It's nonsense. It costs them nothing for an extra person to ride than it would for me to bring a big cooler. It's just another way for them to stick their hands in your pockets. When I'm playing with another partner and using a cart I prefer to have my own. For this reason I always walk on so I get my own cart and they get their own cart. You want us to share a cart? Okay, let us share a cart fee and we'll share a cart. The things people have gotten used to are ridiculous. If your golf club isn't profitable in its own right, that's not the problem of the customers, it's the problem of management.

Not if you want them all to be the same weight like 1 iron.

Let's see, I can go to a website, enter my zip code to find courses near me, find the course I want to play, look through all the available tee times, then login or create an account, enter my credit card information, and most likely wait on a confirmation email...... Or I could call the course, tell them my name, and when I want to play. Call me old school but I always use the phone, ordering a pizza, booking a tee time, communicating with family, I'm a phone guy.

1960-70s Clubs with 1970s balls...
danL replied to onthehunt526's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a set of Wilson staff blades from the 60s, they're loads of fun to take to the range. If the shafts weren't boat anchors I'd take them on the course every now and then. -
I'm a Spieth fan so I'll be rooting for him regardless of performance. :)

Then I reckon Moe Norman should have had severe carpet tunnel.

Interesting stuff. Never been a Nike fan myself, though. The only thing I've gotten from them apparel wise that wasn't junk was a pair of sweatpants, everything else wore out prematurely, including shoes. I tried the vapor irons and driver, mixed feelings, but overall a good impression.

I find that my scores are the same regardless which tee I play from. If I play from the whites, I end up doing risky things thinking I can drive the green on a par 4 and get into trouble. When I'm playing from the blues, I know that a tee shot with a driver will only put me 15yd farther out than a tee shot with a 3 wood, and since the approach is going to be 140-180yd that one extra club distance doesn't bother me as much, I play it safe, put it in the safe part of the fairway, and play it out for a par or bogey. I know of course I could play it safe from the whites and possibly do better, but when I shoot a couple strokes less from Blue than white consistently, I started playing from the blues only.

With my updated swing mechanics I've gained some yards, but not many on the driver where I really need it. Carry distances Driver 245yd 3 wood 230yd 3 hybrid 220yd 3 Iron 215yd 4 Iron 200yd 5 Iron 190yd 6 Iron 180yd 7 Iron 170yd 8 Iron 160yd 9 Iron 145yd PW 135yd GW 120yd SW 110yd According to my iron distances my driver should be much farther but I just can't keep it out there consistently. Sure I'll hit a 290-300yd drive once a round or so, but average about 255-260 even after its bounced and rolled. Oh well, the longer distances in irons help me make up for it and score every now and then.

If 18 holes take more than 3.5hr you are playing too slow and if you don't let me through I'm calling the Ranger. :)

I reworked my swing a bit to try and fix the outside to inside slice swing. I got that corrected for the most part and at the same time picked up an extra 20yds with each club. My 160yd club is now my 8i and I've found that if I have a 7i or less into the green, I usually stick it. GIR is definitely the biggest factor in my scoring.

I prefer to play by myself. If I ended up alone for the whole round, great, had some time to think about my game and how to improve. If I get stuck with some people I don't know, that's cool as long as they're not dicks, I like making new acquaintances. One of the most fun and memorable rounds I've ever played was with 2 random college guys from the local university that I'd never met in my life. You only get one go round on this world, there's not enough time for inhibition and nervousness. They might be better than me at golf, but there are things I'm better than them at. Don't let that worry you, just have fun and try to improve.

Course: 70.1/130 Score: 92 First time playing in over a month and all my trouble was on bad chip shots and a couple bad putts. Had a 290yd and a 300yd drive which is long for me, and got 2 greens under regulation (ended up 2 putting both for a birdie), one from 175yd with a 6 Iron the other from 230yd with a 3 wood. Had 4 other GIR, all pars. Had several doubles bogeys that resulted from poor greenside performance, which happens every time I take a break from playing. I'll go to the range and work on my sand/chip shots and hopefully I'll be back in the mid/low 80s next week.

I know it's 2015 and they're a bit antiquated, but have you considered a 2/1 iron? You say you hit irons well, seems like a no brainer to me if I was in your shoes.

Those are the ones to have on video!

Ben Hogan Irons to Return in 2015
danL replied to Hollister's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Real club fittings should include loft/lie adjustments, shaft flex, and a few other things. But no, just picking together a set of clubs with 4* gap between each is not fitting. -

The new ones look like they're a bit more my speed. Might have to try these things out. -
You got a nice set of clubs there, use them. I'm definitely not good, but when I was learning to play as a kid we didn't even have these super game improvements clubs. You'll be fine if you have patience and will.

Legitimate question, what does being military or law enforcement have to do with anything? Both of those people would be off duty and therefore, regular citizens. Seems like you've started the debate off with the ideology that firearms are fine for military and police but bad for citizens. I guess your bias is too strong to overcome. I also second the concealed notion. Unless you're carrying a full size pistol in a belt holster, why would anyone ever know you have it? I think people's opinions on firearms are funny. Ask anyone how they feel about life insurance and you'll get a general consensus that it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Why does that simple rule of life get thrown out the window because some people have an irrational fear of an inanimate object? Otherwise rational people throw all logic out the window because "that's an evil gun!" More people are injured intentionally with blades every year than firearms in US. Is anyone cleaning out their knife block now? Also, do a quick bit of research on how many people are assaulted with legally owned firearms each year. I suppose I should lobby for all cars to be illegal because I don't want a guy that's had 3 DUIs driving.

Being paranoid? I suppose exercising your constitutional right of free speech is looked down upon as well. My point is, if you are judging someone for doing something that is totally legal, then you are the one with mental issues. Plain and simple. Please continue this discussion if you want to look more like a nazi.
i wonder if we took a poll of random folks here and asked this question: which country in the world has the highest percentage of gun carrying golfers? what would the results tell us.
Some other funny and enlightening questions to ask: Who has lost more conflicts that they started than won? Who has an antiquated system of royalty but also pretentious enough to act morally superior? Which country has the largest number of people without proper dental care? Which country statistically makes the worst running and selling automobiles that are actually imported? Which country also produces the most faulty firearms per year? Which country should be endlessly thankful that they tend to be cast in sophisticated roles because per capita they have more illiterate incestuous idiots than West Virginia? What country and continent was the only one to be successfully controlled by those incestuous idiots indefinitely? I think you all get the point, or maybe skulls are that thick and sense is that thin these days. Seriously, Shorty, I propose a challenge for you. Walk down MLK where I play golf after dark unarmed and with something of value on you. Make my day buster. :) "My neighbors are nice people, so I'm going to claim no one should have a gun and if they do they're paranoid." Right, Shorty, you're not a moron, I prooooooomise.

If we're basing it off loft/length, 1-4 are long, 5-7 are mid, 8-PW are short. If we're basing it off of distance hit, they're all short irons for me. LOL

He sounds like he'd be good friends with Aaron Hernandez lol but seriously, carrying a gun is no big deal, in the south where I live anyway. It is a big deal to point it at someone for anything less than a life threatening situation, though. Sounds like the issue is this kid owning a gun in the first place. I carry a gun with me everyday and I've thankfully never had to unholster it, and I've met some pretty rude golfers. LOL But, when you're coming down MLK past dark where I live, you don't mind having a sidearm with you.

Well I figured pink ones were less common and less likely to be refinished? Not sure if that's true just a theory. I do like pink, though. :)

Sure, I'll try to relocate the defective ones from my practice bucket.
