my right hand. Edited to say, I thought I was the only golfer in the world who used this grip. :)
  21. I agree. I'm just trying to figure out if I should use Eldrick or Tiger............
  22. I feel asleep on the couch at 8:30 damn it.
  23. Nice. Their actually carrying the game up here. Even thought they're a rival of ND, I always liked Stanford.
  24. A friend of mine had wondered that too. Notre Dame is always with the Ivy League schools for the number of student athletes graduating (I think Notre Dame was tops last year). There's no way he would need to cheat with the resources these guys are given.
