The Dan Plan - 10,000 Hours to Become a Pro Golfer (Dan McLaughlin)
pbillaa replied to Jonnydanger81's topic in Golf Talk
I agree with you about the accuracy… When I say Top level amateur I'm taking into account that he has 5000 hours of focused practice left, not what he's done so far. Personally I think its fun to watch… Hell I feel like I'm the only person rooting for him. -
The Dan Plan - 10,000 Hours to Become a Pro Golfer (Dan McLaughlin)

I have to reply to this thread, and please let me know if i'm totally out of line. Personally I think his swing has made amazing progress, I also think its hilarious that a bunch of 15 handicap players are ripping his swing. I've been following the Dan plan for about a year now and its been quite entertaining. I think that by the time he's finished he will be a TOP level amateur player… pro???? not sure, but a great player for sure. -
I just thought I would post my recent experience... A few years ago a golf friend and I discovered how great this ball is, however my back went out last year... and apparently I forgot. I started this year playing with my old usual... the prov1x... and the ball performed as great as always. A few days ago I saw the d2feel at dick's and got a box. After lots of short game practice comparing the D2, zstar xv, and bridgestone b330 I've found that there really isn't much difference. In fact I've left pitch shots short as we all have... :) so I thought I'd put it in play for a round. It only took me 2 holes to realize that I'm always going to be playing this ball. In my opinion the fact that this ball holds its line so well, makes it superior to its expensive counterparts. I know this ball has been talked about, I just thought i'd add my thoughts. I should also add that I shoot typically between 75 and 80 at a fairly tough course. Just buy some and try them... I bet you can still leave a chip short :) I'm gonna order a top flite towel and glove to show my true colors.

I feel ya... It's the worst. Now I just need a few thousand reps with my new swing before I'm ready to play again :(

No worries cipher... I got great instruction. The strange thing is, I now feel like I have an over the top move. But on video it's down the line, and I still have a baby draw. I was so far inside its insane.

I guess I opened myself up for that... I do however carry roughly a 6 handicap. So call it what you want

Well I'm happy to report that they're gone along with my old swing... My instructor said I had what he called "a good player shank". It was a result of coming to far from the inside, and sliding my hips. That would explain why none of the Internet solutions worked, as they are all designed to stop the over the top move. The funny thing is, I now have a simple feeling golf swing that is more effective. I can't believe how hard I've been making it. Thanks for all the insight... I have to get back to the range :)

I just watched that 5 keys video... It's much more complicated than that. I took video today and I'm still coming from the inside. I believe from my front camera angel that I'm sliding instead of turning, trust me... Every shank is not caused from an over the top move.

I tried to work them out today... No dice!!! I was having success starting my swing from the top tho. I have a lesson with my pro on Sunday, I'll post updates after.

So I'm playing yesterday, I bogey the first 3 holes... I kind of get it going and find myself 3 over going into 15. Suddenly... Bam!!!! I waste a perfect 280 yard drive by shanking my wedge. Now I'm 2 more rounds in and every full wedge is a shank. Please help, it's sucking the fun out of the game :(

The 710cb's were totally speaking to me, I just couldn't shell out the extra dough.

I would say that a legit 10 would have no problem hitting them. I was shocked by the forgiveness. My previous set was Adams a7's, I found the zb's to be no less forgiving.
-
I think so, I had the 735's 2 years ago. Specs are basically the same tho. I could be wrong tho I played worse then. Lol

Hey all, I just purchased a set of titleist zb irons on s300's and I just feel the need to tell the cyber world that they are the best irons I have ever hit. I've used countless comparable sets but nothing is even close. I was surprised by the forgiveness but blown away by the distance and accuracy. Great clubs and they can be had cheap. Thanks for reading, hit em straight.

Hey I live in MN also, and I can't wait for the snow to hit the ground so I can focus on my ball striking. Does that make me weird? Also where do you hit balls in the winter? I like the BP dome.

I'm having the same problem. I can't shoot my handicap on the course I play mens club at, it is making me feel like a fool. I can't make a putt there, and I 3 putt all the time. Believe it or not I recently shot 77 with 16 greens in reg.... KILL ME NOW

I have the exact same problem, My right middle finger get's totally swollen. I have found out its humidity related, no humidity, no swelling.

I found that a 60 just adds weight to the bag.

This is a very good point, its also why I try to split the difference with the d2 feel. -

Honestly I find these debates funny. If any of you have EVER come up short, have you asked yourself what good did all that spin do me? I have, now I play a cheep ball, hit it far, and score low. Just play for the ball to roll out one more foot, its not that hard. -
I think I have a problem. Equipment related.

Its nice to see I'm not the only one. In fact I haven't been able to sleep because for no reason at all, my sand wedge is an impostor. Ans it must go!!!!! HELP ME -

The manufacturers have been making clubs within the usga rules forever. Driver head size and trampoline effect, golf ball distance, and many others. Why are people not outraged by these limitations? The outrage regarding this rule is comical. I say bring on the new groves, I will no longer shread balls.
