  1. No Torrey Pines next year? damn
  2. He has his moments, just like everyone else.
  3. It's normal. Miramar MCAS is close by.
  4. Showing old tournaments would be pretty cool imo.
  5. there aren't a whole lot of tournaments going on this time of year anyways.
  6. welcome to the club
  7. good lord, I hope I don't catch them just from reading this thread.
  8. No, do not play Cottonwood. It is a beat up course, greens suck, fairways are dry. It's just all around not that enjoyable in my opinion. Singing Hills (Sycuan) is 10 x better, much better maintained and better layout imo (also my home course). Steele Canyon is better than both though although it is expensive for non-county residents. Riverwalk is also a great course. It is slightly expensive but still pretty cool. Carlton Oaks is a decent option. Although I have not played either, I have heard good things about both Mt. Woodsen and Carmel Mountain Ranch.
  9. Going to Tijuana to play golf? You are a much braver soul than I. But seriously, why not just play in San Diego. There are several nice courses to play on.
  10. This is a reason why I like this forum. At first I thought it was just all single digit cappers but then I realized there's several people from all across the board, from really high to scratch or better. I think I was once in the running for this but my scores have gotten better so not any more.

    13* 3 Wood

    that's pretty much a 2-wood no?

    Golf Team

of course it varies from school to school. I don't want to scare you with what I'm about to say but for my school making the team was really difficult. There were 6 guys each on varsity and junior varsity. I tried out, little did I know, with absolutely no chance at making the team with my scores in the 90s. Everyone on the team presently shot low 70s, occasionally dropping a couple under par. To even get into consideration you probably had to shoot sub-40 9s. It was just insane. But then again, our team was very good. For other schools in the area that I know of it's not even close to as hard to make the team so it's different for every school. Good luck.
  13. Sorry for polluting the thread but at a glance I read this as "Has anyone taken a pee on a golf course" haha. And no, i haven't.
  14. I haven't played myself, but I know someone who does regularly. He likes both north and south, they're both fine courses but obviously people are willing to pay a lot more just for the sake of playing south. So it's really your call. I don't think you can really go wrong with either. This guy I know also shoots over 100, so no need to feel ashamed there. There are plenty of just 'average joes' out there and you are probably better than a lot of them. Sure, there are some low single digits as with anywhere but the course is really played by a wide range of people. I really wish I could have gotten out there but I haven't gotten the chance yet. Have fun.
  15. haha cold in Southern California is not cold. I loved being able to play in 70 degree weather around Christmas time.
  16. Yeah, I need the practice obviously but I don't have enough time at the moment to work on it
  17. holy crap. i am nowhere near an 8.3 and I would be pissed if I shot a 111. That's a hell of a difference there between 80 and 111. I guess it's good that you're just laughing it off because that is most definitely not what I would be doing. haha It's probably because you were messing with mechanics. I know the little things like no driving range, new course, out of comfort zone etc. irk me a little but never by 31 strokes.
  18. Oh believe me, I totally know it's not the technique that's killing me. It's 100% mental with me and I've been battling it for quite a while. It's just I had a similar moment like the OP did with striking it cleaner off the surface but that alone cannot cure my mental deficiencies on the green unfortunately
  19. I'm about the same cap as you, shoot in the low 90s. I haven't calculated my average but I'd think it'd be about the same as yours. It's not uncommon for me to have 40 putts and it drives me freaking insane every time.
  20. I had a similar moment on the practice green a couple months ago where the ball just suddenly felt right coming off the putter, different sound, purer. It felt awesome. Went out on the course and had the same problems I always do. I can sink like 20-30 footers all the time on the practice green but I still flat out suck on the course.
  21. Never played them before, but Nickent makes some pretty sweet looking hybrids. I'd never heard of Nickent before reading this forum.
  22. this is exactly the reason why I haven't changed. I feel absolutely no stability.
  23. obviously you hear this from people who don't play golf...
  24. 10 finger so far for about 10 years. might change, I don't know. There is alot of pressure from overlappers to get us 10 fingerers to change but I continue to see evidence of great golf being played with the 10 finger so I'm convinced to go with whatever feels natural.
  25. haha. damn i need to go next year.
