Happy New Year! (no paragraphing needed!)

Good post. Michelle went through Hell, and then proved her critics WRONG!!
-
Here are my golf instructors: Jim Mrva, Head Professional at Monroe CC in Rochester, NY, Gary Player ( I have the book with 395 cartoon lessons), Ben Hogan, Harry Vardon, Bobby Jones (I have the complete collection of his short movies with W.C. Fields, etc.), Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, Jimmy Ballard ( "stay connected", Greg Norman, More Norman, Lee Trevino,Payne (including his tape on course etiquette), and Al Geiberger (Sybervision tape). Collectively, I rate them a 10!

Good post! I really bonded with Payne because of our similarities, such as ADHD, desire to be different (that is why he wore plus-4's, and I did too after I saw how good they looked on him), penchant for wearing bright colors, love of golf and music, and MOST importantly, a strong FAITH in God!

I see you live in Cincinatti. There is a Meadow Links course near here, in Richfield Springs, N.Y. It is an 18 hole course. It is about 15 miles north of Cooperstown!
-
All are GREAT tracks! Here is another one: Banff State Park in the Canadian Rockies. Before I die, I must play golf there!
-
Here is MY FINAL ANSWER: some days, it works. Other days, it does NOT work at all!
-
I have been to many, and my favorites are the Heritage (I love Hilton Head) and practice rounds for the US Opens at Winged Foot (1984), Medinah (1990), and Oak Hill (1989).

You are right. As Tracey Stewart describes in her biography about her husband, Payne changed over the last two years of his life. The WWJD bracelet he wore was a constant reminder to him of how he should act. His son, Aaron, gave it to him, and he had it on when he died.

I have to name two: Annika and Juli Inkster. Whom did you see and where?

Thanks for the memories

OK, people. Reread my original post. I wrote that Payne would be playing on the Champions Tour and would be the life of the party. THAT IS WHAT I WROTE. To argue with me, you HAVE to state that NEITHER is possible. Is that what you really believe?
-
I think we can ALL agree that NO ONE KNOWS how Payne would have done had he lived, any more than anyone KNOWS how Tiger would have done if he did not have injuries and surgeries. To say otherwise is whistling in the wind.

I agree that Payne was not a dominant player. I never said he was. He never was ranked #1 or 2. He was a very good player who won 3 Majors, 12 tournaments, earned his way onto 5 Ryder Cup teams, and was elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame. He won 3 Majors, 1 more than Greg Norman. His total Majors is equal to Tom Kite, Fred Couples, and Davis Love III COMBINED! Not bad!

Sounds very familiar to me!

Good, entertaining posts! -
You miss the point. Other people have posted that Payne would have been too old after 1999 to win more majors. He would have been 44 in 2001. When he won in 1999, Phil, Tiger, VJ and others were in contention. He beat ALL of them. Tiger did not win the US Open in 2001, 2003, 2004 or 2005. Payne had to beat not just Tiger, but the Goose, Furyk, and Campbell. And he did that in 1999.

Will your club have a party? If not, what are you doing?

Your golf instructor I see that my answer of "golf instructor" finally appeared! It must have been stuck in a cloud somewhere.

OK. Thank you. I will use multi-quote Trust me. I am trying. I do want my posts to be read. -
Just for the record: in the 1999 US Open, Tiger bogied the short 71st hole and Payne birdied it. Tiger finished 2 back of Payne. That hole finished Tiger off, leaving only Phil and we all know what happened on the last hole.

We all know there is a lening We all know there is a learning curve with new activities. You all MUST have heard this axiom: "You can teach an OLD DOG new tricks, but YOU MUST HAVE PATIENCE!!" DO NOT WORRY. DO NOT HURRY. IWILL TEACH HIM A LESSON THAT HE WILL NOT FORGET! -

I feel sorry for Tiger. He wants to do things with Sam and Charlie and is unable to do so. I will be EXTREMELY CAREFUL in the future. I do realize it causes a waste of time for you guys and gals. -

I am sorry this happened, and I will post only from a computer in the future. My laptop is being repaired, and I have been using the ones at the NH library, but they are closed on Wednesdays. I feel sorry for Tiger. He wants to do things with Sam and Charlie and is unable to do so.
