  1. I've used some lead tape on my driver to try to correct a problem with a fade. I put 3 1inch strips towards the heel of the club and it has worked pretty well. I did it because instead of getting a heavier shaft (currently using a stiff 65g) why not weigh the driver down with lead tape which only costs like $8 a roll @ Golfsmith....just my thought.
  2. If you feel up to it, I'd recommend taking a trip up to Frisco. They're at least 3 good spots to test out. Frisco Lakes is about a year old but the greens are really true. I haven't tested out The Tribute but from what I've heard, it's a good links course for TX. Trails of Frisco is also nice too and a decent challenge as well. Let me know what you think.
  3. My toughest was probably for a tournament I played while in college...Montour Heights (72.9/148). That's where I learned the lesson if there are mountains near the course, use the mountains to read the greens.
  4. Anybody know if any streaming of the US Amateur is available?
  5. My course has none that I can think of, but the course across the street/future toll road, TPC @ Craig Ranch has several Mavericks and Cowboys as members. Sidebar though, I did walk up as a single last month and got paired up with Tim Brown. Cool guy, good player too, even if he forced me to play the tips on a 7,300 yd course.
  6. I used to do the walking too but here in TX, it's near impossible. Especially when the next five day forecast reads like this.....106, 102, 97 (rain), 100, 100, 100
  7. I know this may be far-fetched, but as a golf fan in Texas, I believe a Men's Major (U.S. Open or PGA) is long overdue to be hosted in Texas. I know the rotation is set until 2015, but for the next set, Texas deserves a mention. If the pro's can sweat it out in Tulsa, why not Texas??? Think about this stat...Tulsa has held 2 majors since 2000, while the great state of Texas has hosted 0 since 1970. For the state that has produced such legends as Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson to go almost 50 years without hosting a major is a travesty. Do you guys agree?
  8. I have to differ on this one. While the PGA Tour can't offer incentives, I can see where individual hotels or airlines would "comp" top tour players for travel expenses.
  9. I think Anthony Kim is gonna win a major b/f the end of 2009...mark my words Even though his putting was off @ the Open, (first Open btw) he's normally pretty good with the blade. Plus, he's learning how to win while Tiger's not around.
  10. I would base it on the types of clubs....like I would never buy anything Callaway except woods.....the jury's still out on Nike but other than your knock-off brands found at Wal-Mart, I'd hit anything that can keep me in the 70's
  11. I've got an interesting dilemma here, any help would be appreciated: For the longest, I was playing with a 975D, 8.5 stiff and I would hit a slight draw that would average maybe 260-270. On a whim, I found a R7 460 10.5 regular shaft that I can't draw to save my life. My question is this: 1) Do you think it could be the shaft (my swing speed is in between 92-94 mph) or 2) Do bigger clubheads kinda encourage a fade Look forward to any answers
  12. Right now at my home course I shoot between 82-84...that being said, I really want to get my game consistently in the high 70's by next spring. My other goal for the summer is to start hitting fairways at least 60% of the time. Ultimately I want a handicap low enough to at least qualify for a USGA Mid-Am or Pub Links. Ideally I want to do this by the time I'm 30 so I've got a little time.
  13. I just really got a home course but here's the link: http://www.ridgeviewgc.com
  14. Within a mile of my job we have both of these stores as well as the infamous PGA Tour Superstore. Honestly, for service, I prefer GolfSmith based on personal experience, that and it tends to be less people there normally.
