  1. 45g is very light for a shaft. You may benefit from something around 60-70g in stiff flex. It's very hard to recommend anything without seeing your swing or knowing your distances.
  2. I play a 54/12 and 60/10. My PW is 47 degrees. My yardages are 60=80 yards, 54=100, yards and pw=120. I play high bounce because I don't open the face up too much and on fuller shots play the ball quite far back in my stance to ensure contact with the ball first and a downward strike.
  3. I have just gone through the process of changing my 18 degree nike sumo. I narrowed it down to the TM rescue 09 or the Titleist 909h, both 19 degrees. I went with the TM because I saw a great deal on it. They are both great rescues with the 909h probably slightly better, but not £25 better lol.
  4. I spent a long time choosing a fairway wood a couple of months ago. I wanted something which sat nice and tight behind the ball for fairway shots. It came down to the TM R9 or the Ping G10/G15's. Not the most affordable clubs but certainly the best for me. I chose the R9 after finding a great deal on it for £99 (ex-display but never been swung).
  5. I demo'ed the 909h today (19 degree diamana). This is way better than the old 585. It felt great, gave a nice flight and was more forgiving than I expected. I have ruled out all the other clubs on my shortlist apart from the Taylor made rescue. Anybodies opinions on the '09 version very welcome.
  6. What bad things have you heard about ping i10's? I think they are great irons, they hold their value better than most too. Others you could try are the Nike VR split cavity, they are sweet irons, I've been playing them for a year now. Also, the new TM R9 irons look pretty cool too.
  7. I'm looking to replace my current 18 degree nike sq hybrid. I hit it ok but it isn't the most forgiving or easiest hybrid to hit and I have never felt comfortable with it when addressing the ball. My shortlist is (in order): TM rescue '09 - non tp, way overpriced, Titleist 909 h - this looks sweet but I never liked the 585h, don't know how different it is to that, Cleveland Hibore XLS - I'm concerned the 'extra offset' will cause me to hook this one Cleveland Launcher, Cobra Baffler TWS, Adams Idea Pro/Gold Not a very 'shortlist' but any comments very welcome.
  8. I would give the Srixon AD333 a try, it's a great all rounder. The Nike one vapor is pretty popular too but I wasn't overly impressed with it.
  9. This is a tough question. I'm a big nike fan but don't like their putters or balls. I'm a big taylormade fan but not sure about their putters. So it would be a toss up between Ping and Titleist, both make great woods, hybrids, irons, wedges and putters. Ping would edge it I think, then I could use the Srixon z-star ball! Now why the hell don't I have any ping clubs in my bag? lol
  10. Can't really go wrong with Ping. They are very high quality clubs which reflects in their resale value. If your hitting them well go for it. If you feel you need to compare them against something else before purchasing then try the Nike Victory Red full cavity, they feel sweet.
  11. I have tried both in the past. They both felt pretty good and very similar to each other. I would go for the AD333 with it being cheaper. I personally think this ball is suitable for almost any player and is as good as many 3 piece balls. It certainly launches a little higher than many balls i've tried in the past.
  12. I have the r9 3 wood and set it to N. I have a pretty straight shot so don't really need help straightening anything out. Opening the face didn't seem to make much of a difference (don't really want to de-loft by opening the face angle anyway, I like to get height on my 3 woods) but setting it to L gave me too much of a right to left shape. To be honest I haven't played around with it much, i've only had it a couple of weeks but I really like it so far.
  13. I would have a look at the TM tour burner, I upgraded to this recently from a nike sq sumo and it feels nice and solid, pretty forgiving and more consistent than the nike. They can be had from american golf for £129 too. The ping g10/15 drivers are very solid too.
  14. I put some on my previous set of irons (the non cord type, think they were called dual compound) and they felt good. I sold the irons after a couple of months so can't comment on their durability. I think I will use them again though when I need my clubs re-gripping.
  15. I got my R9 3 wood today, Turned out to be a real bargain. It was described as used 4* out of 5* but it is actually brand new, not a single mark on it and only paid £99 ($160). Haven't tried it out yet but I've changed the settings around and can't tell a difference when in the set up position. Is this normal?
  16. Is anybody on here using one? I have seen an ex-demo at a great price and think I will go for it. Just wanting some feedback if possible. I'm changing from my nike sq 3+ wood. It is great off the tee but hard to get up in the air from the fairway due to the 13* loft. I am also considering a ping g10. Are the TM and ping fairways easy to launch high?
  17. Before my Nike VR wedges I played the Nike SV tour wedges, they were very nice wedges, plenty of spin when needed.
  18. Taylormade tour burner driver £129.
  19. I use a 54/12 sand wedge (so I can carry a 2 hybrid). I have played this setup for a while now (also carry a 60/10) and have no problems from bunkers with it. It is great for medium and longer greenside bunker shots and any situation where there is very little green to work with I use the 60. There shouldn't be too much difference from using the 56, just open it up a little more if you feel the need.
  20. Give the Srixon AD333 a try or the Soft feel, they have a compression rating of 80 and 70, spin is pretty good too.
  21. The Cleveland deal seems pretty straight forward and generous too, just exchange your set for the new model when it comes out. They are one of my favorite golf companies and make some good clubs. Try out their launcher combo irons/hybrids. The reference to the golds being clunky is due to their thicker top line and sole, the same critisism is said of many game improvement clubs. I would also demo the Ping g10 or g15's, a little pricey but hold their value better than anything else and very high quality clubs. Another good iron set is the Nike Victory Red full cavity, they are very forgiving without looking too 'clunky'.
  22. Do you hit your drives too high? I recently changed from a 9.5 to a 10.5, the result is a slightly higher flight but similar distance (this will help me more in the winter when there is less roll on the fairways). Not all good players use a low lofted driver, Tiger had a 10 earlier this year, Luke Donald uses a 10 or 10.5. I would go try the same driver with both lofts and see what the figures say, thats what I did. (PS where in the UK are you?)
  23. From what I gather the S300 is in between the two, probably not a big difference either way.
  24. I tried this out. I tried the 9* with stiff red shaft. It felt nice but I was slicing it, I think the fujikura shafts in those drivers play pretty stiff, especially the reds. Unless you are swinging 110+ I would demo the gold shaft. Otherwise it is a nice driver, classic looks and sound but nothing to get too excited about imo.
  25. The Nike VR wedges are great for control and feel, they have a similar look to the vokeys at address too.
