You might be right about Barkley, I just found it funny that he was all decked out in all Nike gear for the show. And with Haney, I think he might have signed on with Nike or something once he started coaching Tiger and got famous for that. I know I've seen pictures of him wearing a Cleveland hat, so that's really all I can come up with as far as him getting on board with Nike.

I wonder if Barkley had been playing Nike clubs before this show. Nike's got product placements all over this show. Everywhere you look, you see the swoosh. Does Haney have a deal with Nike these days too?

Ian Poulter - Seems like a really cool, down to earth guy and I love how he has his own flare and style. And he's not on the tour, but I really like Hank Haney. He just seems like such a great guy that loves doing what he does and that's teaching golf. Not to mention, he's a hell of a coach.

Anyone have the Footjoy SYNR-G's? They're pretty pricey but they look awesome.

Really? I think this season is by far the best they've had in terms of how much talent there is. And I'm listening Oasis - "The Masterplan" right now.

Looking for new carry bag help
jrode replied to flap's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I might be interested in selling my Callaway Warbird X Stand Bag (I think that's the model, I'd have to double check for sure). I've only used it for at the most, five rounds, but it's probably been more like three or four. It's a great bag, but I'm thinking of upgrading, so that's why I'm thinking about getting rid of it. I paid a little of $100 for it so I'd probably ask for $90 or so. Let me know. -
Anyone have an Odyssey Black Series i Putter?
jrode replied to jrode's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for the great reviews. It's nice to hear that the putter has some weight to it and connects you to it. I still have to get in and try one of these out, but they look and sound great. I see that both of you play the #1. Have either of you tried out the #6 at all? I think that'd be the model I'd go for seeing as I don't really like the plumber-neck hosels too much. -
I've always like Phil. I never get on the Tiger bandwagon and when I would hear people constantly rip Phil after tournament after tournament I felt bad for him and wondered why everyone hated him. He seems like a real stand up. I also love his demeanor on the course. He doesn't go around throwing clubs, swearing or complaining about cameras during his backswing.

This might not be funny to everyone, but you better believe it was funny to me. I went to play a round with my friend and we got paired up with two singles. At the time, I wasn't very good at all. I started off the round terribly and that led to me not being able to get my driver in the air. I was topping tee shots and my iron play wasn't much better. One of the guys we ended up getting paired with was a jackass. He didn't really say anything blatantly, but kept making little jabs at my play and apparently when I was teeing up, talked to my friend about what I was doing wrong. He didn't care to share the tips with me though. I mean, I had humility then and I knew that I wasn't very good, but he was just one of those guys, real smug and arrogant and it bugged the hell out of me. He was a pretty good player though. Anyway, we get to the 15th and at this point I'm frustrated as heck because I'm playing terrible golf. He tees up and hits a drive down the center. I'm last to tee up and what do you know? I finally find my swing and smoke a beautiful drive right down the middle. He makes some sort of where was that all day or it's about time comment and I just chuckle and say I don't know. I ended up out-driving him. His next ball, he loses right in the tall grass. My next ball, nice iron shot up around the green. This continued the last three holes. I played +3 golf, which for me was awesome. He continued to play crappy and lost a ball or two in the process. Needless to say, no matter how bad I played that day, those last three holes made my day. Karma's a bitch.

I'm a huge Poutler fan, so there might be some bias in this post, but I really love his swing. He's a little quick with his takeaway, but it looks so smooth.

UNC without Lawson is very susceptible. If they end up facing LSU in the second round and don't have Lawson, they could very well get bounced.

Power Cart, Pull Cart, or Walk?
jrode replied to juanrjackson's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I kind of think it's a joke that they charge you to rent those. It's not like they need the money to pay for maintenance on them or anything. -
Anyone have an Odyssey Black Series i Putter?
jrode replied to jrode's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'd have to give the Scotty a try, I've never putted with one before. I've always loved the putters Odyssey makes though so I don't know if anything could persuade me away from their putters. You never know though, like I said, I've never used a Scotty. -
Just wondering if anyone has one and could give an overall review of them. They look absolutely gorgeous and I'm thinking about saving up extra and forking out the $269 to get one instead of a White Hot XG.

I for the life of me cannot find this hat...

Awesome, thanks guys. I thought I searched eBay thoroughly for them, guess I didn't! -
Power Cart, Pull Cart, or Walk?

Power Cart if I'm with my friend(s) because they're both lazy and won't walk. -
How important is a club's look at address to you?
jrode replied to microcrayfish's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Extremely, but with putters more than anything. There are certain putters I just can't stand over, some are hideous. -
I guess I could have been a little more clear in what I meant. By best investment I mean that even if you purchase a $300 putter, if it's one you like and one that you putt good with, you're probably not likely to switch away from it if you putt well with it. A good putter should really last you a long, long time. All the other clubs get updated with new technology and you almost have to replace them in a handful of years to keep up with the technology of the game.
-
I was just thinking about this and wondering which club do you think is the best investment? Meaning, which club are you going to get the most bang for your buck on. In my opinion, it's hands down the putter. Really, if you find the right putter, you might not ever need to buy a new one again in your golfing career. That and it's probably the most important club in your bag.

I've been trying to find a fitted Cobra hat recently and I cannot find it anywhere online or at Dick's or Golf Galaxy. I'm not really a fan of adjustable hats, so I don't want one of those, but does anyone know where I can find this hat? It's on Cobra's website, but I can't find it anywhere else. It's called the Cobra Performance Mesh Fitted Cap: http://www.cobragolf.com/hats/details.asp?id=41

My hands tend to get really sweaty during the summer months so I need a glove. That and I just feel like I have a better grip and am in control more.

Sorry to hear that, getting stolen from sucks. Back when I was in high school, my car got broken into in the school parking lot while I was in class. They smashed the driver side window and stole my CD deck, all of my CD's and an ice scraper. The cops never did anything except take down the serial number of my CD player incase it showed up at a pawn shop. They never dusted for prints or anything and the school wasn't held responsible at all. It's really frustrating when you get something valuable stolen from you and there's not much anyone can do to help.

Last season I found it hard to get out as much as I would have liked. I only have one friend who golfs on a regular basis and no one in my family does. It's great playing with my friend, but it doesn't always work out with schedules and stuff like that. I want to get out more, but I'm sort of reluctant about going out and playing by myself for the sole reason that I'm afraid I'll get paired with someone else and my game is not good enough to be where I'm comfortable playing with strangers. That and I'm just a pretty reserved person to begin with. Will they pair you up with someone more often then not or am I just thinking it will happen all the time?

I wish that the networks would somehow figure out a better way to provide better coverage. Don't get me wrong, golf coverage has drastically improved over the years, but I just get annoyed a lot by coverage these days. I realize that all the casual viewers just want to watch Tiger and if he's in contention, I'm all for that. However, if he's not in contention, I really don't want to see every shot he takes. I mean, I like to watch two guys duke it out on Sunday, I just wish somehow they could make viewing more customizable. I don't know how they'd do it or if they could montearily afford to, but maybe put a few cameras on every hole and keep them there, then stream everything online or something. It just frustrates me because it's so hard to follow your favorite player if he's not Tiger, Phil or Sergio.

1. Cure my slice for good 2. Break 100 and consistently shoot in the 90s.
