Even though I fully agree with you Quinn, I think you misunderstood his post. I think he meant 11 out of 14 fairways and 12 out of 18 greens.

I have a lot of goals I hope to accomplish this year, so here are my top 5: 1. Obtain a real handicap- not neccesarily an official USGA handicap, but one from a system like Scorecard. 2. Make at least the #4 spot on my hs team- Last year I was #8 out of 10, and this year I plan on beating out some others. 3. Lose 20 pounds- I lost 10 pounds in the last 2 months of golf last year, and this year I want to get down to 195 (20 lbs less). I will continue to walk the majority of the time. 4. Majorly change my short game- I need to stop three-putting and learn a consistent stroke. I really believe that I need a heavy mallet putter, so I might be shopping. I also need to fix my chipping/pitching a lot. 5. Lower my overall score- According to a few internet handicap trackers, my HC was about 22 and my overall was too high. I want to get sown to at least 14 or 15 HC. I don't think it will be too hard. Zach

I wish we had good weather too play now. Our coach is getting us passes for $110 for the whole season, which is almost half of what a basic membership is for the club. This year I hope to be #3 or at least #4 on the team of 10 or so. Need to start practising a lot more, which I plan on playing at least 5 times a week, plus at my house.

My moms friend filled this out and last week she came over and gave me a free Lamkin Sting-free grip and two brand new sleeves of Callaway Tour Ix balls. The balls are great but I haven't gotten to try the grip yet.

Best looking irons? Have your say.
drtbk933 replied to Hacksaw's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I haven't hit mine yet( they are a Christmas gift) but I have hit some at a Dunhams before. I can't say they hit as good as the TM, but that's cause I haven't hit them yet. They have an awesome fell and setup beautifully at address. They hit nice and make a good sound. I hit my old seven iron 155 on average, but I got this seven iron out around 165-170. The shafts are Apollo, and the grips are soft and don't slip at all. I am getting the hybrid set, so I don't get the 3 or 4 iron. I'll do a full review after I use them for a while. -

Nike pro forged irons, but I really do love the black finish on my new Pinemeadow Command BK irons. http://www.pinemeadowgolf.com/golf-c...ons/command.bk -
Bought a partial set of TaylorMade 320 graphite shafted irons for 3 bucks.

I like how on every video dealing with ufos or the paranormal the quality sucks. In this video, if the ship is clear to see, then you only see a small amount of it, and when the thing is shown moving, its blurry as crap. It looks like someone had fun on photoshop while rollin' one. By the way, the guy that posted the video confirms that he made it and it is an example of what might have happened on the 14th. Haha what a waste.

Going to Asheboro & Myrtle Beach. . . best courses?
drtbk933 replied to TheWarHound's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Check out the dunes. I was in Myrtle Beach in mid-August and the condo we stayed at was about a mile away. It is a beautiful course with awsome fairways and greens. Didn't get to play it( couldn't bring clubs) but I did walk beside it on the road to look at it. -
Lucky, I live above Pittsburgh and it raining out on our last warm day. It sucks.

I was blessed with amazing parents. They bought me a 1987 s10 blazer for $1000 when I was fourteen. It had a perfect body, just needed a fresh paint job and new divers side fender. The agreement was that I had to pay for the parts to fix it. The fender cost me $60 and the whole paint kit cost $150. This coming spring I'm going to sand it down and prep it for the paint. Been looking foward to using my new paint gun. None of this is hard for me to do because I've spent the last 8 years of my life working on cars and engines. I recently took up welding and body work and am getting a lot better. I'm also fortunate that my dad has worked on cars his whole life (46 years this month) and can literally fix anything as long as he has the tools, which he almost always does. I get my permit in March '09 and get my liscence in Oct. '09. My parent will pay one year of insurance and then I have too. Gas is up to me which means I have to get a job this March, which I was planning on doing anyway.

In the past two days, I have hit two drives over 300 yards. Sunday I hit one on #6 385 yards slightly downhill. Non windy, sunny day, cold hit a beautiful drive with new driver and bombed one and was about sixty yards away from the pin. Today I hit one perfectly straight and freakin' amazing and I measured it with a 100 yards tape measure. I needed three tapes and another six yards. I love that driver.

How High (or low) do you tee it up with your driver?
drtbk933 replied to Certifi_able's topic in Golf Talk
Tee it up with no ball or barley any over the crown of the club. I actually started lowering it today, and no lie( I have two witnesses) I hit one about 320 and didn't even hit the middle of the face. I believe it makes me able to hit the middle of the club face better. -
Shot a 50 today from the whites. Not one single par. I did have an honest 316 yard drive, though. It was slightly downhill with no tailwind, just a beautiful hit. Measured it with some guys electronic tape measure.

Haha, thanks but thats wrong. I'm not an athlete. I'm 6' 2 1/2" and 213 lbs. I played bball for three years and four seasons, but I'm not athletic. I just have a lot of upper body strength and flexibility that allows me too wind up pretty good. I'm positive I could swing a club over 140 if I really tried, but I would probably hurt myself.
-
Yea, the fitter looked at the radar and just shook his head and said, "Holy Sh** kid." Now, I have a more controlled swing and a better stance and grip.
-
When I started playing golf, my swing speed was clocked at an average of 121 and a max of 134 mph. The ball would go 70 yards out straight and then 100 yards to the right. haha Now my swing speed is 111 and I average hit the ball 260 with 10 yards of roll and a good amount of slice. I have a regular shaft but just bought a new driver with a shaft fitted for me(stiff, 45") and with a 430cc 4 weight adjustable head. Hopefully I'll be able to hit it straighter, I'd rather have accuracy than distance.

http://www.golfsmith.com/products/24...rformance_Tees These are plastic and have a consistancy marker. White ones supposedly last longer.

Played last practice today. Shot my best there ever, a 49. I started the season in mid August shooting high 60's to shooting a 49 five short weeks later. I'm sure If I still had a few more weeks of practice, I could shoot under 45. Just need to get a driver that works for me.
-
Yes, that would be very efficient too.

http://www.golfrewind.com/club-makin...wn-shafts.html Read number 7 post, that seems to be a could answer IMHO.

The best thing to use is to cut them down with a grinder. Use a metal cutting blade, wrap the shaft in a rubber hose if you have some (so the shaft doesn't get marred and adds extra protection when putting the shaft in a vice), put the shaft in a vice and secure down, but not to hard, mark the amount you want to cut off, and have at it. If you've never used a grinder or a dremel for cutting metal, I suggest you practice first.

I need to update my signature, I guess. I can't hit that Callaway to save my life. Sorry to confuse anyone. I'm using the one in the post.

Hi guys. I bought a driver from Walmart at the beginning of Summer, but until recently I could never hit it. I fixed a lot of things in my swing, grip, stance, etc. and I also cut down the shaft an inch. From the middle of the face to the butt of the grip, it is 44.5" after the cut down. I cut it down to make it a little stiffer and more control. Now, about 5/10 times I hit it I hit the toe of the club. I'm thinking that if I wouldn't have cut it down I would be okay with it. I want a new driver that is similar in shape, this driver is kind of shaped like the non-square Nike Sumo's, and with a longer shaft. My average carry is 265 with a good hit and my swing speed is around 100-105. Should I get a stiffer, longer shaft, or should I get one with a Higher kick point? Also, what other drivers are shaped like this? Thanks, Zach.
